Re: 7.3 quake hits Japan, Fukushima province

RT are rebroadcasting NHK World on YouTube (sorry, it's the best I've found):

As I write this the reported tsunamis have all been below 1 metre in height.

7.3 quake hits Japan, Fukushima province

Been away from the forum for weeks to avoid the politics.

There are reports of a 7.3-magnitude earthquake in Japan today, just before 2100 UTC. In Fukushima province.

Plus a 3-metre tsunami warning.

No reports yet of damage.

Re: 2016 Storms-Hurricane Matthew Attention FL,GA, SC,NC!

This storm is an unusual one. This 5 day forecast shows it looping back around for another pass on the same area and then possibly into the GOM?! Yep, that seemed odd to me too! At first it was only a couple of the track models showing that, but as time has passed more of them feature that loop. Mo...

There's a selection of weather and traffic webcams here:

Obviously there's no guarantee that any of them will stay up!

That loop does look worrying.

I can't add any wisdom to this thread, but I can ask that you all take care of yourselves. Please keep us here on the forum informed without putting yourselves into danger.

Good luck!

There 100s more that have been decommissioned. Of those 100s will continue to produce radiation and most be tended to with pumps for years (some for decades) and would suffer a melt down if deprived of coolant. Decommissioned reactors are soon defuelled and made passively safe so they don't need ac...

I've read this thread and your blog. It looks and sounds like a great adventure :)

Do you know how far you walked during the day? What sort of temperatures did you experience? How much of your water did you need?

(Sorry for all the questions; your account got me thinking about this sort of stuff.)

Interesting :) I use Runkeeper to track my activities (walks, runs, cycling ...). I can upload the track data to Runkeeper's website and look at my tracks on the map. From the BBC live feed:
BBC wrote:Mayor de Blasio has described the injuries suffered by those injured in the explosion as "significant but at this point we can confirm that none of those injured are likely to die".
