Re: "Zombie" Knives now banned in the UK

It's a shame they've banned them because, whilst it is never a good thing to have a knife pulled on you, if it does unfortunately occur but happens to be one of those zombie killer knives you know that A - the knife is a POS and B - the guy handling it has absolutely no idea what he is doing

Re: Flooding in Scotland, Ireland and N. England

Re: Boat vs Plane - What would you choose?

I don't know how to fly an aircraft and if it's the end of the world I will neither have time to learn nor anyone willing to teach me. Also, if I could fly an aircraft and it failed in operation, I can't fly. I can use a sailboat or canoe and I could figure out a motorboat readily enough and if any ...

Re: USGI multicam poncho vs UKGI?

Saw this. It has the Helikon logo on it. Anybody know the differences between US and UK ponchos? Helikon are Polish, and this is likely just patterned after the US one as IIRC there has'nt been a British military poncho since 58 pattern gear. We don't use ponchos in the UK because we have this thin...

Congrats, knew you'd get there. A blade is a blade and an attacker shot and an attacker arrested are both stopped, so we agree. How nice.

Re: Knife to a gunfight?one against three(armed soldiers)?WT

I am willing to bet many Euro's this was a training or ROE conflict/ misunderstanding issue. Had this been three US police officers We know what the outcome would have been if it had been US police officers , because it's already happened - October 2014 in New York, 3 officers attacked 2 injured, o...

Re: Any insight into waterproof clothing?

I stay away from any proprietary waterproof fabrics (mountain hardwear's Conduit, Marmot's Precip, Columbia's whatever-it-is). look for Goretex or eVent, the newer the better. Just typing "goretex" into eBay and spending a few hours hunting around will give you a pretty good selection. [ThePrincess...

Re: Retired Army General calls for new rifle

With a few modifications, the weapon that killed my soldiers almost 50 years ago is killing our soldiers today in Afghanistan Every person and object in the unit was coated with reddish-brown clay blown upward by rotor wash from Chinook helicopters delivering ammunition. By evening, we were sleepin...
