Re: Cascadia Subduction Zone fully locked.

I happened to read something about this in our local paper: http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2014/12/is_the_eerie_quiet_at_nw_earth.html#incart_river News outlets in the Northwest reported Wednesday and Thursday that researchers haven't been able to detect the signs of grin...

This is a video shot by hikers that were on the mountain when it erupted. It's amazing that they survived:

It's sideways, but hey, they were literally running for their lives.

This is a good thread.

OP, are police investigating and taking weapons from Ukrainians given the situation with Russia? Is the "letter of the law" being enforced or are you going off historical behavior?

Oh shit, I didn't realize they were in the walls of your house (for some reason, it's very clear now). Damn dude, that's a fine line between sealing them in and driving them in further. Best of luck!

Re: Weird question...

Most cops, in my very real experience in my corner of USA, have not been trained with LTL ammo. It makes no sense in a self-defense situation, and makes only minimal sense in a crowd control - riot situation. For legal (re Crypto) and practical reasons, don't do that. Tasers are very effective IF th...

Re: Nasty surprise today

This is a little off the cuff, but you could mix up a little cement and pour it on the hole late at night or early AM. The nest is probably in bad shape at this point, so you need to keep up the attacks to kill all of them. A pro will take care of it straight away, but concrete mix is cheap...

Re: Ukraine unrest

Some interesting analysis concerning a conventional war: Even so, Ukraine had no realistic contingency plan for a Russian takeover of Crimea, given the size of the Russian forces legitimately based there, said Mr. Sutyagin, the military analyst. But he also said that he doubted that Russian forces w...

Re: Ukraine unrest

In summary; no-one knows where the former President is, his former allies have disowned him, and Ukraine's apparatus-of-state is getting on with business without him. That's all good news; the signs seem to be pointing toward the orderly (ahem) transfer of power. Hopefully the bloodshed is over and...

The two maps in the linked article are particularly interesting, and I would embed them but they are too large. Re: Ukraine unrest

I've heard on reddit that there is quite a bit of speculation about who's "really" behind the rebels, and that it's some kind of neofacist-white suppremicist organization. I obviously can't disprove that, but the folks interviewed by western press sure sound like normal people: http://hosted.ap.org/...

This article doesn't address lions and tigers, but you may be on the wrong track for bears. http://www.fws.gov/mountain-prairie/species/mammals/grizzly/bear%20spray.pdf Let me preface this by stating that I have no experience or training with grizzly bears, and I have no strong opinion regarding fi...

I just made my first batch, setting aside about a third for storage. I made them per squriley's instructions, and I thought that they ended up tasting pretty bland. If I make these again, I think I'm going to go mad scientist. I am, however, pleased with the little crosshatch mark I made in the top ...

Re: Remington R51 sub compact 9X19 +P

Trigger on the prototypes was pretty good, and the one I handled was put together very well and pointed beautifully. I liked it as soon as I picked it up. People (m4carbine.net and pistol-forum.com posters) are bitching at SHOT about the slide being "gritty" to rack, the safety being hard to engage...

I was really surprised at the price, I thought it would have been higher. I'm curious about it, but a seven round magazine is a little bit of a turn off for me. Still though, I want one.
