Re: MIT Active Shooter

There's been a few more news reports about the SUV (and other car) gunfight. http://www.theage.com.au/world/the-bloody-hunt-for-boston-bombers-20130420-2i7dc.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; the above news report has them shooting the cop near MIT with a handgun. Then during the g...

Re: It happened again...

Would it help using raised garden beds (with good soil in them)? Because you could also put bottoms on them. With raised sides, and some kind of top cover to keep off other critters/birds, a mole would have a hard time getting in.

Re: Floating across rivers. Would a MSR dromedary work?

Thanks for the info about dry bags. I was thinking more day packs so will probably get a 25l one some time. Plus a dromedary for extra water storage.

Jayce- just to be sure, are you saying you have a dromedary, and you can breath inflate it?

Re: MIT Active Shooter

Hero? Really? That term is SO grossly over used these days. Hero Boat Owner Points Police to Bomb Suspect Watertown, Mass., resident David Henneberry is being labeled a hero after he apparently alerted police that he stumbled on a bloody body lying in his boat in the backyard of his home. The chain...

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon

It's also easier for a nutjob to dress up in khaki pants, desert boots and black cap and fake it to some advantage, than pretend to be a cop or SWAT.

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon

Since this has reopened I thought I'd migrate one thought on the 5.11 dressing civilian contractors. You know- they were identified by civilians as possible suspects, which makes me think whilst they and their military/cop associates are aware of their security contract a lot of civilians obviously ...

Re: MIT Active Shooter

Just something to add, the tan pants, boots, black coats, and bags guys that were obvious cops or .mil, were actually from Craft International. .mil Contractors founded by Chris Kyle, Late and former Seal. Is it a good idea for them to be so obvious? (You can buy their hat from their website). i.e....

Re: MIT Active Shooter

On the positive note, pilsung and major havoc in the bombing thread had that good quote from Fred Rogers: There was something else my mother did that I've always remembered: "Always look for the helpers," she'd tell me. "There's always someone who is trying to help." I did, and I came to see that th...

Floating across rivers. Would a MSR dromedary work?

I was rereading "Jungle snafus ..." recently: http://www.amazon.com/Jungle-Snafus-Remedies-Cresson-Kearny/dp/1884067107" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; there's chapters about ww2 era breath inflatable boats, and water bladders (these (good) capabilities taken out of service shortly af...

Re: MIT Active Shooter

The latest news is saying the 711 was not him/them. On a side note, how many kids in the US wear caps backwards? Is it common? Someone on another site pointed out that one strap carry of backpacks is common with students. But then it shouldn't surprise us that a lot of the perps are students, as tha...

Re: MIT Active Shooter

But maybe if the Reddits had had pics from 12 mins (rather than 2 hrs) before the bombing they probably would have spotted the black backpack. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised they were brothers, as after the big nose Indian student false story I tried to remember which one had the big nose a...

Re: MIT Active Shooter

Another site says Dzhokar Tsarnaev and they could be from Turkey or Chechnya. I\ve learnt my lesson after posting the Indian student and African's guys names earlier after seeing them on the news. Black cap was dead then, so it sounded reasonable that a name would be known. We should all listen to D...

This new ID of them being brothers (they both have big noses) makes more sense.
Earlier tonight 1 was Indian and black cap African.

News here just reported the names of the suspects.
1 was the missing student with the nose that reditt was suspecting earlier today.

Edit, a few hours later different names/people, so I've removed the original

This news site had them both shooting from behind a black SUV at one stage, and a new pic of the Marathon suspects, face on:

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon

Those reddit people were mostly using pics taken 2 hours before the explosions to look for people with black backpacks.
The videos the FBI have show the bombers turning up ~13mins before the blasts.

I hope the colors or the way they're wearing they're hats aren't "codes" for other cells...I can tell pretty positively that they aren't "white americans". I've seen so many foreigners, I can spot them a mile away, much like they can spot us over their. Any one who has spent as much time over-seas ...

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon

Whatever their nationalities, I reckon the white hat guy looks less focused, more like a goofy, stupid kid. (Well he is stupid to be showing his face so much). Maybe a stupid nervous grin on his face. The black hat guy with his tan pants looks like a lot of guys into 5.11 or Top Shot etc... He's pro...

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon

In the spirit of preparedness, what do we change now? If I go to watch a friend finish a race, should I carry a couple of CATs in my pocket from now on? Stay away from the densest concentration of people and keep an eye out for unattended bags? You have to do what you can do. Someone who's lived in...

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon

People are funny creatures. Especially in America where we walk around thinking bad things only happen to others. A dude walking down the street carrying a box with a pressure cooker on top of it wouldn't have triggered a single thought in most peoples minds, and for the few average folk it did, th...

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon

There could be two guys. Otherwise, one guy has to make two trips to a vehicle/stash place if he's only carrying one bag at a time. Or carry two bags from the start? Presumably the bombs would be made as big as the maker could. Guy/s carrying one heavy backpack is going to look more normal/less memo...

Re: North Korea Saber Rattling

so much for China supporting us against NK unconditionally. I understand their concern for increased forces in their area, but they know why it's happening and should support it, not buff it. Looks like we may have a problem here. http://news.yahoo.com/china-points-finger-u-regional-tensions-025724...
