I left the house at 6am for my daily drive to Battle Creek. After getting getting 15 miles in 45 minutes I turned around. The expressway was just one lane of tire tracks, vis was about 300 feet, less at times. I just couldn't see driving 50 miles in this stuff with tons more on the way. Called in an...

Damn. I was tired when I picked it up. It does indeed have a 24 inch barrel. Grooved for heat disipation rigidty. Getting used to the cold Michigan weather and now it has only gone down hill. I'll break in and print in the spring. I'll post photos and give an update then. I'm loading some 62g bullet...

One of the things I gave my wife for Christmas was a dual filter particle half mask. She works in one of the oldest building in the city. I said that after watching the 911 attacks that her building would have way too much asbestos and that if there were a fire, explosion, impact, she could get out ...

About 18 years ago I was doing combat camera documenting an army ranger unit doing rubber boat traing with the SEALs at Egland FL and had to shave. I took the lens off one of my cameras and used the reflex mirror as a shaving mirror. Worked fine.

In most states some form of pepper spray, mace, is legal. It is a bit short of what police carry. You could even use a can of toilet cleaner and make it a bad day for any attacker.

This rifle has a "rodgers" trigger. What ever that means, but It has 1/8th set pull up and then a minor squeeze and "kaboom" very predictable and expected. My Steyr SSG with twin set triggers scares me every time. Again this guy is a grouch but you get exactly what you pay for.

I did night pistol qualification for my auxiliary police slot with a small department in Michigan. While I did see the two ports on my Clock 17C, it was nowhere near anything that would "night blind" an individual. I did have a Colt Python however that had too big a cylinder/forcing cone gap, and th...

My shooting partner got me one of these when we were doing NRA High Power events. I picked up the jag that allows it to fit through the .22 bore on my Anschutz rifle also. Clever design, small and with the supplied patches you can run it though the bore six times and have a clean patch with each pas...

308 ammo is out there and even some is cheap. But you must decide what are you going to do with it? Blast away battle rifle? Precision sniper ammo for 800 to 1000 yds? Surplus ammo is drying up so decide soon and purchase. The price is only going to go up. Sadly I need to buy match ammo for my Steyr...

I have a Glock 17C and while it does give an upward blast (more visible at night) I'd be hard pressed to think any ported Glock would produce such results. I've done a lot of IPSC matches with several ported and compensated pistols , but if the firearm was held out 12 inches from the body, I can't i...

kid left in car

I just was going to pick up a few last things for the christmas weekend. I parked in a crowded lot, very small compared to a big box store. I walked past a running car. I have always been amazed by folks who will leave their car running and go into a shop. I looked at a front seat filled with packag...

My pack was delivered today. Weow, very nice. Some may say it's a little small, but I love it. I have an inch bag that's a big military bitch. Hate the idea of carrying it very far. This new bag is great. Lots of places for gear and such. I just relegated my other BOB for my wife. She is reluctant b...

Years ago a friend of mine explained repairing your own car to me in this way. You can buy the new part you need, break it trying to install it, buy another and get it installed for less than it will cost you at a garage. Pretty cool and mostly true. Today however with all the computer chip based ve...

I own some of all three AR-AK-HK. Sounds like my cat with a hairball. Anyway I've only carried the AR's when out of the country. My friends (all non-military types) ask me what weapon I like most. I tell them, my radio.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, drug manufactures are required to indicate an expiration date or shelf life date, basically because there is little assurance that a medication given after this regulatory date will continue to be effective or safe. So, it is more of a safety net for bo...
