Re: Head Protection.

Helmets are good things but they are built with very specific purposes. Sorry Chef, but that ProTec is designed to protect the head when falling off a bike, skates or a snowboard so a tops speed of 25-30 Mph and a fall height of not more than about 7 feet. Hard hats are designed to protect you from ...

Re: Chavez threatining war?

Fair point Shrap. OK assume Chavez declares war on the U.S. Our fill in the blank politicians ignore him. So speaking from a strictly military point of view what is his play. In other words what are his conditions of victory? Unconditional surrender of the U.S? Withdraw all U.S. forces from Colombia...

Re: Chavez threatining war?

It is not the first time and it won't be the last time Chavez calls something "an act of war." It is SOP for him to always create an external threat to cover up his internal short comings. Last year's phony war with Colombia is a good example. It showed Venezuelan troops unable to mobilize and arriv...

Re: Farm Animals that don't need much land or feed

The ancient Chinese used to dig carp ponds and surround them with mulberry bushes. The silkworms would feed on the mulberry leaves, the carp would eat the worn droppings and the Chinese would harvest both the carp and the silk threads. Imagine the harem you would have in the PAW if you were the sole...

Back in my Navy days I paid a port call to Sydney, Australia. There I visited the "Chippendale House" a sustainable terrace Home (that'...

Re: Witnessed a wreck today.

Overall I would say you responded well. I would include a chemical light stick or two in your EDC bag. They make good light wands for directing traffic at night.

Re: Greetings From Venezuela

I was an Operations Officer in the Navy for 13 years before I became a "Peace Dividend" draw down, so I know from whence you speak. I don't see anyone targeting us Yankees per se, but the Embassy, like the military has socio-economic tripwire to get our Spider-sense tingling. I think a more likely s...

Greetings From Venezuela

Yes, I'm living in wild and woolly Caracas, homicide capital of the world, (avg. 137 homicide per 100,000 residents) and due to a prolonged drought combined with 10 years of mismanagement by the Chavez administration (21st Century Socialism done wrong, see Scandinavia for Socialism done right) we wi...
