Re: Newest handgun...

Good luck with it. I have a lot of FTF in the one I sampled. What ammunition were you using? Three or four different kinds. I know I was running reloads and a Remington FMJ. I'm not sure what the owner had. WWB maybe? I didn't shoot any defensive loads through it since I think I only had the ones i...

Re: Newest 10/22 build...

Interesting, according to numerous online sources California uses 26" as their minimum but they measure the rifle when it's folded. However, that apparently only applies to center-fire rifles, rim fired such as my 10-22 aren't included. Think I'll have to see what Calguns has to say about it all. In...

Re: Newest 10/22 build...

Well this is interesting. Adding a shoulder pad won't increase the length of the rifle while it's folded due to how it folds. The end of the stock faces the barrel end of the rifle, adding length there doesn't really do anything. Obviously I'll need to measure more carefully when I get everything as...

Thanks, that's good to know. I knew it was going to be close. I'll add some sort of pad to the stock.

Thanks to both of you, not familiar with the Dale Fricke holsters, I'll check into them.

Haven't a clue what the tigers reference is but I grew up in St.Louis, MO and the MO state university mascot is a tiger so yeah, go Tigers...I guess.

Kimber/Glock/Springfield/HK fanboy finds the weapon inferior in their opinion . I was gonna say something, but I figured I'd let the "Fanbois" (for example Doc: proprietor of MilCopp Tactical LLC and 25-year SWAT veteran) speak for themselves. I remember the time I bought a house with my wife in 20...

easy tiger... While I appreciate all of the opinions offered so far, the LC9 came highly recommended by someone I trust. Which is not to say that he can't be wrong but he's steered me pretty straight so far. As for comparing the Ruger to the Glock, the main reason I went with the Ruger was size. The...

Newest handgun...

put a Ruger LC9 on layaway at a local dealer earlier today. Was going to get a Glock 26 but when I compared it directly to the Ruger, I really liked the size of the Ruger.

Should be picking it up in a couple of weeks.

Any suggestions for a holster or a mag carrier?

Newest 10/22 build...

Ordered a compact version of the 10/22 from a local dealer. Planning on setting it up with an AGP folding stock that I picked up a couple of months ago. The compact model comes with a 16" barrel, combining that with the folder should make for a decent packable gun. Will be installing a better extrac...

Re: HAM privacy question

I read a lot on QRZ.com and eHam and haven't found a single example of a Ham operator that's been burglarized due to someone getting their personal info from a callsign. I'm only guessing here but apparently bad guys don't use callsigns to find their targets. Obviously not all Ham operators post on ...

wondering how many burglars listen to mobile operators to get their callsign in order to then break into their homes? I've been unable to find a single recorded example of that ever happening. If you're looking for help deciding what you actually need to buy, the first thing you'll need to do is gather up or make a list of everything you think you're going to be charging or using with the solar ...

Re: What I actually did - Burglar in house

First thing I'd do is get some sort of alarm system installed that warns you someone has entered your house when you're in the garage. Doesn't have to be a full-on burglar alarm although those aren't a bad idea, just something to give you a heads up the next time someone walks in and starts stealing...

I would add that one of the reasons why the old 4 step method of controlling bleeding has changed is that combat trauma treatment has shown that a lot of what used to be common wisdom about tourniquets wasn't accurate. Something else to consider, if you have the unfortunate experience of coming acro...

Suddently some guys started circling around the street and then our house, i lowe...

Went to the local Turners Outdoors yesterday to take a look at the new Ruger. It seems very well done. Looks to be the same receiver, trigger group and barrel as their standard stainless steel version with the take down part of the barrel being the exception. Pre-drilled and tapped for a scope mount...

Not a mention of Ham Radio Outlet?

Really...?

One of if not the last chain of stores specializing in Ham radio equipment, I'm lucky enough to live near one of their retail outlets.

Not always the cheapest but they do offer free shipping on mail order sales over I believe it's $100 or thereabouts.

Doubt it would get past that thick fur and skin, plus limited range. With a gun you can fire a warning shot and can shoot when they are charging, not so much with a taser. Not to mention the added benefits of gun when it comes to a angry porcupine or coon that your dog takes a new found interest in....
