Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Slide wracking is tough too, but my current CCW came with steel Vickers sights, so belt wracking is an option. Just need to not shoot my leg. Also, I'm under a regional pain blocker at the moment. Once that wears off at 0130 tomorrow, I'll take my other pain meds. I might find I should not be opera...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

Just FYI, I expect parts of the US will shift to a South African model of de-funded public police and a robust private security sector which guards the rich and culls the cream of the Public Police crop with better pay, better benefits, and better working conditions. Just my personal opinion, but I...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

Bottom line takeaway from all this? It's best if you don't live near any political figure or celebrity because one day you might find yourself sitting on the edge of "ground zero" of a mob's attention. If you do find yourself sitting there, don't make yourself a secondary target. Let "sit down, shu...

Well, just got surgery on my hand, so time to use the non-dominant hand for shooting for the next 2 weeks or more likely, 2 months. Thank goodness for pistols. I'd sure like an arm brace right now, but oh well. Good luck, it always feels weird. You may need to adjust your sights as well. I find tha...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

One can hope! That's the main reason I keep a .40 cal around, for those times that cheap police and alphabet agency surplus ammo hits the market. And agencies have been stocking up in record numbers in recent years, it would be nice for shooters if police get defunded and have to sell some of that ...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

Ha, sorry for the triple post! I must have hit quote instead of edit when I went back to adjust spelling. Should be sorted now. [edit] Also, I wanted to add that a reasonable person could debate whether a government official reading off the names and addresses of people who criticized her proposed ...

jam pic https://i.imgur.com/30ePw1D.jpg?1 I wonder what sanding the inside of the mag would do, just in that jam prone area. I wonder if it would open it a bit and reduce friction? But if the rounds work with, say, 7 round in and it is not until the last 1-2 rounds come up that it jams, it makes se...

Re: A present for my wife ...

I really wanted an H&R for a really small budget and could not find it for the price I wanted. The price difference between a Henry single shot and a Rossi in .357 Mag is too small for me to go for the Henry, and the weight of a Rossi is fantastic. I think the Henry's are $350, and a Rossi can be h...

So, my wife's pregnant, and has been blatantly suggesting a "push present" is in order ... She has strongly indicated an interest in her own lever action (after I bought and customized my Mares Leg). We own a small piece of hunting property in northern Ontario. My wife has an over under 12 gauge. I...

Of note, I have a raging sore throat. For some reason going from moist and humid College Station to dry and dusty Abilene seems to do that to me.
Actually, that was all good info for me too. I'm going to Abilene late July for a wedding on Aug 1.

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

I'm guessing it's really rooted in fear of throwing together an inneffective adhoc system too fast, or just childish fools looking for reasons to throw tantrums. Someone that truly understands an issue will understand those voting different than them, and be able to interact with those others in a ...

I'll be in Iowa for as long as it's tenable. Some parts of the PNW & the SE CONUS look good.

It's a fluid thing, atm.
The experience of friends suggests northern New Mexico might be worth looking at.

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Built my first *working* antenna!!! I used a BNC/Banana post connector, 14 ga stranded wire, and ring connectors. About as simple as this can get. I made a quarter wave antenna with a ground plane. If one has seen a "jungle antenna" one knows exactly what I made. I worked on 70cm, and got the SWR on...
