Re: Firearm Categories

I don't have firearms categories. I have needs and I own firearms to fill those needs. I own various firearms that fill roles from hunting to varmint control to self-defence. I even own some that are just fun guns or novelty items.

Re: Firearm Categories

I guess two questions..... 1) Based on that list, are you looking for something practical or just for the latest Beretta "tacticool" looking firearm you can find? 2) What purpose do you want it to serve? A Benelli R1 is a nice hunting rifle but it will have limited defence capabilities with it's 5 r...

Re: rotator cuff injury

I tore my rotator cuff in a car accident about 8 years ago - it was an accident that I was lucky to survive. I hit a guard rail after sliding on black ice at 100 km/h and was subsequently t-boned by a fully loaded 18 wheeler tanker truck. I rolled the jeep at least 3- 5 times and had my hands on the...

Re: Colt's new smart gun?

Some more details here: http://www.funker530.com/canadas-new-smart-assault-rifle-unveiled/ It uses cased telescoped ammunition in a polymer case to reduce ammo weight by 40%. The “smart” designation comes from the weapon’s ability to access a command network in which the gun can receive data, pinpoi...

It is -28C outside my door right now and with wind chill, it feels like -38. Even my Labrador Retriever Brutus won't go outside for any longer than it takes him to do his business and get back inside!

Evidently they were obsessed with death and mass shootings and were fixated on the Columbine school shootings.

It does get cold but this is way out of the normal. We didn't get this cold even during the "polar vortex" last year.

For sure. I think we all need to be vigilant. If these clowns had such a plan for Halifax, there could well be others with similar designs on other cities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and other free nations.

Major Valentines Day Terror Plot Foiled By RCMP in Canada

This is a breaking story with few details yet released but it appears as if the RCMP have narrowly averted what could have been a major Valentines Day terrorist attack in Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada. Three men from the Halifax area and one woman from an undisclosed American city planned to carry out...

Re: Five-round semi or ten-round bolty?

maybe not relevant, but in canada a semi auto center fire rifle mag limit is 5 but an exception is the garand where you are allowed 8. I would choose that one. Technically speaking yes...However, see my post above. The limit is based on the magazine and what firearm and ammunition it was designed a...

Keep in mind too that the Ruger Gunsite Scout also has built in standard scope bases and even ships with Ruger rings. You can scope it with any rifle scope.

Re: How many rifles for a group with 11 shooters.

What sort of threat are you anticipating? One big advantage that you have is that you can easily prepare fighting positions well in advance and take the time to pre-sight the whole area. Having everyone armed with an AK is not necessarily the best bet. Use it as your primary long arm for sure but yo...

Re: Modern Hunting Rifle

Are Norinco M14 rifles still cheap in Canada? Last I heard they could be found for less than $500, but that was years ago so I imagine the price has gone up. I can understand why someone might prefer an AR/FAL style rifle to an M14, but if a M14 can be purchased so inexpensively it seems like it wo...

Re: Modern Hunting Rifle

Re: Modern Hunting Rifle

Looks good!!! But over 3 grand is a little steep!!! I suspect the price will come down over time. Here in Canada, we pay a premium for non-restricted AR-like rifles. You can buy a Norinco M4 knockoff (restricted) for $600 but with few exceptions, anything "tacticool" that is non-restricted costs a ...

Modern Hunting Rifle

Fallout also contains Gamma particles which are the most dangerous. Alpha and Beta particles are very low energy and require very little shielding. Clothing, a piece of paper, human skin can block them. Gamma particles on the other hand are like x-rays and can easily penetrate most materials and the...

Re: Five-round semi or ten-round bolty?

Since this thread was originally started, there have been some new developments: 1) Readily available AIA Enfield Mags that work flawlessly Norinco M14s - some are even made in the 20rd length but limited to 10 rds as Lee Enfield Mags. 2) Readily available Beowulf AR mags that can accept about 15 rd...
