Re: Unrest in Memphis

BTW when a person dies federal student loans are automatically forgiven. That was kind of what I was thinking. But hey, who knows? Maybe they are just such good citizens that they will insist upon paying back the student loan even when they don't have to. Not saying it was the case here, but genera...

Re: Unrest in Memphis

BTW do you really think the gofund me organizer is going to do anything but abscond with the $? The article said that that they were going to pay for funeral costs, pay off any students loans he may have had out and then give the rest to the family. I hardly see any plot holes with that narrative a...

Re: Seattle is Dying

NOLA has a huge homeless issue and the vast majority are not from NOLA. We get influxes during Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest. They set up tent cities under the over passes and pan handle aggressively to the point where my building's security has to act to keep them out of the lobby, off the property and ...

Re: Southern California Earthquake Swarm Takes Unexpected Turn

The sum total of knowledge regarding plate tectonics, vulcanism and earthquakes today is roughly equal to level of knowledge when i got a minor in geology. Back then the prevailing wisdom regarding micro quakes was that no one had a clue as to whether or not they were "good or bad" just that they oc...

Re: Climate change. World ends by 2050.

Hmmm.. I think my comment about geology and the many changes and mass extinctions the earth has seen in its 4mm years +/- was not sufficiently clear. Humans are a very recent "arrival" to Earth and its climate. Humans existing in any significant population size are in geological terms are current ne...

Re: Climate change. World ends by 2050.

Climate change fiction has been a very popular subject. This is the first book I read on the subject as a child. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Forgotten_Enemy One thing to remember, the earth evolved from a lifeless void without an atmosphere into the world we see today. There have been numerous...

Since I'm right in the path, I hope you'll forgive me for trying to blow it over your way.

I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow the storm over you! :D
I do not blame at all for that and in reality at this the entire GOM west of the MS river could be its ultimate target.

It is a great idea. Also please do feel free to post that here.

We do tend to be US centric. That said the US is vast area with many geographic differences and needs.

Still many things like health, water and food tend to be universal.

I would find reading about the difference quite interesting.

I keep cash at home. I have it mainly in $20 and $10 bills. I aslo keep a couple of $100 in my wallet. I do this because I am concerned about credit cards not being accpted and needing gas. In a hurricane aftermath it is common to see cash only signs. No power no cc prcoessing. No cash no gas. Thus i...

CA,TX and belive it or not MS have similar separatist movements with varying levels support.

It is unlikely any will get the support needed to achieve this through lawful means. The MS one in particular.
