Re: Please Share Your Experinces of the Great Recession

FANTASTIC thread! My reply will be limited in it's usefulness, but it is my experience. I started the GR by finishing my BA. I paid cash, got some scholarships for good grades, and then got into graduate school. I went where I got a fellowship. Otherwise, I was planning on working for a while before...

I don't know if I'd put together that nice a setup of I was on the run. I don't know if he was really clever or if he just had a lot of time on his hands. I could probably put together a similar setup now that I have some newer skills, but he seems to have been really thoughtful in how he put all th...

Re: The Coming Civil War

I think another question here is "1) what does guerilla war/COIN/asymetric warfare look like and 2) how to you survive?" Quick answer: leave. Longer answer: ???? I think the longer answer is perhaps what FBN is looking for? Depending on the answers others give I may give my own $1.50 or simply bask ...

When will society grab pitchforks? Let's see.... Local police executed ... Federal police shot at, threatened, and firebombed... People beating the s**t out of other people for having "different ideas"... The Constitution under attack... Assassination and attempted assassination of political and non...

So where are we at on prepping for this? With the current political climate and the in general lack of respect of law and. Sane behavior by segments of population . I'm feeling rather anxious ( haha or maybe its the fact my phone is exploding with storm alerts as I type this ). What other than norm...

My near constant reply to the things I now read goes along the lines of "well, we sure live in interesting times." It'll be hard to die of boredom in 2019 or 2020. I guess that is one cause of death which seems to be decreasing, so there is some good news.

Ugh.... Looks like Dayton used an AR pistol with a blade brace. How long before those go the way of the bump stock? Wait .. Are we in Zombieland mode where the mass murderers just go by city names ? Dayton, El Paso, Gilroy. It's better than using their real names and giving the little bastards the ...

Re: Dayton, Ohio shooting

Interesting to hear about the DV side to all this. We all know it is illegal to sell guns to people with a record of domestic violence or mental health issues. The issues of homelessness in our country suggest we are really struggling with coping with mental illness. Something I have seen in the cri...

I've actually sold a lot of guns over the last few years. I ask for a CCW permit, but I don't usually look at the name as long as the face matches and the permit is legit and from my state of residence.

I've sold some to police officers too.

They are poorly resourced and have no infrastructure outside of the Middle East and I am never going back there again. It seems like Sweden and France have had some well resourced experiences with Al Quada. Sweden seems to have ongoing experiences if I'm reading things right. I think I'd be recordi...

Re: The Coming Civil War

That was a really important question about White Violence in 2000-2016, and there was a good answer about the historical political violence in the US. That history applies to Europe/Asia/Latin America/Africa too. But I'd like to draw some attention to how definitions obscure and distort our white na...

I was also going to vote for Googledocs for the planning stages, with the understanding that anything put there is basically the property of a big tech company. Anything truly important should only be pen/paper. Never electronic. Period. Both because of big tech concerns and lights out concerns. I s...

Sounds better than the Italian "lease a castle for 20 years, shell out to renovate it, & give it back to the government" deal that was offered a few years back. I wonder if they actually had any takers. Also, a local American town did something similar with local businesses/downtown area, except it ...

NT2C, I suspect we would agree more than disagree if we had a chance to discuss the world's problems over a drink. I think you're right that there are deep cultural divides in the US between different "tribes" that are more than just language. I still believe it's worth trying to understand those d...

Wonder what was going on there that caused him to fire only two times and switch focus right back to the first guy Great question. I'm wondering if the other criminal was still han...

Re: Wuuut! Tactical Crossbow

Interesting. A sustained ROF of six per minute compared to a well trained longbowman averaging 8-20 a minute. Although the time appears to mostly spent reloading. Agreed. Maybe it's another step towards something closer to a longbow though. In reload speed I mean. And supporting this guy that leads...

This is a really impressive video of a CCW in action defending a life against 2 criminals. And while I"m a fan of revolvers, this video makes an excellent argument for carrying as much gun with as much ammo as possible. I have seen a few such videos. The other excellent point here is that one MUST t...

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

2) Caliber is largely irrelevant. Bullet design is what we need to look at. Properly constructed bullets at the intended velocity are far more important than what caliber you shoot. Hmmm really? So a properly constructed .25 acp hollow point is better than a .45 cal FMJ ? Even if that .25 penetrate...

Last word in bullets knowledge. While they have a great discussion of the utility or limits of the utility of bullet energy/muzzle energy, I would argue that hunting ranges can be very different from SD distances, so projectiles advertised for hunting should probably be built with that variation in ...

Regarding New York: their political choices are something I cannot agree with. But I don't live there and so I say "as long as you don't try and force me to live by your rules, you keep being you." Have not been on that site in a long time. Wasn't really impressed by their optics prices but the body armor was priced nicely. $220 for a Spartan carrier with four plates is not bad. I believe however you may have violated the rules of the thread since the site requires membership. AT least we're ...
