Re: Bloomberg: Jobs crisis could spark riots here (in USA)

Amateur journalism absolutely has it's place. Examples: Just so you can see what happened in Berkeley the other day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCSBVNn6ltg The cops weren't contained, no one was actively resisting or fighting back in any way. The police barely tried to move the group of students...

Re: Bloomberg: Jobs crisis could spark riots here (in USA)

The point of the protests is that the protesters feel that voting didn't work. They've taken to the street. Most of the protests are peaceful. However, there are agents provocateurs in the crowds to instigate police response against the protesters. Some of them are Black Block, some are just vocal a...

raptor, here's an interesting article for you. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-10-18/bofa-said-to-split-regulators-over-moving-merrill-derivatives-to-bank-unit.html Apparently Bank of America transferred $75 trillion in high-risk (European) derivatives from Merrill Lynch to BoA, the latter of whi...

Re: Bloomberg: Jobs crisis could spark riots here (in USA)

Sorry ninja-elbow I did not mean to imply that you had not seen the protests for yourself, just that those who had not should. Gallup has this poll out today. 63% of Americans do not know enough about the protests to approve of disprove. I'm not quite sure what exactly your post means... Are you sa...

I'm not sure where else to put this: http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/features/2011/09/201199175046520396.html China is shifting some of its massive foreign holdings into gold and away from the US dollar, undermining the dollar's role as the world's reserve currency, accoding to a recently relea...

to add to the basic military training... Re: Upgrading perimeter security - pic heavy

don't reverse exterior doors. you can be barricaded in that way, and if the door gets opened slightly, it's much harder to pull it closed than to push your weight against it. not to mention it's a fire code issue. make sure your bedroom door is hardened. having a secondary line of defense isn't a ba...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

I noticed a weird trade in the after hours market for FXF; the last sale price was $136 or so and the ask price was $205 which obviously was way out of the money. The $205 was for a large block of FXF. It seemed very weird. I assumed the Zurich gnomes were were playing around in that market. I know...

Update: the party was a hoot! lots of people and lots of fun. too bad the AC was on the fritz.

Anyway, the coffee shop has great sandwiches if you want to pop by for lunch (try the chauvinist pig). Feel free to drop off ZS propaganda, too. :)

Shameless Grounds' Cherry Jubilee

Shameless Grounds , the new local sex-positive coffee shop, is having a grand opening party this weekend, which will include many of the things I know you all like- booze (and boozy snow-cones), burlesque, rockabilly bands, swing dancing, and other misc. shenanigans. I know it's a little late notic...

A war with a belligerent enemy nation that we've got surrounded on 3 sides (Iraq, Afghanistan, Indian Ocean), who is experiencing some level of inner turmoil, and poses a threat to our national interests by proximity to our favorite oil reserves?

Nah, it would never happen.

Ok, so a point of cookery- if you kill one and can't grill it up soon, I suppose it should be plastic-wrapped before being tossed in the freezer? I'm not a hunter, but are there any quick and easy steps one should take to prepare 'em?
