Re: Mental health disorders rising in every country

Could a part of this be the rising amounts of drugs in the water supply? Lots of female hormones from birth control pills, mixing with the zanax and ritilin, and all the other prescription drugs and happy pills, and the freelance happy pills taken by so many. All that get flushed down the toilet, se...

Re: Wildlife concerns in your AO.

Main worries here in McKinney, Texas area are the wild hogs and the tiger/lion/elephant/giraffe rescue farm. I just know in a pandemic/SHTF people will be releasing the critters. I had a big bobcat in my backyard, sat there watching me through the patio glass doors, then ambled over and snagged a bi...

Also you would have to insure any cleansers do not kill your bio-sand filter. Several types of hand and dish washing soaps are antibacterial and would kill off your beneficial microbes.

The one in the article was on 13 foot pilings with parking underneath. With the 8 feet or so of land height, it would need a surge over 21 feet to start leaking into the domes.

Too bad more people in Hurricane areas don't use Monolithic Domes. No, I do not work for them, or have any connection to them, but this article shows some of the reasons I want to get one.http://www.monolithic.org/news-feed/mon ... icane-irma

Re: Hurricanes 2017

http://www.windy.com I used this site to check on the path Irma was supposed to take and saw there wasn't any steering winds to turn it north. I told my wife it was going to continue west at least another day before turning and now there looks to be a current that will head it north after is passes...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

My question has always been, since it appears that every country in the world is in debt to a greater or lesser amount, who do they owe the money to? Each other? Then you could offset debts owed to a country that owed you. To Banks? How do they force you to pay? I realize Bad Things Happen(tm) if yo...

Re: Underwater shelter

If you have a pond on your BOL, which is a good idea anyway, you could have what appears to be a floating dock with an entrance to an underwater emergency bunker. I wouldn't want to live permanently under water without one of those small Toshiba nuke plants, but it could work out as an emergency hide.

Re: Bugging Out to Wal-Mart, Costco, Sams Club: No!

I think "we'll just go be King of the Wal-mart when TSHTF" is one of the phases of prepping. Start "prepping" by buying guns and ammo, plan on being king....realize you are prepping to be a raider and stealing other people's stuff since you can't eat bullets (not more than once anyway)....start buyi...

Re: Homesteading Alaska

As I recall, the trees stop a little north of Fairbanks. I worked in Barrow, AK for 4 years. I used to laugh at the ads I saw from the anti-ANWR drilling crowd, showing trees and waterfalls and deer and elk roaming around, when the reality is there isn't a tree in 300 miles, just thousands of square...

Re: Lets Talk Air Rifles!

Seems like a lot of trouble to go to for the only photos I would ever post. I am not on any of the social media sites and with my background the last thing I am interested in doing is telling the world where I am and what I am doing every moment of every day. The link will take you to his website an...

After several years of trying I finally got my Quackenbush .308 (yes .308) air rifle. Of course now I am unemployed so I cannot afford to get what I need to shoot the damn thing. I will post some photos over the weekend if anyone wants to see it. He makes everything by hand http://www.quackenbushair...

Re: Why not a live aboard blimp?

Crewed a PTDS aerostat (what you call a tethered LTA with no engines) 4 years in Baghdad. Pressure inside is about 3 PSI (yes three), I have brought one down after a month in the air with 20 bullet holes in it. Main problem is heat raising the pressure too high which causes it to burp out helium. 10...

Re: My Bug-Out Trailer and Vehicle

I think you might be able to sell some of your photos to the car company, they look at LEAST as good as the ones used in their ads. Make sure you copyright some of the better ones or they might end up in an add without you making anything off them.

Re: Aquaponics basics?

A lot of smaller scale aquaponics systems use the flood and drain method. The water is pumped into the grow bed from the fish tank, which fills the grow bed until the water reaches the top of a fixed siphon, which causes the grow bed to drain rapidly. This cycle repeats about every 15 minutes, the p...

For freeze-dried food, I use Safecastle http://www.safecastle.com/ for large amounts (cases of #10 cans). For single #10 cans I sometimes use http://www.nitro-pak.com/ . Each company has a couple of sales per year, and both companies do the maximum Oregon Freeze Dried (Makers of Mountain House brand...

While working in Barrow, Alaska, I used CLP on my PTR. I never had problems down to -20F, lower than that it was usually to dark to shoot anyway. Strange place Barrow, every year they do a news story about how the sun has set and won't be back for a few months. Can't get the photo of the 2 Polar Bea...

Re: Blueberry Hill - Curing the Winter Blahs

You may want to try here for your fish http://tilapiasource.com/ . From my research, you can harvest lettuce in 6 weeks once you have the water worked out. The main advantage with Aquaponics versus Aquaculture is you don't have to have a wastewater discharge permit. Some full spectrum fluorescent li...
