I wouldn't classify "Not being able to hit the broad side of the barn" as a pet peeve. That's more of a legitimate complaint.

Casually bring up next time to spend some of the gun money on some lessons or at least a training video or two (Rap videos don't count!)

I use and teach that stance, but bare in mind that each has it's uses and should be used accordingly.

At least they admitted to not having the right scope to test the myth. If I had the money, I'd find the correct equipment that was used, send it to them(along with Gunny's book) and have them "Revisit" it later.
