Re: Multicaliber rifle project XCR switching to ACR -any adv

Nope. As long as the barrel is over 18.5" you can go out in the bush and shoot targets or hunt. But doing that with a .22lr caliber AR15 would get you jail time.

Re: Multicaliber rifle project XCR switching to ACR -any adv

Thanks for the input. I have a 15.7" AR15 (and may be getting another 10.5" or just the upper) but all AR15s where I'm at are restricted and only allowed to be used on government approved shooting ranges. The XCR and ACRs can be used on private and public land providing the barrel is over 18.6". Not...

Multicaliber rifle project XCR switching to ACR -any advice?

While I had a plan to own a few guns of each common caliber I used (for pistols and rifles) I also wanted some guns that would act as multicaliber platform. I picked up a Robinson Armament XCR-L with 5.56mm, 7.62x39 and .300Blk with plans to buy 6.5G and 6.8spc conversion kits in the future. I like ...

Re: Getting stopped at border (please try to avoid politics)

(shrug) I carry a cheap travel phone ($24.95) at Best Buy. I can swap the SIM in under a minute. I can make and take telephone calls while out of pocket. I keep a minimum phone list and nothing else on the phone - this in case of theft or loss. If you have wedded (or welded) yourself to a smart pho...

Re: How To Defend Your BOL with a Small Group for Dummies

Old thread but interesting none the less. In my group of dummies there's the following; -Two light infantry NCOs (lots of weapon quals, lots of recce experience, one has CBRN defence and decontamination background and other one is skilled as a vehicle mechanic, welder and cook.) -Ex light infantry t...

Re: Tomahawk recomendations

Thanks for the links guys. Those Winkler blades are beautiful but damn expensive. This one really caught my eye but I think if I dropped $1000 on it I'd need to learn how to defend myself against it pretty quick. https://s3.amazonaws.com/mgm-content/sites/armslist/uploads/posts/2014/07/21/3303375_01...

Tomahawk recomendations

Hey all, serious request. I'm in the market to upgrade my SOG Tactical Tomahawk to something meaner. (this is the closest to any sort of blade forum I post on) I'm planning on using it on a deployment in an urban or built up environment. I can't decide if I want to lean more towards something design...

Re: The ZS collaborative Fixed Blade Recommendation Thread

Instead of making a whole new thread I'll just put this here. I'm looking to replace my fixed blade knife. I'm presently switching back and forth between a SEAL2000 and SEAL Pup. My SEAL Pup got mangled and I was going to just pick up another one but figured I might try something else. I've narrowed...

Seeking improvised shelter ideas for winter warfare course

Hey all, I'm looking for pictures of improvised winter shelters for anything from 1 up to 4 people, preferably shelters you have used or you can vouch for. I'm searching the forums here and trying to narrow down the hits but thought I might see if anyone wants to throw out some pictures (or links) a...

Sighting in for 100 meters on a 25/50 meter range

I'm using an AR15 with a 14.5" barrel and Elcan Spectre DR 1-4x scope, 55 grain full metal jacket. I want to sight the rifle in so it's zero matches the 100meter mark in the scope but I only have access to a 25 meter and 50 meter range. like this image http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g370/rtruzz...

Re: Building a long range rifle- range or maneuverability-Re

Figured I'd update this instead of making a new thread. So I've picked up the AICS 2.0 folding stock (which felt like a second mortgage) and just got my hands on a Remington 700 AAC-SD with 20 inch barrel. Not exactly impressed with the feel of the rifle, the qualify seems lacking and it really feel...

Escape and Evasion kit- eastern europe.

I'm looking at putting together a theater-specific Escape and Evasion kit and wanted to throw the idea out on here to do some brain storming. I have a little survival kit in an Altoids tin but I was looking for something a little beefier. I'm leaning towards something the size of a utility pouch I c...

Hey guys. Sometimes I like thinking about stuff like this when I am out for a jog. So: What gear would you want. nt / equipment would you suggest if you had a group of four people for a foot patrol / mutual assistance group for SHTF. Like if you were part of a larger group doing a patrol, or sendin...

Re: Building a long range rifle- range or maneuverability-Re

How come most sniper rifles/precision rifles seem to sport a 24-26" barrel if it doesn't play that much into accuracy? I haven't shot much precision rifles but I've seen a significant difference in accuracy between a 14.5" barreled AR15 and a 20" barreled one. Not sure if it's related or not but I k...

Re: Blessed weapons- guns only or ammunition too?

That's really interesting. I never suspected it would be an officially accepted practice but it stands to reason that it would be done. (More so for larger vessels and machines I'd imagine) There doesn't seem to be a standard in sci-fi reading. In the Shadowrun universe the emotional association to ...

Building a long range rifle- range or maneuverability-Rem700

I've decided to put together a long range precision rifle. Originally I was putting together a DMR M14 but decided to sell it, buy an AR15 and put together a bolt action rifle. I have a pretty specific idea in mind but wanted to get some input on a few points. For optics I'll be using a 6x-24x scope...

I'm still trying to wrap my head around a new concept on steam (online game community or whatever). One of my last vists there I seen an option that let you pay $69 and you can buy a game that's in development and help debug the game. Somewhere games went from you paying to buy a finished product to...

Re: Role of the pistol in a bugout???

It seems to me if the long guns are out to play, nobody is going to put them down unless they are in a secure place with other people ready to start shooting while you get yours into action. I think the idea of setting your long gun aside to do something like cook or poop is a bad idea. But maybe I...
