Re: Map organizer?
Where are people getting their maps from? I need to get with the times and get some paper maps. I tend to use my phone to navigate but noticed on a recent 1,200 miles trip that my phone desperately wanted me to take toll roads, even though it admitted it was going to add over an hour to the travel t...

Re: Firearms Fails: The Wall of Shame
My very nice 10-30x50 Barska binocs were home of course, lost somewhere in my garage as we try to pack and move. Ditto for my 30-90x90 Barska spotting scope. (though I suspect the scope might be buried on the table in front of my power tool shelves) Barska makes some 7x50 binoculars I'm considering...

Re: Money, money, money
I think Pelican or similar does have a lot to be said about it, especially something like the "Hardback" series. They're smaller than most Pelican products, but there's still rather a lot of room for documentation, cash, coinage, even precious metals. And they don't really look like a regular Pelic...

Looking back on this thread, it’s clear I misunderestimated the impact of a contested election. And especially the Orwellian deplatforming of anything and anyone not in agreement with the party line. I’ll stop there because that’s not the point of this entry. Anyone considering selling some of thei...

[Posted in the wrong thread but....still applies] Just something to consider: we frequently talk about physical fitness here being a prep. I want to give it another plug. It is a good prep no matter WHAT happens (war, natural disasters, alien abduction). Remember, ideally, you will get old. Everyth...

Visiting ammo stores is a lot like fishing now. Always looking for the big one. Or just anything, really.

Now might be a good time to meet some friends. There is stuff being passed between me and some friends. Maybe check on someone who might not be stocked as deep but can help out if needed. Or build a garage. If things go the way *I* think they will go, I think you will want to plan for 10 years out b...

Some of the other sites I visit, prepping related, are experiencing issues with the current Great Purge happening in the big tech world. I'm rather glad ZS is still up and active.

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November
On the more serious side, we'd already been planning a move to my wife's hometown in Idaho. That got stepped on by the Covid restrictions. It's still a plan though and I think I may have suddenly gotten a lot less fussy about the size of the property we'd buy. I'd been looking for max acreage and d...

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November
But this could be a different game now. This last year most of the fighting I have seen and perceived has been extremists from one "side" fighting the moderates of the same "side." The fighting over this election could potentially bring the "other side" into the fighting in a whole new way. I'm not...

It depends on what your life goal is. Advertising can get you friends/connections/community. But for me and my family, we are always pretty low key.

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November
I actually implemented the preparatory steps of my "on water" bugout plan yesterday. That's how close I live to the events of yesterday. All that remained was to cast off the lines and go. I remember thinking "I can't believe I'm actually doing this." I'm glad to hear you are ok and I wish we all h...

Vitamins and supplements for preppers
I was thinking as I was looking at the supplements I take that this might be a good topic for a thread. I am NOT an expert in this area, I'm actually looking for input from those more knowledgeable than myself. I have recently been educated that vitamins have a much better uptake if you eat the food...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)
Speaking of sights, I got XS Big Dots (Express style sights) for my rifle. It should be faster and easier to use under stress while not adding the weight of an optic mount and optic. Groups should open up a little but should still be very usable at any range I am capable of hitting things (on purpos...
