Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Would a different/heavier bolt somehow change head spacing or loosen the barrel nut?

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

After this really cool dude at the range helped me troubleshoot even further, we identified it was an upper issue. Bcg and lower worked fine in his rifle. He said it might be a head spacing issue. How do I go about getting that fixed?

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Push the bolt back into battery, shake the bcg up and down. Does the firing pin move? It should float freely. If it's not moving like it should, you likely have a carbon issue. Strip the bcg completely and clean thoroughly. If cleanliness isn't an issue then the firing pin is broken. With no primer...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Do you mean it will not touch the primer at all? Are you getting light strikes on the round, or no strike? No, I at first thought it may have been a hard primer/light strike but there were no indents on the primer at all When you're troubleshooting it, is the bolt extended, or pushed into the bcg? ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Okay, while out shooting in the desert, my ar stopped functioning. After a few failed troubleshoots I disassembled the weapon and took a look at the BCG. It seems that the firing pin isn't being held by the retainer pin tight enough. When the bolt drops into battery, the firing pin has a few millime...

Re: Sheaths for KaBar knives

You might want to take a look at custom kydex workers in your area or online. It's not relatively that expensive and you can usually get a sheath that will last a lifetime. Those glass filled nylon sheaths are hell on your knifes edge and are usually constructed pretty poorly. Which means they'll ra...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I've only got a few k on the system, not all that experienced really. Grats on your new bolt functioning though. I might add though that steel case (also steel jacketed) ammo shoots your bore out in around 6-7 thousand rounds. Can be cheaper to shoot steel and replace barrels than buy brass, though...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Frank, I don't have personal experience with your bolt, doesn't look like there's much info on it. Try it in your rifle and if it works, roll with it. If that doesn't sound appealing I'd recommend selling it and buying a BCM auto carrier group. Just my .02c Dropped it into my rifle and it seems to ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

So I've been in the AR game for a month or two and have been slowly working on upgrading it (training and ammo come first) I recently came across a decently priced NiB Bolt carrier and bolt (no cam or firing pin). After some research, which I should of done before purchasing, It turns out it's a LWR...

If anybody finds these tubes for a decent price. I'd be willing to do a group buy with you. But I'm not gonna drop $50 for containers in my pack. I simply don't need that many or for that much money. Send a PM to RTF_Squared. He's a ZS guy who does nice custom kydex work and can design a holster with whatever specifics you have in mind. Great prices, too. Thank you, I will give them a look. Back to the questions regarding the sweat guard and cant: does anyone have any input? Depends on where yo...

Re: VTAC stippling

I like a stippled grip, but that may hurt you if you ever decide to trade/sell that gun. I had a hard time moving a HK P2000 with stippled grip, but finally found someone that was into them too. If you plan on keeping it though I say do whatever feels good to you. Maybe it's just me, but no gun in ...

For those of you having problems with evaporation ans zippos not staying lit. Trim the wick every so often, the buildup on the wick keep the zippo from working 100%

When in doubt..dont trust walmart. Actually. Dont trust walmart ever. Most of their stuff is their own poorly made items when it comes to the outdoors section.
