Re: Want another FA-scenario?

Continue trying to get arousal from her, talking, sternum rub , etc. Sorry for being a noob, but why would you rub someone's sternum? Does it help to establish a regular breathing pattern when someone is breathing irregularly? Pain-response. It can be useful if the patient is of low/no response, to...

Are you counting Rockford in your call? I mean, yeah, it's like 100 miles away from Chicago, but Chi-town is closer than St. Louis.

Yeah, tell me about it. We want more training but it's like pulling teeth. They're afraid we'll leave if we become EMT's. Dear God. Around here, you almost can't get in with a FD (even the volly crews) unless you also train EMT-B at least. Nobody wants crew that's lower than EMT-P, so I can'...

We want AED's, but the lack of a medical director is proving difficult. We're in the process of using the EMS services MD. We're not allowed to use Oxygen but that didn't stop me. If a mans life is in danger, I'll use any and every available resource to help. Damn, L1z, sounds like your medical dir...

I mentioned something about possibly producing the ZS kit but he says that there is simply no market. *** The kits on the forum are not for the average person. Look at the kits that are sold as nicely stocked and compare to what you have, there is no market. I explained that the kits are from profe...

Cute kids Beth!!! Ben was home with me with stomach-flu yesterday, and I was going through a couple of MREs and HDRs, stripping them for parts, and Ben picked a couple of choice pieces for his consumption...perhaps not Dr. Spock's recommendation for stomach ailments, but he liked the fig newtons an...

Re: Suture Kits

I'm looking to find a basic suturing kit, but I'm having some trouble. I'm taking a course on taxidermy and suturing needles are easier to work with than sewing needles. I don't want to spend to much on this, something old and unsterile would be fine, I don't think the specimens would mind. Anyone ...

Goddamn. I'm going to be in the tattoo shop sometime in the next couple of weeks. I need to see if Randy can come up with a really cool tribal "DNR!" for my chest. Unfortunately, most hospitals won't honor a DNR tattoo. :( Some medico-legal mumbo jumbo about it not being "good enough" or something....

I can't explain why I feel compelled to help the injured but I know in my heart it is the right and honorable thing to do. The Talmud says it best, IMO... "If I am not for myself, who is for me? and if I am only for myself, what am I? and if not now, when?" These are words that I try to live by.

Needs more tape and Kerlix-type gauze. ;)
