Re: Camp Fire

It's all over my news channels. State & local resources have their hands full fighting the fires in CA. Yes, fires . There are 14 active fires burning in CA as of today. USFA Daily Ops Brief for Nov 16, 2018 There is nothing for those affected. If this happened to me, I'd lose most of my preps. Yea...

Re: Eye Glasses & recomendations

After my 07-08 tour of the ME I swore I would not go back without the surgery. Problem is I really did not want the surgery, because I hate surgery. I did it anyway and never looked back. My vision was quite a bit worse than yours but is now 20/20 or better most days. Back to 07-08 I tried a wide v...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I know in theory there are supposed to be accuracy differences between pencil barrels and standard barrels. But if going for light weight, I would look into the pencil barrels. And cut it to 14.5 inches or so and pin a hider or comp on there. Just some thoughts. I'm not a fan of the metal handguards...

Re: Camp Fire

I am seeing posts suggesting that people leave a large visible message for firefighters to allow them to avoid checking your house such as: "House is empty, all have fled to safety." Followed by an evacuation route and planned safe destination. This would help out rescue crews. I would probably put...

I missed the links. Anyway, the concerns you listed are fairly valid. If I had a compromised immune system I would NOT work in a school. There are plenty of diseases which one cannot vaccinate against and such a person would be at risk for a whole host of those. Frankly, that is an issue for those w...

Another reason I believe all preppers should have a bugout option. I cannot tell you how many preppers I hear say "I am staying in my home. I am not leaving or bugging out for any reason. I"ll just die in my house."

I'm not sure unimmunized children pose a risk to adults if those adults are immunized. But yeah, I understand the risk among children goes up if a bunch are not immunized. What are they worried about immunizing against? I should read the article. Ok, this makes no sense. I didn't see any reference t...

Why do these violent groups exist? We get angry and fail to tamp down on those who do what we would like to do, but is illegal. Or unethical. Further, when people feel issues are moral imparatives and those moral imparatives need to be enforced through the government rather than through cultural cha...

We know what the machine gun did to war in the late 1800's and early 1900's. AI weapns will do the same, I suspect.

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Many indoor ranges I have been to that allow rifles only allow you to use what ammo you buy on site from what they allow. Wow. I must be in a good place then. Local ranges allow handloads and rifle rounds, but no AP, no tracer, no incendiary, sometimes no bi-metal jacketed bullets, and no 30-06 or ...

I don't see this going badly unless racial issues come into play. Gun owners are a pretty law abiding group. Who else would complain? Or riot? You are making some assumptions that may not be true. For example the firearms may not be held legally and that the person is in their right mind. Mental st...

Around the Omaha area, no indoor range allows birdshot. Some allow buckshot, some allow slugs, some allow both. Kinda random.
