Re: Backpack advice.
to sit off the ground when backpacking have you considered a nylon hammock? In the field, nothing beats a hammock! NOTHING :D Agreed! Right now I'm rocking an LA police gear big boy, and have another GI surplus modular frame. Haven't actually been able to test either out, but that's what moose seas...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
I'd be down for 2 or 3 custom lowers.
That being said, I really like building off of Aero's enhanced lowers. I wanna say it eliminates all roll pins, but I'd have to peak at it again.

Re: Anyone have a clever way to secure firearms cheaply?
I've posted about it on here before. I never finished my project, but I was gonna build a hot water tank gun cabinet.
Basically, hollow out a hot water tank, make a hidden lockable door. Put it in a closet with fake pipes.
What criminal ever tried to bust open a hot water tank?

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
Guess who just got a Beretta 92X for $560!!!! I'm guessing Cabela's released your gun to you ? They give an actual explanation or did they keep up with the Beretta corporate freeze schtick? Got it at Sportsman's on a price match with discount. Managers wouldn't explain anything at Bass Pro nor Cabe...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
So, Canada's instituted an "assault weapons" ban after the Nova Scotia incident. The only comment I can make without literally running into the "no politics" rule at a sprint is "I disapprove, but it's not my country". There's an old saying that goes "Not my circus, not my monkeys." that fits this ...

Re: Sig M17 or M18?
Can always go stock 320, get the cheaper x frame grip.
https://www.sigsauer.com/store/parts/grip-modules.html
Didn't help with the trigger though. And it'll be a compromise.
At this rate, try the Walther Q5 match....

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
In regards to the SU16, get the under folder stock vs fold in half rifle. I think it's the "c" model. I used to have one. Kinda sad I sold it, but it was when I was in grad school and needed AR parts money. Why? Just preference, or is there a functional difference? Little bit of both. You can shoot...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
Only .243 AR I've seen came from Olympic Arms and those were pretty rare even back when Olympic was still around. You honestly had a better chance of finding a newly released Keltec rifle like the RDB or even an SU-16 (of which I still kind of want despite having an actual AR15 now) than one of tho...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
I guess what I meant to say was: "Has .300 blk been adopted my any militaries for their standard service round"? Probably in use more than .204 Ruger, which Pete was looking for in the initial suggestion. But I was under the impression that "fighting rifle" was not the primary purpose. But, the rum...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
Pistol Pete, you talking bolt gun or semi auto? 7.62x39 is another great shooting cartridge that's very mild but useful. Or even a PCC. I just know from my experience, the wife prefers medium rounds... Not big bore, but not speed demons. Balance between recoil and muzzle blast/sound. Those fast rou...

Oh, and I agree with the hive mind for the EAA Witness. I love CZ pattern pistols and the large frame guns with swapping uppers is awesome!!!

Re: Sig M17 or M18?
I like Garand Thumb, and I just watched that video while cooking breakfast. His comment about the $250 grip frame is absurd. I own a SIG250, so here's my biased take: the grip feels great. Shares the same standard grip as the 320. I've picked up other lowers for $40, retail. But you don't need to. N...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
I never shot one, but I assume the 204 is fiercely loud because of it being super charged speedy.PistolPete wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 11:03 am
On another note, talk me out of 204 Ruger for a recoil sensitive girlfriend build. Trying to balance recoil vs weight and move her up from 22 magnum.
Maybe just a regular .223 would work.

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo
I had something odd happen today. So my wife and I agreed that since I bought her a ring a while ago, I still need my "engagement ring" purchase... When we first met, it was gonna be a Henry Golden Boy. But now, I think a good forever gun is a Beretta 92. So anyways.... Cabela's/Bass Pro have a stea...

Re: Sig M17 or M18?
I’m with you on Glock ergos...not a fan, unless it’s tiny like my G42 and G43. My G21 shot like a dream, but I literally hated to use it because it felt like a chunk of 2x4 lumber in my paws. Downside of growing up on 1911s and Beretta 92s I suppose. Much better after a lot of frame work...actually...

Re: Learning to hunt
Sadly I'm not aware of any "Tinder for Trophies" where you can just match up with a local guide to take you. If you want to go digital dating, your next bet would be looking up a Georgia hunting/fishing/outdoor forum and asking for help on there. Might get lucky and not get catfished. Do you have an...

Not sure your area, but if you look into a sportsman's or gun club, they will have people and resources to try out. Even if there is an application or meetings or fees or sponsorship stipulations, if you call and explain your situation, most places will work with you. I live in North Georgia, close...
