Re: Why 5.7?

- The Fort Hood shooting, which is very well-documented now (see some of the first-hand accounts). - A handful of U.S. SWAT shootings like the one that was described in the Houston SWAT writeup on the P90 (by a 28-year veteran of HPD). - Dozens upon dozens of news reports on shootings (mostly fatal...

AK_stick, I was one of the shooters involved...please don't be a dick. Granted, this guy who apparently followed you here from another forum is being very confrontational, but take the high road. Sent from my SGH-T839 using Tapatalk I'm not being a dick, I'm simply making a point. We have several p...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

The tests we did are not conclusive; no single experiment is no matter who does it and how carefully controlled. It has to be replicated. Still, I think the data we gathered did suggest that as Terry points out, S4M needs further study both from proponents and detractors. Dr. Roberts doesn't have t...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

Yes, the test that a we [zombiehunters.org] conducted this past summer. My involvement was purely to supply the firearms and ammunition and do some of the shooting. We tested 3 rounds of S4M, SS190, SS197, S5, and ProtecTOR. At least 2 of the 3 rounds fired of each round met the FBI 12" standard. A...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

I agree that it's a niche weapon. I think civilian use is the PS90 and FsN's perfect niche. We all like to pretend that one day we'll don our 3rd line MOLLE PC's, War Belts, BDU's, NVG, and M4's and go hunting zombies but that's not reality. Better accuracy, defeats body armor , higher capacity, li...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

Do we have any ballistics reports from independent labs other than Brassfetcher, showing 12 inch + performance by those loads? Yes, the test that a we [zombiehunters.org] conducted this past summer. My involvement was purely to supply the firearms and ammunition and do some of the shooting. We test...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

What proof do you have that he's biased against the 5.7? Because he talks bad about your beloved 5.7, for its lack of terminal performance? You say lack of terminal performance but you can produce no evidence to back up your claims. Everything I have posted has proven 5.7x28mm as a viable SD option...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

How is this thread still going? It was designed as a PSD... none of us will utilise it as a PSD... Therefore there are much better options. /thread As civilians, what other "option" would we use? An assault rifle? Are you planning on being on an assault? The only reason I would use my firearms is a...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

BTW, I'm not saying he's bad at what he does or shouldn't be respected. I'm saying he is being influenced by some kind of bias when it comes to reporting on 5.7x28mm loads. His bias is that it doesn't perform when used, and thats exactly why the caliber hasn't caught on, and isn't being used by alm...

Re: Why 5.7?

Ditto to Kommander. Got any links regarding the displeasure of the cartridge after use in the field? No, most of the OIS with the 5.7 that I know of are not publicly available on the web. Here's a good article about it http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=19913" onclick="window.open(this.href)...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

Okay, I disagree, but I see your point. I would say that Dr. Roberts feels strongly that it is not a good choice; whether this is because of some external bias or because of the data as he sees it is open to interpretation. I suppose you could say the same of Fackler, but the fact remains that two ...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

Doctor Roberts has a rabid hatred for 5.7x28mm. I can't tell you why he doesn't like it but there are clear and apparent bias's in his 5.7x28mm reports. I don't think anyone can argue that his report isn't misleading or incomplete.

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

A verifiable incident where a 5.7x28mm load performed sub par compared to other handgun calibers doesn't exist. More importantly, we have evidence where SS197 has been used on humans and it performed exactly how it was intended. One of the biggest problems with the 5.7x28mm myths are that everyone "...

You still have a job but most don't. Occupy Wall Street crowds have continued to grow and overwhelm law enforcement. It still isn't violent but is constantly on the verge. Murder, robbery, and other violent crimes have skyrocketed in all the major cities. You know people who have been victim from be...

Oh for sure. I'm not above using airsoft as a cheap analog. I'm looking to get a FiveseveN airsoft replica as since we'll never see a .22lr version.

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

For the PDW-niche P90 was designed for, I think a Sub-2000 in the same flavor as your pistol makes a ton more sense for a civilian. Much cheaper, uses the same mags as your pistol, and could not legally get any smaller. The 5.7 round doesn't impress me particularly and for a civilian, with the long...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

My aug is 28 inches total lenght with 16 inch barrel. What is the length of the ps90? My AR 5.7 is 35 and a half inches long. The reason I ask as I am looking at at a ps90 insted of the AR 5.7. With a 16" barrel it is 26" long. So it's not that much shorter but I am going to SBR my PS90's. Then it ...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

It's just my take on things Ink but if you aren't going to SBR it I'd think about trading it off for something else. As a 16 inch barreled gun you could find something else that would be in the same size range and yet have a good bit more power. a 16 inch barreled PS90 is in no way comparable to th...

That sounds like a recipe for a Jam-machine. Rimmed carts in that little flipper-wheel feed device? You think it has a decent chance of working Terry? I ask you because I once held a PS90, and you're their mascot. 8-) This conversion will use Ruger 1022 magazines. They don't turn 90 degrees like th...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

Ignorant post on my behalf without starting some sort of situation or nothing. Is there any way that there will be any caliber conversion kits for the PS90? (Hey I'm cheap and it would rock as a .22 or a 9mm) (and yeah I know that I could just do the AR thing and buy as many uppers as I can handle)...

Re: is a PS90 practical for post-SHTF life?

James, since you called me out, here's my response. I can see a real need for me and you being fourth tier personal to have a need for a light, compact shoulder fired weapon that can be employed in a vehicle. So, by my annoying example I was trying to illustrate where a Pdw would be preferable and ...
