Re: ACOG Advice

I'd like to assume we are all tracking in the differences in an ACOG and a RDS, but you never know. Either way, there are examples of guys with the option that prefer one or the other. Heck, I even know a dude personally who took his ACOG off in favor of an Eotech in AFG AND got a 200m witnessed hea...

Re: ACOG Advice

Akin, The M4 (m68) was originally issued with the high battery box, and is now issued with the low one. They are issued with the Aimpoint mount. In my neck of the woods, most M4-A1s have ACOGs but I'll admit I don't know which model. M68s are available for draw. The ACOG has the current nod due to l...

The 45 degree off set IS in use in both the iron and RDS, along with some piggy backs, over seas by some.

Re: Official MilCopp June 7-9 2013 AAR thread

Ten 8's post above has prompted a question that I've had for a while. However, I didn't (and still don't) know how to ask and not sound like I'm being a jerk. I was looking at MilCCopp as an additional option not only because I'm a forum member, but they are a little closer geographically and the pr...

Re: Availability of .40 when SHTF

What caliber to own when "SHTF" has always been a popular one around here with both pistols and long guns. All I can add is to remember what happened after Sandy Hook. That WAS NOT a SHTF situation, and 9mm ball virtually disappeared almost over night. I'm not much into the SHTF concept, however, I ...

IceMyst-
Try not to compare your performance with someone else's, as it's not a good way to find out how well YOU would perform with the gun THEY are shooting. Put it on a timer with known drills. It's the only way to really know.

Re: 9mm vs. .40 S&W, same platform--go.

The .40 vs 9mm debate will go on as long as both calibers are available, like the Eotech vs Aimpoint and similar debates. It will continue to flourish for the same reasons. They are both viable. They both hold tangible and very real advantages over the other. If you (the collective) are truly logica...

Re: Firearms Chat.....Sans catchy title

Browning 35 stated- "Only thing is now I'm totally fucking tortured on which ones to get. I like the top one, but I like the black-on-black with the front serrations too." I'm with you. The straight Defoors gave me the best POA/POI from 0 to 50 yds. However, for me, I lose the front sights at speed....

Re: Firearms Chat.....Sans catchy title

Iirc, Aneriglo's Defoor sights are the same hight as Glock factory sights and offer the same style, conventional sight picture. They are metal, but the front sight is slimmer and they are black on black. If a wider front is desired, ameriglo offers several in the .140 width. You can also mix and mat...

Re: Realistic Ammo Stockpile Per Gun?

I'm not much into having a stockpile or a particualr ammount of ammo per gun. I am, however, very much into maintaining an amount of ammo that supports my training regimen. For me, training is more important then how much ammo I have in a pile. I know several people who stopped shooting when this la...

Re: Report Raises Concern About Glock Handguns

I agree that the RTF gen 3s are gtg. They are still around. I do like the gen 4 grip and admit I have no preference between the two other than, if given the choice, I'd probably rather have a Gen 4 in .40. Talking to a firearms instructor for a large west coast LEO, the gen 4 G17s are getting high m...

Re: Value of military training?

roger. In the Army (at least in the 18 ABN Corp), it's the opposite and very much on purpose. Initial training in basic isn't as pure marksmanship oriented, but tactical employment of your weapons tactically was and is excellent. Now, post 9/11, both things are improving. This is primarily due to me...

From Haji- "If you're interested in being taught gunfighting, seek out a guy who did that for a living. Luckily, that list is long and easy to find now: Mike Pannone, Kyle Lamb, Larry Vickers, Jim Smith, Kyle Defoor, Paul Howe, Jon Canipe (carbine instructor in the reformed Magpul Dynamics)." So...h...

100% tracking on why a carbine would be perferd for combat in most cases. Got it, It's why my arms room wasn't full of pistols... As far as my HD pistol set up, as I said in my first post on this thread. "The only difference between my HD pistol and a pistol i'd EDC is the addition of an X300 or a U...

Yep, we'll continue to disagree. I will admit that it's common for mil guys to want to default to the carbine because they are more use/comfortable with it. Being pretty good with both widens your options, however.

...and if I wanted a PEQ 16, that's what I'd have. The light sucks.
