Re: Practical Lightweight AR Build

Next was the selection of the Barrel. I wanted a 14.5’’ pencil barrel in either 223 Wlyde or 5.56x45 Non-Chrome lined to save on wgt. Four months ago I found BCM had a special on 14.5’’ mid-length pencil barrel in 5.56x45 The over all weight was 21oz. They were selling at $175.00 For BCM that is a f...

Finally some pictures. Upper and lower is the Rainier Arms talked about. Re: Practical Lightweight AR Build

Upper and Lower Receiver: To start a build I always begin with the upper receiver. To me this is the frame or foundation of the build. After the upper comes the lower. I prefer to use the same manufacture for both to avoid the franken gun look. For the upper, I knew I wanted light weight. So, I want...

The extender is about 30 bucks and if you do it right...pretty solid

Re: Practical Lightweight AR Build

I want to put together a lightweight AR some day. I actually have a GWACS/CavArms lower on order. I was skeptical of a polymer lower at first, but it sounds like the parts that tend to break on polymer lowers are a lot stronger on this one. https://www.full30.com/video/41324b93161c3953ea131b0d23ebe...

Re: Practical Lightweight AR Build

Do you think your 16 inch version with the Micro RD would have hit 5.5 lbs with a lighter stock? I might have, but I would not use the Ace Ultralite again. The rifle model is too long and the Entry is too short (My nose is on the charging handle) To get this Ultralite to work I had to use a DPMS A2...

La Petite: The Current Lightweight Champ The current lightweight Champ is my Katana Clone (My wife calls it La Petite). I’m going to use it a baseline comparison to the new rifle. I’m not going to get too detailed other than a few pictures and a parts list. It can be a whole thread by itself. Again,...

Re: Practical Lightweight AR Build

Background: My obsession with Practical Lightweight Builds started when I saw the Shootrite Kanata on ‘Sons of Guns’ back in 2011. I don’t like the show personally, but the Katana and the concept behind it caught my attention. I have spent enough time lugging overweight and over complicated rifles ...

Practical Lightweight AR Build

I have been obsessed with practical lightweight AR builds for at least 5 years. When I say practical lightweight, I mean building the lightest rifle possible that is functional and usable. What’s the point of having a 4 pound rifle that will break under real use? I want to build the lightest rifle t...

I really wanted to order one of those just to beat the crap out of... but yours looks SOOO pretty. I love those grips with the light wear on the metal finish. Maybe I'll just get a Taurus 92 to uglify... For under 300 bucks...but one before you get a taurus Yeah, but I'd feel guilty running a Beret...

Beretta 92S: New life into an old gun

I picked up a Beretta 92S (Italian Police Trade in) for under 300 bucks on gun broker. There is enough reviews and videos on this gun that I don’t want to bore everyone with redundant information. Instead I wanted to give some details as to how to spruce one up. Below is how I got it out of the box ...

I just saw the latest episode of fear on demand.
I had to laugh when the scene where the national guard ditch there platoon commander and abandoned their post was followed by a commercial for the national guard....the irony is wonderful

Re: Fear The Walking Dead

At least Travis is finally waking up, seeing the signalling people get gunned down after the soldier lied saying no one was out there. I was unclear about this point. Was there people actually signaling from this building or was it a kill house for the army? Were the light flashes muzzle fire the e...

Re: The Pirate: Ar chambered in 5.45x39

Over labor day I was shooting with my brother-in-law (Huge AK74 shooter who doesn’t own a single rifle chambered in 5.56 or .223). He loved the 5.45x39 AR and made me an offer on the upper I couldn’t turn down. So I used the money made from the budget upper to build a serious and practical upper to ...
