Product: Triscuit, Garden Herb Best-By Date: 19 June 2013 Consumed: 17 February 2014 Sensory Observations: Appearance is normal. It's a little hard to tell, given the normal texture of Triscuits, but I think they are slightly more crunchy and they have a very, very slight stale-cracker flavour. Res...

Best advice I have for someone just starting is to ignore the topsy turvey planters. We tried a bunch last year and they just did not produce anything and they all sun rotted quickly to the point the fabric was falling apart. <snip> Consumer Reports gave the same advice. http://www.consumerreports....

Thx for the Rockbox info, OP. I never heard of that utility.

Zobmiedown, I hope you're going to make jerky and pemmican with some of your game. And thank you (and other legal sport hunters) for being a tool of wildlife management efforts to conserve habitat and ensure hunting for future generations. Also, you might try constructing burlap/straw raised beds. I...

Well, we are into summer here, just a few weeks out from the first crops of tomatoes! I have about 6 heirlooms. Gherkins and dill are growing long, as are all my concurbits and gourds. Daikon is digging deep into their hills, intermingled with various plantings of carrots, beans and corn. Raspberri...

Re: Virgin Gardener

Great list p7 but some of that seems off to me. My Swiss chard is huge so I would think only one per container. I think you're right, Zobmiedown. When I looked more closely and read the "disclaimer" that the numbers don't necessarily equate to best yield, etc., I thought, WTH? Such a guide absolute...

There are larger, brighter (though slightly more expensive ones ($5-ish on sale)) from home centres or hardware shop that have a replaceable AA NiCd rechargeable battery. Those would represent a better value than the disposable units from the dollar stores.

That's a cost savings :) <snip> Glad you find it useful. A penny saved and a...
