Re: Long-term stock market investment

You want something that pays you dividends... look them up. Stuff that never goes out of style, Procter and Gamble P&G, they always sell soap and stuff, people always buy it, pays a good dividend. During the depression my Grandfathers worked the Rail Roads, you always have to move stuff, so Southern...

Re: Best Jerry cans---and where to buy

Ebay... don't pay more than $25.00 shipped.

You will get some that need to be repaired, cook out on the turkey burner, weld up, do not braze.

Better than any plastic 5 gallon can.

Of course you are joking a cup(never mind, re-read the cap) of bleach in a 5 gallon container of water... your whites will be whiter for sure.

Actually I have a small grove of soapberry trees, you can also grind them up and drop them in the trout stream and the fish will float to the surface paralyzed.

Re: Installing new electrical

Romex in conduit is a problem, which is why electricians run single wires of white, black, green/bare. The NEC in all their wisdom considers a romex cable for fill factor as the widest dimension of the romex, I know, I know that doesn't make sense, but who ever said the NEC made sense. I'm not sure ...

Re: Monotube boiler for steam direct injection to heat water

Its a good point about scale build up where the water boils into steam. Our water is fairly soft - but it'd still build up. A periodic clean-in-place or the like would be necessary, or a rebuild. Sorry you don't need to heat it to steam to deposit scale, my solar collectors don't boil the water but...

He spent 70 days in Alaska on his own with no food. All he brought along (besides equipment) was salt and pepper. At the top of his blog is a link to his gear list. Of note he took a rocket stove and a pressure cooker with canning jars with him. Well... I'll be honest with you 70 days of the best t...

I used to sleep outside all summer long in Tucson, cool breezes, kept a sheet over me because in the AM the flies would be pretty nasty.

I don't think I can do it now due to way too much wear and tear on my back. Getting old sucks.

Can you store gasoline in one, I would say yes, they ship olive oil in them all the time, and the 5 gal gas cans are made of the same kind of plastic, but they are not UV resistant.
