Re: Home Defense Choices

Does the SKS have a bayonet? Because that might change my answer. It depends on if it is the Sword type or the Spike type.

Re: Home Defense Choices

I originally went with a shotgun and 00 Buck to keep over penetration down in an apartment. There is only so much one can "avoid over penetration" before one "is just tickling them." So 00 Buck seemed like a good compromise. I have recently bought into the idea that a pistol is sometimes better for ...

..., leading to potential record cold high temperatures only in the 10s and 20s. And it will likely be great hunting season! It will beat the pants off the year I was picking ticks off my dead deer while processing because of how warm that year was. I'm hoping the cold gets the deer moving more as ...

Re: Crescent arms 16 Gauge SXS

Sounds great!

And I would not be afraid of "buckshot." I would maybe look closer at 00 Buck and maybe shy away from it. But at some point, the Buck Shot will be a useful size. I'd look up reviews and get something which will suit your game (defense?) needs.

Nothing like "16 Gauge" and maybe some other weird markings? No indication of caliber/gauge at all?

Re: Lentils

They seemed kind of bland and generic for the first small batch I made If you are not using spices then yes, I imagine they were a bit bland. I need spices, meats, and/or vegetables to make the whole deal taste good. A lot of shelf stable foods are pretty bland by themselves. So if you are stocking...

Re: Lentils

Lentils? I boil them for 20-30 minutes, or until you think they are soft enough to eat. I mis them with other things, like noodles, or rice, and add meat if I have it. I also add whatever my favorite seasoning I have on hand. I will usually also add some veggies, but not always necessary.

Re: Busted electronics, what's in your repair kit?

For some thread drift.... What books/manuals would you suggest one have on hand? In particular, suppose someone (me) was deciding to learn electrical repair right now, what resources would you suggest? Or how would you suggest going about learning this skill? I expect "practice" would be part of the...

@ "Idea of neutrality" Mao felt "neutral people" were simply recruits the enemy had not got yet. Yes, sometimes they are hard to convince to join, but persistent recruiters can find a way. @Stercutus Who knows, the economy could downturn and police ranks would be easier to fill again with quality pe...

A couple points stand out, and I've said these before: Not every bug out includes the need for 8 knives and 400 rounds of ammo. Not every bug out location will be accessible under the circumstances. Whether that is the cabin in the hills or your friends couch or the hotel. Yes, you can become a refu...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

OK. Now I'm confused. I thought Mlok was a type of rail hole pattern for attaching various items. Can you do the same with those plastic hand guards or something? Yes. Yes you can. My "house gun".... https://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af242/boomslang45/House-AR.jpg You can do that with the AK too...

Ugh....Just noticed PSA has their chrome-lined premium Mid-gas Mock Dissy uppers back in-stock. I had one years ago, but sold it to a buddy who liked it even more than I did. I'm tempted to pick-up another, just for shits-&-giggles. I always thought they looked pretty sharp with a MOE handguard.......

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Took the BM59 out to my friend's place today and set out a couple of milk jugs filled with water in one of the fields ~100 yards away. Missed with the first shot, way low and right, realized I was mistaking the left side front sight ears as the sight post (to my everlasting shame), corrected my sig...

But if they're going to hold the guns as evidence, they have to have a warrant to take them, which means you need to have probable cause to believe that each of those specific guns is connected to a specific crime, signed off by a judge. And they can only hold them indefinitely if they can establis...

FYI: Learning and bragging time: I got to do some shooting today and decided to bench rest an AK with a Red Dot optic and get some groups. TLDR? Got some good groups & learned a lot about red dot brightness and stock length affecting accuracy. Gun/ammo are about 2MOA, and that is cool. B) All shooti...
