Re: Bleuet Pocket Stove

It's on the shopping list for the KISS principle.

I'm going to see if I can find some alternate brands around here to compare it with, check out the manuf. quality etc.

I vote yes to bicycles too.

Mine would be an option for sure in a BO situation.

Bleuet Pocket Stove

http://www.rei.com/product/866141/bleue ... -overstock" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyone used of these? Tiny, would mean hot water for a hot re-hydrated meal or can of soup/chilli/beans and it would fit in a cargo pocket.

Re: South Louisiana Winter Bug In

I noticed the lack of ice in stores here around BR too, and the run on ice chests! I can understand the ice chest to put the food it to put outside if you lose power...but the ice thing did strike me as odd. No attic to worry about, but my house is about a foot and a half off the ground. All piping ...

Re: South Louisiana Winter Bug In

Good points. My gas tank is full, and the 3 gas cans (5 gal each) are also full of fresh gas. I forgot to mention that last night. That will refill my 16 gallon tank in the truck if I have to run North....yes North....North Louisiana is not getting the storm. LOL Thanks to routine Hurricane preps, I...

South Louisiana Winter Bug In

Leon, a named winter storm, is hitting the Southeast (Baton Rouge/New Orleans etc) Louisiana area over the next 48 hours. We have 2-3 inches of snow forecast for the area, plus ice/sleet storm. So, great time to practice winter preps! I have no fireplace, but there is a good chance of losing power. ...

Re: PREP FAILURE: THE WALL OF SHAME

I ended up with the warm water trick....but what if I had lost power and the water in my water heater had gone cold? cold water will also melt ice, and may be less of a thermal shock to what ever you are de-iceing. doesn't matter for everything, but dumping hot water on a frozen windshield isn't re...

Re: Sig P250

Sig 226/228/229 or SP2022. The 250's trigger.....is.....BLEH.

I bought one thinking the modular design was great etc, sold it withing in a month and got another SP2022 instead. The 2022 is light, and smooth, and very very Sig.

Re: Practice winter overnighter

The pulks give me an idea for a device my dogs can pull. I had been thinking of a cart, but that would be harder to load in the truck etc. Time to go experiment with Schedule 40 PVC and some lawn mower wheels. (I'm in the deep south.....snow and ice are less of an issue that simply getting over bump...

Re: PREP FAILURE: THE WALL OF SHAME

I'm down here in South Louisiana.....the land that Old Man Winter usually forgets about. Except this year. I was so proud of myself last Thursday. I checked every flashlight, my smoke detectors, had the MRE stuff ready (the add water and you have hot food sort), everything was charged and good to go...

Re: Visually Disabled Shooters

This makes me think of something I saw occur yesterday in an LGS. A customer was preparing to purchase a handgun, and this customer was in a wheelchair. That is relevant because this customer did not have a drivers license. But they did have a valid State ID card. The LGS refused to even attempt to ...

Hi from the bayous

I've been lurking and reading off and on for months, but decided to finially click the 'register' button. I'm in Louisiana, right outside of Baton Rouge....living down a gravel road in the middle of an old sugar cane field with my dog and cat. I've learned a lot from here already, and I hope maybe I...
