Re: Wilderness EMT course - Crazy Stuff

Excellent posts claren. I could not have wrote it better if I wanted to. I took the Wilderness Medical Associates WEMT Uprade class in November of '09 and got nothing but good from it, in fact the class actually confirmed a few thoughts I was begining to have about Rural/Frontier EMS. We have are fo...

Re: My wife thinks I'm crazy

Are you already a Basic? Most places require you to be a Basic before you take an I or P course. If you are already a Basic, good on you, we can use more Is and Ps in the field. I had a blast during my EMT-I course.

Re: ambulance

There are many of the ambulance companies in the New Jersey. I think that the Airborne Air Ambulance is the best ambulance company to work and to grow up the career with in the new Jersey. The what? There are 2 med-evac helicopters in the State, both are operated by the NJ state police, and both ha...

Re: Pants

Recently I've been considering getting a pair of 5.11 TDU pants just to check 'em out. The $40 price tag is a bit offputting to me but as the old addage says, "You get what you pay for". I'll probably buy them and the only issue is which color to choose. I'm thinking Gray for the first pair. Does a...

Re: a good 5.56x45mm NATO rifle,

While counting on finding anything "in the field" as you put it is a poor plan to begin with, its got an obvious answer = the common ones. 5.56mm, 9mm, the common hunting cartridges...etc. Excuse me good sir but this old timer begs to differ http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/22/11395-solid_snake...

people do the dumbest things. the 20 inch collapsible stock ar's really get to me. Because you hate weapons with adjustable length of pull which are comftorable to shoot with body armor, and still have full-length barrels for higher velocity and extended range? Yeah, that does sound stupid. Sometim...

Did yours have the Federal .22lr 550 packs? If so, HOT DAMN!!! I've got a 1/4 inch high stack-o-hundreds in my wallet right now, and will be driving by a bunch tomorrow. :D :D :D If you spend all of it on 22lr we have the potential to witness what a "Metric Shit Ton" of something looks like :D .

Re: huge issue in my SHTF plan

Along the lines of what Abacus wrote, you need to get together a supply of good water. Two litre bottles are good for a starting point if you are prepping on the cheap or with limited space. I prefer five gallon bottles as I stack and cover them with some plywood to make a bench. 55 gallon drums wor...

Wouldn't that be an illegal SBR? Unless he papered it as such, of course... don't quote me but I think that's only if you put a buttstock on it. That's why AR pistols have those goofy nubs on the back. Then again I could easily be wrong because I never see AR pistols with VGs A pistol with a VFG is...

Re: Forest Fire May Approach BOL

Well you can start with 100-150 feet of cleared defensible space. No trees next to your BOL, cleared or well trimmed grass. Trees that are near your defensible space should be pruned or limbed and shrubs should be cut down, this reduces ladder fuels so the fire stays (hopefully) on the ground. Now s...

Re: Using a flexible spending account (FSA) for preps

When I signed up for this year I received a list of First Aid supplies I could get. I don't use it though since I get free supplies from the Volly Ambulance and work. But it's a good way to get supplies if you don't have access to low/no cost supplies.

Best get a lawyer. If the guy who stole it from you experiences the same problem, he could sue you for not putting a warning on the car. "WARNING: DO NOT STEAL. EXPERIENCES UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION." because it's funny, because it's not impossible. In my case it would be impossible, t...
