Re: AR-10's, what to avoid?
Anyone consider a Benelli R1 (or Browning BAR) instead of an AR-10? I think Pete had one of these: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/36_582/products_id/55807/FN+Herstal+10+%2B+1+308+Winchester+w20%22+Light+Fluted+Barrel But, IIRC, the mags are proprietary & kinda pricey. Yea...

I can keep my main living area livable with a space heater if I close off my bedrooms, but my place is on the small side. I keep a spare space heater in the basement if needed. After that I've got a propane heater I, a kerosene heater and if everything goes to hell, a small wood burner stove I could...

Gun Mag Warehouse usually has good prices... http://gunmagwarehouse.com/brands/glock/?aw_shopbybrand_brand=8&limit=all Speaking of Glock magazines, does anyone have any feedback, positive or negative, on the PMAG ones? Re: When Are Firearms Too Old to Shoot Safely?
I've got a Swedish Mauser stamped 1917 and I plan to shoot it when it's 100 years old with full power ammo because it's in good shape. The local pawn shop has some H&R revolvers made in the 80's and Lorcin handguns made in the 90's that I would not fire with any ammo, because they are not in good sh...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife
Ok need some advice from the glock shooters. I just bought a just right carbine AR-9 that utilizes glock magazines. I'm looking at getting some 33 round magazines and midway has promag ones for $15 less than the glock manufactured ones. Will the Promag mags suffice for range time and plinking? I'd ...

So... like a firearm or even a club? Unexpected that is. "A booby trap is a device or setup that is intended to kill, harm or surprise a person, unknowingly triggered by the presence or actions of the victim. As the word trap implies, they often have some form of bait designed to lure the victim to...

I think murder holes need to make comeback in domestic architecture. I'm not even joking a little bit. Enough is enough. Yeah, let's maybe keep the discussion of booby-traps and the like off the forums, please. Yes, I consider murder holes in a modern home to be a type of booby trap, something unex...

I've had two squibs in handguns, one in factory loaded 9x18 and one when I started reloading and missed dropping powder in a .44 mag. (I changed up my process since then and haven't repeated the mistake) Both were very obvious they were squibs and both were not easily cleared, taking the guns out of...

Re: JHP Ammo for 9mm AR
You can look at ammo that is made for sub guns, it's often higher pressures, harder primers and heavier bullets. Wideners just had some IMI stuff for sale in 9mm : You don't need to use light bullets to get a velocity advantage from the longer barrel. Whether your bullet is 90 grains or 147 grains y...

Hey all, I'm trying to find a good site to buy reloading supplies. Most places that I've looked aren't much if at all cheaper (with shipping costs added in) than retail. Is there some secret squirrel (or covert chinchilla if you will) site for getting bullets and powder? I'm good for quite a while ...

Re: AR-10's, what to avoid?
OP, I've seen some crazy sales on LWRC rifles if you want a piston. (mostly 6.8, but a REPR in .308 would be awesome) I've seen the deals on those, but a bit pricey for my blood. I actually shot one of those maybe 6 (5? 8? I don't really remember) at the Silencer Shoot near Memphis. It was not reli...

Re: The Suburban Shotgun: Is it really needed?
I think shotguns certainly have some perks, but maybe aren't considered the goto gun they once were. If you can only have one long gun for hunting, a shotgun is where it's at. Use shot for small game and birds, slugs or buckshot for medium game and varmint control (like coyotes). Buckshot will let i...

Re: Suggestions for compact gun cleaning kit
Does anyone make a better, lighter, smaller, faster &/or more Ninja-like cleaning rod? The USGI model is adequate but I wonder if better exists... I haven't found one, but I'd love to know if one exists. The USGI units are good enough to clear a barrel, but not great cleaning rods in general. [EDIT...

I shot 50 rounds through a full auto Tommy gun today it was awesome. The gun store/rental guy told me it weighs 11 pounds. Then adding the 50 round drum adds like 2 to 2.5 pounds. So, like hardly any recoil to my shoulder. I totally agree, they are really controllable. I'd love to have one j...

Re: Suggestions for compact gun cleaning kit
If you need a cleaning kit in your BOB, another vote for the caliber specific Otis kits. The biggest thing they lack though is a cleaning rod, and in my opinion a cleaning rod is more important than a cleaning kit in a bug out or emergency situation. Why? If your gun can't go a couple hundred rounds...

Re: AR15 Pistol Build HELP!!!!
I've heard this but I didn't know if there was a reason why other than the manual saying so, for liability/warranty reasons. I've seen people on Youtube sling some steel cased downrange just fine. Is it the usual "steel cased is hard on the extractor" business?? I'm not sure, could be potential ext...

Re: AR15 Pistol Build HELP!!!!
Well, Black Friday sales were lack luster this year compared to last year. I found no real incentive to buy anything from anywhere. PSA is still in the running for an AR15 pistol build that will end up being around $500 with FFL fees. Butttt.... since I'm looking at a range toy, I've been eyeing up...

I've been using them exclusively for my 300 BLK pistol and haven't had a problem. I picked up 10 of them with pink followers for cheap a few years back.12_Gauge_Chimp wrote: I've been finding deals on those Troy mags fairly often, but wasn't sure if they are good mags or not.

Aside from Pmags and USGI mags, what are the cheapest AR mags out there that actually work and aren't made by Promag or Tapco ? I'm needing to get a few for my upcoming AR build and I'm not wanting to spend a lot on mags alone. You can find Troy mags cheap if you look for deals, cheaper than Pmags ...

Re: Optic for my .375 H&H
I'm probably just uniformed, but I've never really understood BDC reticles on most scopes. I understand it if a person gets one custom made for their favorite rifle and hand load, but otherwise won't you end up using holdover anyway? Maybe people buy a BDC and then spend a lot of time developing a ...
