Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I wish someone would misplace some tooling in my garage. One of the things I keep running into is that I'd love to learn how to use a mill and lathe. Maybe one of these days, when I have proper shop space. I went to a vocational and technical high school and took machine shop, machinery design, dra...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

For context, a couple years ago I picked up a slide and a magazine for a colt 1911 in 38 special. For those of you not familiar, colt made the .38 special national match in the 60s and 70s as a response to the popularity of the S&W model 52 among bullseye shooters. They redesigned the internals, exc...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I've never ordered from them, but I remember seeing their adds in the gun rags waaay back when I was just a wee lad. I think they've been around for 40 or 50 years. Yeah, they're website talks about some humble beginnings. Yes. I've ordered from them once, meebee twice. SKS stuff, iirc. Their legit...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Hmm, I broke the stock on one of my 870 Shotguns. Apparently it was in the safe crooked and got slammed off kilter. I guess 56 years is a good long service life. Ouch. Time to upgrade the stock now ? Bummer. Now you can justify that bigger safe. Yes to stock and no, I think I will take it to the ne...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Duty tax is another weird thing.... I ordered a bayonet lug and bayonet compatible mag tube extension for a Rem 870 from a Canadian store and wasn't charged a duty. Then another time, I ordered a lefthand bolt for my Tavor rifle from Canada, and had to pay a duty ($26 USD, IIRC). I guess "accessori...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Again, two are receivers only, I have 12" barrels for them, but they're not assembled yet. The .22 upper is the chiappa mfour, so iirc that's 16". The last is on the Chinese lower at 10.5". I'm just looking to identify anything that will make the process slower when the rubber meets the road. ARs ar...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

the problem is that the government makes the rules, and changes them when they dislike them. see the US bump-stock ban for reference. Luckily, there's a legal way to change the rules, and from what I've been told, this isn't that. So, what are you saying? That your firearms are nothing that an auct...

Anyone able to break down the procedure of importing a firearm into the states? NY or Michigan specifically. Or some resources to look over. I'll take a look around for it. Maxing the temperature on the sonic cleaner made it scratch away. I upped the nail polish remover in the solution. After this cycle I'll try using a brush.

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Anyone got ideas or thoughts on removing some rattle can from Magpul hardware? I bought a .22 AR15 forever ago, the previous owner put a craptastic rattle can camo job on it, and I hate it. I swapped out the kgrip and Moe stock to match the miad and CTR off my center-fire AR, so I can play with them...

Re: Learning to hunt

Why are you skeptical of the state hunter education course? Most of your questions seem regional specific, so it should be the best way to go. Asking questions on an (inter)national web forum or watching hunting television programs where pros are paid to seek exciting, exotic game across the country...

Re: Rural property, but the locals don't want you there ...

I am not familiar with Canadian laws regarding indiginous tribes but in the US, a recognized indian tribe is in many cases considered a sovereign state. They have the same power as a state government. If the tribe decides to close off thier borders they basically have that right. Property ownership...

Re: Learning to hunt

Taking a course is almost always worth the time if you have an open mind, especially as a newbie. The state course should at the very least teach you how to understand the local hunting regulations. In my area, changes happen almost every year to one game animal or another, and these changes are not...

Re: Rural property, but the locals don't want you there ...

So I haven't updated on my end for a bit, but my scenario in the OP has developed a fair bit. The ringleader in the Facebook posts I shared before got himself a roadblock, approved by the municipal office of the town, which is a native reserve¹. When I first saw this, the person made a boomerang vid...

Re: Nova Scotia Killer

RCMP address this morning covered the timeline of the events. The radio station I listen to only broadcast the first 20ish minutes of the press release, so I missed a bit. They identified three series of events: Series one: A house party where the shooter was a guest (so much for physical distancing...

Another press release today brought the victim count up to 22, plus the shooter makes 23 dead. Police still expect they could find more bodies as they have not yet entered all of the arson sights. Not sure how they're counting crime scenes. I know of one vehicle set on fire on its own and two that w...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

Ontario announced today some new data. Two weeks ago, best case scenario suggested 80k cases by the start of May. As of now, we're looking more like 20k cases for the same timeline. Not reducing restrictions yet, or setting a timeline when we may see that happen.
