Re: Minutemen groups in A PAW

Makes sense. This conversation was meant more as a "what if" type of thing.

AR10 longetivity and service life?

Will .308 wear out parts faster on the AR10 than the 5.56 does on the AR15? Any real differences to reliability and service life? Will the AR10s bolts, barrels and receivers hold up as long?

Im not in the market for one but I have owned a couple AR10s before and ive always wondered about this.

Re: Minutemen groups in A PAW

Again I wasnt looking for the definition of militia. In the context I was using it I meant armed citizens. Good answers to the question though. Some cops do have strong leadership skills but that dosnt mean only vets and cops would be in a towns militia. I like the TWD and all that but using hollywo...

Re: Minutemen groups in A PAW

In the apacolypse, even if there were cops they would need militiamen to aid them. As in citizens that volunteer to aid them with any security issues, there most likely would not be a huge government infrastructure and without that they will be targeted even more than they are now where they have th...

Re: Minutemen groups in A PAW

Not to sound like I'm avoiding the topic, JF89, but I agree with Flybynight (gah, I have to figure out a way to shorten your handle, so long to type but Fly doesn't sound right and night makes you sound like an emo superhero/vigilante). In almost any PAW scenario (with maybe the exception of all ou...

Re: Minutemen groups in A PAW

Thats getting off topic, I specified I didnt want to get in to debates on the definition. Minutemen were citizens and vets that grouped together to protect their town, they were an irregular force of plain clothed citizens.

Re: Minutemen groups in A PAW

I think modern day Minutemen would look most likely similar to like this http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/09/16/article-urn:publicid:ap.org:e2502cc8ee55494e814fdb18a16bc901-51Zc1baJWc21ccf2e7f5694794f-917_634x439.jpg I specified in a "In a post apocalyptic world (PAW)". There would be no cops ar...

Minutemen groups in A PAW

Im not talking so much about a survival or prepper group but an actual group of people that are responsible for protecting their town and being ready in A minutes notice. What do you think A modern day minutemans gear, loadout, etc would look like? How about their communications and transportation? ...

Well,.. when you ain't got it its about the $$. Personally while expensive glass is fun, I don't think its a must. I like Burris' AR332. Its around $200 with the fat reticle on Amazon. I think its made in the Philippines. I shot through 2 and the glass is nice. As good as any of their mid budget sc...

A judge put a restraining order on the guy providing the 3d gun info so its currently all shut down. My bad if that was too political.

Re: Vortex Spitfire vs Primary Arms ACSS vs Athlon Midos Prisim scopes?

For me, it would all be acedemic and theory. I don't have experience with any of them. I know of people who really like the Vortex and the Primary Arms. I think the Vortex is made in the US? That would seal the deal for me. When I have more experience I might have a more informed opinion. But I jus...

I think there was a panic before 2015. And then the zombie craze hit. And then the panic and zombie thing settled around 2015. And then serious prepping has surged since then with trump and global warming. But its about real prepping and bugging out now. Not the zombie craze. The problem is we are ...

Re: Are AR15 FSP set ups obsolete?

I wonder why the military or LE havnt switched to freefloat set ups? 1) they don't particularly care what people want 2) because of budgets they also keep guns in circulation much longer then the average trendy gun owner 3) they have While front site posts are still quite common, and likely will be...

I have a number of questions about homegunsmithing a ar15 (And others but I thought I should keep the topics separate to reduce confusion) Part one With the ar15 what are the parts someone should stock up on for repairs and reconditioning fit extended long term use? What wears the most, what needs ...

Ah sadly, the world as you know it has ended. You have been dropped into the Mad Max type wasteland (Somewhere between MM I and MMII) populated with bad guys and slow moving zombies in the State formerly known as Texas. You and your four closest friends have arrived at the local gun shop with coin ...

Re: Your dream set up for dealing with SHTF/ragers

I also like the idea of an island. Fresh water perhaps, maybe in the great lakes. But then you hafta deal with cold. Regardless, I'd like to have beefy fenced areas... enough room for goats, pigs, rabbits, and chickens. Then have a separate area for basic crops. I'd also like castle... to keep thin...

Re: Are AR15 FSP set ups obsolete?

As much as magnified optics have done away with fixed front sights (Low Power Variables being recommended by many opinion leaders it seems) the nail in the coffin was grip style. Most people want a 16" or less barrel, and also want to grab the fore end more or less where the gas block is on a midle...

Re: Your dream set up for dealing with SHTF/ragers

Dream setup would be a small island with a wall around it and I will take North Korea's nuke stockpile . I would declare it the Republic of jf89 and launch nukes at trespassers. Every year or so there would be an election but I would always win (by using Vladimir Putin tactics on my opponent). This ...
