Re: The Unwelcome Sign

I hate to say this is a good place to end. But what you just did there is a stellar place to perhaps end "book one". You ended the major threat, are now looking to the future. Book two could be making alliances, taking out other problems, and rebuilding the island. Just a thought from a fan...... w...

YMBAS if you base your impression of any house you visit on storage capacity, south-facing rooflines, and gallons-per-minuite capacity of the gutter system.

As I read it, they got a Servicemark, and only pertaining to online usage. as Guy put it, it was a CYA situation, and they arent actually doing anything with the SM, besides having it, that is.

Re: Blade thickness for a survival/SHTF knife

I had an absolutely incredible Scrapyard knife - 1/4" thick blade, scary sharp, super strong SR77 steel. Totally LOVED that knife. Sold it because I realized I never carried the damn thing with me anywhere! Every time I was packing up, I looked at that 1 pound monster, and then at any of my other, m...

Re: Battle of the 5" do it all knives.

I strongly recommend the Scrapyard Urban Mutt. Mostly because I have one I am selling! :awesome: http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt358/davethesoundguy/for%20sale/scrap2_zps825c6d49.jpg But I am also a fan of anything Fallkiven. Cant go wrong with 'em. A scrapyard is more of the big, heavy duty ch...

Re: Longarms inside BOBs

Another sub2k user here. Folded down is just over 17", it fits in the laptop slot in my daypack. Sure its a pistol caliber, but way better than harsh language if things go sour.

I keep flipping back and forth on the whole issue of packing a longarm, but for now, its in my bag.

Re: 3 Day BOB with weight restriction.

With a BOB, it is a tough set of decisions. 1) What am I really preparing for? For me, it is less of a "mad max" world, and more of "a tornado/blizzard/whatever has made travel really difficult - what do I need to get home to my family?" scenario. My loadout reflects that scenario. 2) Weight restric...

I don't have any equipment to maintain a convex edge so I haven't done much by way of cutting with it yet. If you have leather belt, sandpaper and a mouse pad you got the equipment. This. There is a pretty good video made by the guy from Turley Knives, a bit talkative, but shows exactly how to do i...

Re: What long arm and handgun are you using to bug out?

My answer depends on the scenario. One of my key strategies in planning BO defensive arms is ammo compatibility. It's nice when you can overlap functionality without making undue compromises. It was always a trade off in my estimation as to whether there was sufficient advantage in a given configur...
