Re: The Secret History of Eugene Stoner and the M16 Rifle

Nice piece of fiction, would make a great movie. Bubba Ho Tel meets Iron Sky coming to a drive inn or direct to DVD next summer.

Re: Something un-AR, New mini-14 vs Kel-Tec SU-16?

These are 2 different rifles for 2 different needs. The kel-Tec is a folding rifle great for survival, great trunk gun that uses AR mags. The mini is a ranch rifle stealthy in its very untacticool look. I like them both, the Kel-Tec may not be pretty but it is rugged enough to get you home or to you...

Re: Get on a boat?

A boat can be a good way to get some place safer, just make sure the boat is safer than where you are and that you have some place safe to go. I think aimlessly wondering around on the open sea is usually a bad idea.

Re: Worst Gun John Moses Browning ever created.

The 1893 was a fine design, it was recalled only because it had a demescas barrel and smokeless powders were becoming more popular. There is little difference in the design of the 93 and the 97. I have a Chinese 93/97 witch is basically a 93 built with modern steel and love it. Sent from my Nexus 4 ...

Why reinvent the wheel, use your phone to view documents. If you have an iPhone use deionized to transfer the files.

I also say keep the ruger I think the math makes more since. I also think that the black rifle craze is comming to an end so the sks will go down and ruger combos are collectible and will go up. I should disclose that I am a cowboy action shooter and have a soft spot for single action revolvers Sent...

Re: Its time to retire my old Winchester 1300 Defender...

I always prefer to fix old guns rather than get new ones of the same type, as long as it is cost effective to do so. If you want a newer technology get a new gun but for an old pump gun few new guns will match the build quality of your 1300.

Why? Ammo is still high right now in 6 months it will be cheaper.

SKLZ Powerstick

I picked up a thin but heavy baseball bat today at a thrift store. It balances very nicely and would make a perfect impact weapon . I usually keep a ball bat by the door and one in my trunk (hay not every problem requires a bullet) this one replaced my trunk bat. Apparently this bat is some sort of ...

Re: Thinking about getting a .45

I think Bersa makes a 45 in that price range. The larger Bersa's are basically Walther P88 inspired handguns of decent quality. If your more interested in a 1911 and willing to divert from 45ACP the Star in 9mm largo seems to ne available at bargan basement pricing right now (I have seen them for $2...

Re: Choosing Practical Firearms for SHTF

I am a proud gun enthusiast, I have several guns and love them all but that is my hobby. The truth is that almost any gun will do in a shtf situation, you need enough gun to make yourself a less attractive target to others who are not as prepaired as you and want what you have. If you were only arme...

Re: Anyone choose a NON semi auto rifles for shtf?

Ok after all the talk a few pages back in this thread about the rossi/puma 92 replicas I was missing my .357 92 trapper something awful, today I found another one at a good price on armslist. It is a 20 in barrel model not a 16 in trapper like I use to have but these are damned handy little rifles. ...

Re: Mossberg MVP 762

MY acog is an old one (pre fiber optics, 3 digit serial # the tritium is still good) with a weaver style mount. The MVP predator I saw at Gander Mountain had a weaver rail one it. I should probably take my scope to the store and check it for proper hight, on my AR I used a cheap quick release riser,...

Re: Mossberg MVP 762

The MVP reminds me of the CZ 527 but uses more standardized mags. I think a 7.62 X 39 that uses AK mags would make a lot of since. The MVP in 5.56 will probably be my next rifle. I have an ACOG that I took off of my AR to make room for an Eotech that should work nicely on this little bolt gun. Sent ...

Re: .500 S&W rifle

I would love something like the handi rifle in 454, i already have dies and brass for 45lc left over from my cowboy action shooting days. They do make the handi in 410/45lc that may be what i go for. The guy who has the 500 s&w thinks its worth $400, and that seems a bit high to me. Sent from my SGH...

Re: Hand Crossbow pistol good or not?

I bought a hand crossbow for my niece when she was young and she had a lot of fun with it but it was not a serious weapon. Better ones may be availble now but a good pump pelit pistol was better than that one,

Re: .500 S&W rifle

I don't see much 500 S&W ammo at all I think I would be stuck with the 50 rounds it comes with for relaoding brass. I understand about the 308 but I am not a long range marksman, 100 yards is about it for me, (I'm sure I could work on that if I tried).

.500 S&W rifle

I have been thinking about a big bore upper (450 bushmaster,.458 SOCOM) for my AR for quite some time, but with money as tight as it is I just can't afford one right now. An earlier thread about takedown rifles got me to thinking about how handy it would be to have an H&R handi rifle for the trunk, ...

I like the NEF break action rifles for a trunk gun, you can even get NEF rifle shotgun combos.
