Re: Inexpensive ruck options

How much do you want to spend? Does military surplus bother you? I'd say ALICE medium or ILBE. Both are around 50 bucks shipped. Maybe a little cheaper on the alice. Moab I will look into both. I humped an Alice for 8 years and know it's strengths and weaknesses. School me on the ILBE? Sent from my...

Re: Inexpensive ruck options

Decide what gear you need first, then gear that you really, seriously think would be a good idea to have, then get a pack around that. A lot of people get a pack first, & it doesn't always work well that way. I have a 50l hiking pack already, looking for something smaller, super durable for use dur...

Re: Inexpensive ruck options

USMC ILBE is about the best bang for the buck right now. $50 or less will get you a complete pack if you shop around. a few mods are required to make it work well but they are cheap and easy. what are you using currently? how tall are you? what kind of capacity are you looking for? I currently use ...

Inexpensive ruck options

I have a little one on the way and can not justify a gr1,Kifaru, or eberlstock. I try and get at least one ruck march in a week. What are some of the better low cost options out there?

Talk me out of a Bhp

FEG BHP's have been appearing semi frequently under 300. From what I understand these are built on FN tooling and to FN spec. So... why shouldn't I purchase 1-2. These do weigh more than a Glock, but a good belt partially mitigates that. Mags are about $25 a piece so while not Glock cheap they beat ...

Re: .22 TCM from Armscor anyone?

I can find the ammo pretty easily, and it can be reloaded. It is a lot easier to find than 6.8 the first several years it came out. If I find the right deal I will gladly take one home.

Re: Personal firearms inventory database.

I work in insurance. Unless you have 10k + collection we usually won't need serial numbers and such, but they could aid the police in recovery. If you do have over 10k then the firearms will need to be"scheduled"and serial numbers and other details recorded. Most of us in my district are firearms en...

Re: Personal firearms inventory database.

just a quick note, for most insurance policies you need to schedule (list all of them) your firearms if you have more than 10k worth of guns. if you have less than 10 but more than 5k you generally need a special endorsement to cover all of them. As we all know 5k is pretty easy to get to. Sent from...

Chimp, go with the PSA. Great kit, and CTD can hug a nut.

I can see I need to sell more insurance. As usual another great knife. I am looking forward to the end of the year when in theory I can have you start one for me.

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

So 100ish cheaper than a t1. Any other advantages? I see same battery life and equivalent brightness settings. Slightly bigger lens, but in my limited experience for anything less than 100m that won't matter.

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

Well, you could always build one like the Winchester 1895 that loads from the top into an internal box magazine. The 7.62x54R Russian musket version could even load from stripper clips. (Hey, Winchester marketing people: re-build it, and I will buy!) I suppose it's probably possible to build a leve...

My fitness path

So I know there are many like it but this one is mine 8-) . I recently started a fitness plan using a Primal diet and KB and bodyweight workouts. I turn 39 in a few weeks and have been on blood pressure meds for 4 years. Most of my family is also diabetic, and I of course am overweight. In other wor...

Re: Modern Hunting Rifle

Looks like an American Spirit or similar side charging upper with an UBR. Am I missing something that makes this any different than a standard AR10 other than the side charger? Your RCMP categorization is all over the map as to what is restricted vs non restricted. That being said I am glad you guys...

Re: Deer / varmint rifle

I will be posting pics soon. I really like this rifle. Short, light, low recoil. In other words damn near ideal. I mounted a CHEAP scope on it til after the first of the year mainly because I just switched jobs. Eventually I will spend some money on glass but for now cheap will work this deer season.

Re: Deer / varmint rifle

I am looking at this as a handy walkabout rifle with coyote - large Kansas whitetail being on the receiving end. I am biased towards wood stocks and as a kid wore out a 1985 Remington catalog. I understand the Rem hate, and would agree if I was buying new. I am pretty well set on caliber but not nec...

Deer / varmint rifle

Thoughts on a Remington model Seven 18.5"bbl model in 7mm-08? I plan on checking the crown and bore next time I am in the shop, but assuming both are good do you think 435 with rings is a good deal? This is an 80's vintage model that looks great roughly 85%+ possibly 90+.

hey Chimp, MFT Tekko lower handguard for your light and AFG mounting and ultimak for your optic. half the cost of the Troy and lighter. My set up has been twice painted, carried through the brush, and handled by at least 8-9 different folks at the range. The Tekko lower is nearly bomb proof for what...

Another 100 rounds down range, multiple Sam's soda cans have been put down hard. No further malfunctions. If anyone is on the fence about the Sig pro, just go buy one already.

Re: SP2022 or used Gen3 G23?

Will do Doc. I did not use standard targets today. I was using a soda can, oil bottle and an empty shotshell box. Slick guns showed one company that had them for 359 shipped this week Kentucky Gun Co. http://www.kygunco.com/sig-sauer-sp2022-40-bss-sp2022-101-40sw-39-75852 Stupid good price. I do not...
