I probably would've tried to take the guy to the hospital.

Good for you for stopping. A heckuva lot of people would've blown right on by.

Try a hurley. It's the bat used in Hurling, the Irish national sport.

+1 to the water purification tablets (cheaper, smaller than a filter, more effective than some filters too) Glad to see the CPR mask. That means you've got a little training, and that you're thinking about the welfare of others. Good, solid, no BS BOB. (Sanitary napkins make good, field-expedient tr...

Some pretty good info here, overall. I take issue with the notion that the 9mm is "best suited" to double stack mags. There plenty of single stack 9mm's out there OTHER than the luger that don't have such a radical grip angle. Frankly, "in-line nines" are a joy in the hand and in the waistband as we...

Nice job!
Now buy every moonclip you can find. Those things tend to bend, break, and turn invisible rather easily.

I've got an ASP. I like it. I've got training with it. Sometimes I tote it as my ccw (legal here).
I will tote it in the PAW, either in a pocket or on my belt.

Just because it's the end of the world, doesn't mean you have to shoot everybody.

I used to play paintball with some guys from the local PD SWAT and at the end of the day, when everybody was running out of gas and paint, we'd break out the Crossman wristrockets and play a few games. Slingshots can be hard to shoot accurately. Solution? Learn to shoot them while other, better shoo...

Corcoran's are very tough. Not breathable? That's true, but change your socks as often as you can and you'll be okay. I like hightop, military style boots more than lowtop hikers. They are hotter maybe, but the ankle support is unbeatable. A pair of Altama or Wellco GI-spec boots sets me back about ...

Badger Balm has a few different offerings that come in shoe-polish type tins- very convenient for the backpack, tool box, glove compartment etc. No bottle to come unscrewed, etc, and leak all over the rest of your kit.

That's a good point. For the price of a comp-stock you're halfway to a new shotgun... either a new twelve for yourself or perhaps a twenty for the missus.

Don't know that the 590 is any "simpler" than the 870, as I've never had an 870 apart. However, the 590 is the ONLY pump shotgun to have survived the US Army's 3443E torture test. Supposedly, Remington did not submit the 870 for testing. Take that for what it's worth. They are both fine shotguns, st...

M1 Carbine is hard to beat for small statured shooters. Lightweight, handles like a dream, and minute-of-bad-guy accurate to a hundred and fifty yards. A whole bunch were just released through the CMP, so a GI spec "war baby" should be easy to find and renewed interest in the weapon might mean more ...

A keychain weapon that your girl might not have the inclination to use (especially with enough force/ability to make it effective) could do her more harm than good. She has to have the ability to trip the mental trigger that allows one to respond to violence and savagery with even more violence. For...

+1 to ghost rings Optical sights on a twelve gauge? Not so much... I think you'll find that ghost rings give you everything you need on a defensive shotgun. Also, I'd opt for the Tac-Star sidesaddle just to see if you like sidesaddles before spending a lot more money on one. They change the handling...

Fold it up and stick it back in your pocket. Two twenties and a ten make pretty good survival gear, sometimes.

If you must spend it... ammo. More ammo equals more practice.
