Re: Conditioning hike with 30 LB Kifaru Pointman pack.

Thanks for posting this, and getting the message out to go do this.
Conditioning to be able to ruck one's BOB, it's the missing essential part of the BOB concept.

Re: Things that slow you down.

I couldn't agree more. We build bob's but being able to hump ones ruck is just as important as what's in the bob. Plus it's cheaper than gym membership.

Re: Thrift Shop finds

Here in my metro area there are frequent 50% off sales at the thrift stores, yesterday I found a 80x60 us wool blanket marked for 4.99 and a KleenKanteen 40 oz single wall small mouth SS bottle marked for .69 cents. picked these both up for half price. sweet!

Re: What was your first Handgun?

Sig229, pretty nice and straight shooting piece once you get past that first long trigger pull, still have it but shoot mostly 40's in it as 357sig is just just too expensive to shoot.

Best caliber for rim-fire rifle or pellet gun for survival

I've seen pellet casting equipment, but why not include purchasing a tin of .22 cal pellets every now and then in your prepping budget until you have a good supply of them. A lot of those tins will fit in a surplus ammo box.
