Fugitive lived in isolated bunker for 3 years to evade arrest in Wisconsin

Yes, he is a scumbag sexual predator but I kind of have to admire his ability to put together a hasty bug out location and his skills in scrounging and piecing together a surprisingly comfortable lifestyle for someone living in a hole in the ground. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/...

Wow. A uncomfortable movie that makes you feel anxious and will cost a piece of my soul to watch. How could one refuse?
It's like eating the cinnamon roll pancakes at The Cheesecake Factory, medically inadvisable, but a perverse badge of pride.

This is tough movie to get through but has a great cast. Michael Biehn playing against type as a misanthropic building super. The always great Courtney B. Vance, Lauren German two years before she co-starred as Det. Decker on the TV series Lucifer, Milo Ventimiglia from This is Us erases any nice fe...

All the ones I've seen take one look at my ugly mug and run away. That said, I've never run into a sow and her cubs.

Re: Severe radiation exposure amid blast at Russian missile testing ground

Russia finally admitted to having five technicians die in the explosion. Last year Putin boasted of a cutting edge cruise missile that would have unlimited range. Nuclear powered cruise missiles were an idea that the U.S. looked at decades ago and realized it was a bad idea. Jalopnik had a pretty go...

Re: Study finds rise in Doomsday Prepping due to culture of fear

Moved from another thread. Yeah, the magazine with the top hat and monocle guy that makes the Monopoly Man look like nouveau riche, had a good video about prepping. Despite the rather lurid headline, they must be standing too close to the New York Post, the story was pretty well thought out on why p...

....(snip).. Now, in a practical sense the responses have been somewhat different. Some people want all money to go to a central organization, of course, where some people recognize that logistics prevent that from being practical. But people do recognize the need. Having worked with the USAID disa...

Somebody’s Going To Die

And it’s going to be the bear. A 13-year-old child sleeping in a Utah campground was bitten on the face by a bear Friday morning, officials said. The boy was at the Dewey Bridge Campground in Grand County, located along the Colorado River, when the bear bit him, according to the Utah Division of Wil...

TacAir - Thanks for making the point that we might have good neighbors but bad visitors.

Raptor - What a brilliant idea. No idea if any of this land qualifies, but I won't know if I don't ask.

It was a figure of speech.

I enjoy your critiques of film and television and can always count on them being well thought out. I sometimes wonder if you are channeling Roger Ebert. 👍🏼

The Boys

This Amazon Prime original series is the antidote to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Proof that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Great performances by Elizabeth Shue and Karl Urban.

Once I get my debt to earning ratio under control I will be investing in metals. Rare earth metals. With the renaissance of electric cars and the surge in energy from wind and solar, batteries, which depend on lithium as well as a whole bunch lanthanides so I will be looking to invest in the extract...

I was "between assignments" for 17 months. Wife never skipped a beat. I put her in charge of paying the bills, but she juggled them expertly. I had my monthly VA check and an annuity of 3,200 a month after taxes and health insurance for my wife and four kids. We maxxed out four credit cards, I liqui...

The choice between rifle or water os one nobody should have to make. Rather than cutting the center our of your rifle, maybe you can fabricate a folding stock. If you are referring to my cut-down 10/22 you should look again; It does not conflict with the fork mounted bottle cage. As for the cutting...

Excellent analysis of the "Rashomon" of security tapes. My one nit to pick is that mass shooters have been donning black garb going back to Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold in 1999 who in turn might have been inspired by: Leonardo DiCaprio's ensemble in Basketball Diaries, http://mauiwatch.com/wp-conte...

What to do with 13 acres of land?

Back in the darkness of time, just before the war to end all wars, my great grandfather was driving through North Dakota. I don’t know what possessed him, but he purchased a big ass plot of land. Today, that land has been divided between his sons and daughters of two marriages, so my share in the ne...

Just start writing. There are a million ways to do it. Outlines, note cards, freestyle. Write a few pages from each point of view, see what feels comfortable for you.
