During clinical rotations in Burn care. But honestly I’m just kidding, Wound vacs definitely have their place in recovery. Happily I’m a caveman paramedic so I don’t have to worry about placing them.JeeperCreeper wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 2:08 amI'd be curious as to what setting you got your views on them? SNF?

Re: Dermabond not letting wounds weep a bad thing?
Liquid skin on a paper cut that has been well cleaned prior to sealing, probably ok. But yes, sealing a legit(read as: Non superficial) wound without throughout cleaning or prophylactic antibiotics can be a recipe for sepsis and disaster. Unpopular opinion: Wound vac/drains are for Docs that are too...

Re: VA recognizes Ketamine as emergency PTSD Treatment
Its a lower dose administered over time. No where near the 1-2MG/KG RSI induction dose. Yeah, that’s what I assumed. On a slightly unrelated note, Do AZ protocols have ketamine for use in excited delirium? I know that was a big deal out here in PA when they finally got that approved for the protoco...

How long were you planning on wearing this and to what capacity were you looking to be able to function? For example, were you intending just to use it to be able to evacuate out of an area or as a wildland firefighting setup? As a provider and a hazmat technician I find myself in a mask/respirator ...

Leatherman is a quality name, but I'm not big on foldable anything. I can understand that but when they are unfolded they are very sturdy with no movement tolerance. Though honestly I can say I’ve only had an issue with the folding mechanism and it was when a bit of my nitrile glove got caught whil...

But I kind of like this one too, my current kit has no shears and I have seen shears as a useful thing I was a feild medic. Shears - six is one. Stock deep. :D Disposable shears can be convenient since they are inherently cheaper and there is less annoyance if you lose them. But I’m the spirit of “...

Sorry I’m late to this party but TacMed Solutions has some great stocked kits too. It’s worth a look, their casualty throw kits are great too.

That’s interesting, Ketamine can be a powerful but useful tool for us prehospital providers. I’m curious what the dose is for this but from the articles it sounds like it’s a slow IV drip.

Im not a provider. Nor am I affiliated with Canvas or Save a Life Initiative. The reason I ask is because AHA(The American Heart Association) are the ones who oversee the Heartsaver, BLS, ALS, ACLS , PALS (and a ton of other medical alphabet soup) certifications and courses. This company, National ...

Thank you painiac, that is a good quality write-up with a lot of great info. Also thanks to dallas, for the differential diagnosis list. Its always good to keep other possible causes in mind and not focus on your first initial impression as you run the risk of ignoring other possibilities. Only thin...

Yes, that news report is correct, I was a friend of Steven's, I purchased many firearms from him over the years, he made me an awesome sheath for my Bushman, he even made me a Kydex holster for my KelTec. Sadly, he passed away last summer. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him miss him g...

I'm going to order a sample pack of these to play around with on the ambulance during 24hr shifts. Should be fun. I am going to have to retrain myself though cause this is what their website says. The best way to absorb the energy from each pouch is to swallow the saliva it produces. When you ...

I worked it this year; my first holiday season in EMS. Got to ring in the new year with a pair of drunk teenagers in the back of the boo boo bus. It wasn't too bad, until midnight hit. Then it went batshit nuts. We were close to 100 runs in for the year by 0600. Like you mean your whole service doe...
