You mean...refrain from spouting ill informed, half baked opinions....on the internet? Now that is just crazy talk.

Re: Outbreak II

I’m real glad I didn’t try to go into work today. The news reports paint an ugly picture. News reports from Ms Lista and others have shown that infected people are behaving psychotically. Time to start boarding up and securing our home in case the infection gets to my neighborhood which is looking m...

Re: Outbreak II

Well none of the news reports have indicated anything to do with zombies yet, but enough to start getting scared. Together with the plane crash blamed on terrorist in Texas, the assassination attempt on the president, and some sort of supper flu crowding and causing panic in the hospitals, I’ve come...

Maybe we'll have a zombie for president. That would certainly make election year interesting

I don't wanna jump the gun here but.... Chest shots not dropping them, no or little blood from wounds, they're biting people. The guy at the Whitehouse didn't go down till he was shot in the head. Doesn't this sound a little like...oh...maybe.. ZOMBIES? But for real? This shit's crazy, I'm gonna de...

Re: Outbreak II

Oh this might not go well for me. I work right in Austin. And yeah – I have a hospital not too far away. Though I imagine any self respecting terrorist is going to start the infection farther down town, next to the capitol. There are lots of businesses, crowded bars, traffic, and mass transit. The b...

Re: Dumbest advice you have ever heard for preparedness and surv

Pee is full of crap that your body is trying to get rid of. You drink it and your body has to use more water to get rid of it again. So even if you were dehydrated, drinking your pee will just make things worse. Its a little like trying to rehydrate yourself by drinking seawater when you are lost at...

Re: How long before a zombie starves to death?

A zombies is going to expend a lot less in calories than a living human being. A warm blooded mammal spends a huge about of calories just to maintain its own temperature. That is why cold blooded animals don't have to eat nearly as much. Zombies don't really have a temperature anymore. Take that on ...

Re: Kids in zombie movies...

If you ever find yourself stuck in a horror movie, get on good terms with the little kids. Little kids usually survive zombies, knife wielding maniacs, and alien invaders, etc. I guess audience don't like to see little kids chewed up by cannibals. Teenagers are a whole different category. If you are...

Re: Apoc man

Kinda interesting. Gave me some ideas I had not thought about, but I would not take any of it as gospel. Some of the things he advocated are not things I would try. Why risk setting up a base in a hospital when the only thing they have is a generator, that will only work for 4 or 5 hours? Kinda funn...

Re: Manuals and Reading materials? Boyscout Manual?

I was an scout leader a few years ago so I have a semi-recent copy of the hand book. I found it pretty weak on survival information. Then one day my parents sent me a bunch of my old junk I had when I was a kid, including my Boy Scout manual from when I was 12. It is amazing in the difference. There...

Re: Help me pick out my first and probably only gun

Thanks for the help. First I have already taken a entry level class. I learned the basics but there is only so much you can learn in a single class and I know I can narrow down my search with some of the experience found here. I have already arranged to get my wife involved in this purchase and we h...

Help me pick out my first and probably only gun

It has taken me literally years, see http://zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2503" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, but I have finally convinced my wife that we need a gun with all our other preparations. So I need to figure out which one to try out and buy. I’m still prett...

Re: USDA Expects Higher Food Prices in 2009

Spam in my area recently went up in price. About 25% :( I recently ordered some more food storage stuff. When the UPS guy delivered it, he commented that a lot of people are ordering similar items. It seems that a lot of people who were thinking of getting their stuff together have realized that it ...

Turning wheat to bread.

I had thought that if I had the wheat stored I would have bread. Then in an attempt to figure out how much wheat I would need I took some stored wheat, ground it to flour, attempted to make bread out of it, and was rewarded by a nice brick of nearly inedible junk that was more like masonry than food...

Who do you test for paternity? If the girl won't talk who do you know to test? In addition, I heard that a lot of them are newcomers to the state so you can't guarantee that the daddy is anywhere nearby anymore. And how long is it going to take to DNA 400 kids with all the parents you may or may not...

Obviously bad things are happening in that compound but from a legal standpoint it gets pretty sticky unless the people inside start talking. In and of itself it is not illegal for a 14 year old girl to have a baby if they can't find the daddy, and these people don't seem to be talking. It is not fe...

As I understand it - Raul has stated that he wanted to improve relations to the US. Then Fidel wrote a letter to the newspaper saying that it was not a good idea. Fidel has cast a long shadow over his brother's leadership and I suspect that he will continue to do so until he dies. I doubt that he is...

The areas hardest hit are places are usually areas where homes are already quite expensive areas. There are some good deals ther...

I hyper-extended my elbow back when I was in high school. It is quite unnerving to feel your elbow bent at a right angle - in the wrong direction. It required surgery and a year of physical therapy. I still can't bend my fingers all the way to my shoulder with it.

I tried learning to use a wrist rocket. I didn't have much success with accuracy, though maybe I was doing something wrong. The bands do wear out and break if you use it much. And I did put a sling in my BOB too. I don't know how to use it, and I probably couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with i...

I've had similar situations occur. I have water stored on hand but when you have small children it can put your whole domestic life on hold. No laundry, or dishwasher, or showers. Nobody is going to die of dehydration but everything else at home gets rough. And that is just a day. I hate to imagine ...

It might depend on the recipient. For those who are not survival minded, they might look at the gift the same way that a 5 year old looks at gift wrapped tube socks. On the other end of the spectrum, those who are survival minded either already have such items or prefer to put together their own kit...
