Re: Learning to hunt
Not sure your area, but if you look into a sportsman's or gun club, they will have people and resources to try out. Even if there is an application or meetings or fees or sponsorship stipulations, if you call and explain your situation, most places will work with you. I live in North Georgia, close...

Re: Learning to hunt
Hello longtime lurker, 1st time poster. I have always wanted to learn how to hunt and learn how to provide meat for myself and my family, but I really have no idea what to do. No one in my family hunts and I really dont know of any resources for first timers like me. My state does provide a Learn T...

Re: Sig M17 or M18?
My bias: I've had 2 Glock builds. I sold both shortly after building. The ergonomics are dog shit on them. Slightly better if you swap out half the gun for a new aftermarket lower. But then why buy one to replace everything? The aftermarket is hugeeeeee which is great for someone like me who tinker...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
My wife and I were talking about the new rifle purchase. She noticed that she suddenly sees new faces and subjects in the videos I watch. She has concluded that I don't actually buy guns because I need the gun. Rather, I get bored watching a certain cast of video makers so I buy a new gun to have t...

Re: Looking into a new pistol
My first thought is the ole EAA Witness large frame. Can swap slides for everything from 38 super to 45 ACP. Not sure about 357 sig though. And it will be pricey to get parts for that you might as well just buy 2 guns. If I wanted a 10mm, I'd go EAA or Springfield. I considered a police trade SIG 22...

Re: Losing your job, all your preps, and how to bounce back.
Excellent post and congrats on the progress!! One thing that's kinda of topic. If your wife still wants to go back to school, make sure she makes it a priority soon. So many have dreams, get side tracked, and never do it. Having said that, skip on LPN. It's kinda of a mean joke amongst CNAs that the...

Re: Covid-19 Leads to Surge of Guns & Ammo Sales
As far as handgun ammo, only thing they had plenty of was .40 and .38 special for defense loads. Fortay FTW every panic.... it has been amazingly consistent. Yep... Makes me want to grab a .40 for emergency purposes... But then again, I always have ammo anyways and don't rely on panic buying. I won...

Re: Covid-19 Leads to Surge of Guns & Ammo Sales
Went to a blood drive today at the local Cabela's. Decided to run in really quick and get some gear for spring that I needed (life jacket). Didn't want to go in, but it is what it is. Place was deserted. Except for the mob at the gun and ammo section. And it was a mob. As far as handgun ammo, only t...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
Why don't you like hammer fired? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'd like to know because I've never owned a SxS and only ever shot one once. The main thing is I want to be able to choose which barrel to fire, and I want that process to be very intuitive without having to slow down to figure it out. N...

Re: Rural property, but the locals don't want you there ...
Reminds me of that South Park episode years ago about Hawaii... Where all the people who lived there for like 5 years call themselves native Hawaiians and hate all the new transplants. Hilarious and true. One thing about this virus.... Especially on Facebook... Is it's bringing out the worst in peop...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
Hmmm, I don't own a label maker but I do have half a roll of labels around here somewhere. I like the electrical tape idea. It probably wouldn't stick on that great but I imagine I'd be able to peel it off and clean it pretty easily. I've only got black electrical tape but my paint pen over top of ...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
Do you folks know if masking tape will corrode a blued firearm over time? I'm thinking of potentially having a "community" double barrel at my grandmother's house. We frequently have call to blast some animal there and there and bears frequently wander through. Most of my relatives have experience ...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
Well, it appears Cheaper Than Dirt has shot themselves in the ass again. I guess they didn't learn anything after the Sandy Hook panic. They're charging 900 bucks for 1k of WWB 5.56 among others and people are not happy. Their website is down for "scheduled maintenance" and their Facebook page is b...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
I don't know if the run on .22lr was artificial ... The market had pumped out a .22 conversion or analogue for every popular center fire for 2-3 years minimum prior to Sandy Hook. A week later there was paranoia about legislation coming to grab guns and restrict ammo purchases. Everyone bought ammo...

Good news about this is my "anti-gun" family is asking me for advice on this pandemic situation as they are freaking out... Nothing like emotional/fear driven changes of heart
That's a statement of experience verses a political statement.

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
I haven't checked the local ammo situation mostly because I don't want to deal with the TP hoarding folks in my AO. Those people are freaking insane. That and I'm fairly certain a couple shops in my AO are already jacking up the cost of ammo to take advantage of desperate folks. There's one...

ARe you talking about 97-06 Jeep 4.0 6 cylinders? I've never heard of that or read it anywhere. And I'm a fairly long term and very active member of one of the larger Jeep forums. It's actually dedicated to that year range only. Unless you talking about another engine? My bad. This was the previous...

Re: Ram 1500 or Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Where do you live that you can find a running $400 Jeep? That was a great score. Those engines never die.If it's the same inline 6 that's in my "99 Wrangler. Old tractor engines. They just go and go. They don't make them like that anymore. I know that's a cliche. But literally the last time we had ...
