Re: What Would Happen If Humans Suddenly Disappeared?

What if only HALF of humanity disappeared? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9Lcgbr78WA Note the trailer scenes of Statue of Liberty and Citifield. Why would people choose to live there? Are they refugees? The idea of support groups. The survivors all would have seen friends and family members turn to...

Re: You're In The Subway; Four To One Odds

There's a reason why Uber/Lyft is as popular as it is here. The location in question is fairly deep and relatively dry and warm, an attractive spot for homeless people since I can remember traveling the subways, at least the Seventies. Imagine the problems when there's no police officer around. In t...

You're In The Subway; Four To One Odds

https://nypost.com/2018/12/24/the-moment-an-nypd-cop-was-forced-to-battle-vagrants-on-a-subway-platform/ Now I have been in that very location both on patrol and off, but never alone. Then again, I wasn't Transit. Patrolling a Manhattan subway station turned into a battle royale for a lone NYPD cop ...

Re: 20 Volt Multi-Tool Sets: Opinions and Experiences

During the week that issue of the HF/Bauer stopping after "extended" use finally came up. We've been doing wood laminate flooring for our upstairs hallway and we used the Bauer jigsaw to fit panels to existing molding and door frames. During an especially long detail cut, the saw cut off; stopped 3/...

Re: 20 Volt Multi-Tool Sets: Opinions and Experiences

So far haves used both the hammer drill/driver and jigsaw in a bedroom renovation involving laminated wood floor tiles. Maybe 2-4 running hours inter-spaced with plenty of time for cool-downs. So far no tool failures.

First item of the new kit: https://images.milled.com/2017-08-24/Xa_EhSf4yJ1Knw7n/Sqt4oz09KMEV.jpg The price of a hammer drill module from B+D or Sears or a used one off Ebay would be more than this and not include a battery and charger. BTW, battery NOT compatible with the Bolt-On/Matrix Here's the ...

20 Volt Multi-Tool Sets: Opinions and Experiences

Over the years while in the bag (uniformed service)there was a frequent need to deal with mundane tasks that involved the careful application of power tools. Securing doors and windows in the aftermath of burglaries, for example, or setting up command posts at various field locations. Now, in the pa...

Re: Exterior Door Security

Pretty close. I should have mentioned there was a ladder the owner said wasn't his in the back near where the broken safe was. Casual observer could see through the bay windows a glass front liquor cabinet and display cases for various ornaments as well as the wall mount for a 65 inch TV. You should...

Re: What blades (and other weapons) are legal in NY and NYC? Leatherman?

Living in NYC since 1988. Honestly, things have gotten a bit better since 2013. But not by a huge amount. Want to carry a knife? Get a medium sized Swiss Army knife without a locking main blade. Carry it concealed. Or, carry a multi-tool in which the blades cannot be accessed from the outside of th...

Re: Exterior Door Security

You should read up on common burglaries. A lot of homes are broken into from the front/side door, or a forced ground floor window. In the case of apartments, the issue of limits on how much you can do to the door/windows is a big reason for break-ins. 2 things you may want to do; if permitted to do ...
