Re: Price of Ammo

I'm offically done with buying guns and ammo until the panic is over.
Agreed. I tried to use this thread to establish when that was as I do not have a very good baseline.

Re: Survival Tank

A tank with no fuel and no ammo is a 50 ton portable radio.
Without fuel I don't think it is portable....

Still if it had a nice area inside, it would be a decent place to hole up for the night. No fire, but security, dry, safety.

Re: Social vs Antisocial.

I think the social paradigm would change pretty quickly in your scenario. I think people would be more concerned with security and the future than social vs antisocial. Would you rather be in the group with the antisocial person who is prepared and knows how to handle him/herself but says some awkwa...

Re: AR Jam

Honestly I do not know how I like it. Haven't taken it to the range yet. I love the way it looks. And I am seeing that it is a bit front heavy, but other than that, no complaints about Ruger's design. The only other thing I don't exactly like is the magazine release is in a location that makes it ea...

Re: AR Jam

I think OP had the same sort of thought process. He realized something was wrong and instead of forcing the issue, he called it day, came home and started asking us questions.

I give him credit for that.
More or less. Except I was not using live ammo.

Re: AR Jam

I wonder, do you feel the same way about a car? Just drop an unexperienced driver in and let them figure it out until they can afford to have someone show them how? Actually, this analogy would be a little closer to pulling a trailer. I know how to drive a car (pistol). I have taken courses, gone t...

Re: AR Jam

That is EXACTLY what I am looking for. Ordered... The manual tells me what all of the parts are named.. And apparently not to shoot someone in a backwards hat while I am wearing a backwards hat. I think I am in the clear on that one, I don't wear hats... I understand that the manual won't tell me ev...

Survival Tank

I was watching a piece from the wall street journal on tanks. Apparently tank dealers estimate that there are 1000 or so private tank owners in the US. That has got to be the ultimate bug out vehicle... You could sleep real well at night knowing that NOTHING can get to you. Well unless you meet one ...

Re: AR Jam

I got it fixed. Apparently they didn't get all of the plastic pieces out. Stop fucking around with it till you read up on the platform and know what you are doing. I did read up on the platform. Nowhere did I find any suggestion of clearing a jam by stomping on it or slamming it on the ground. That ...

AR Jam

So I just got my first AR. It is a ruger sr 556. No experience with Semi Auto Rifles as of yet. I have basically been getting acquainted with the gun at the moment and I was using some snap caps to get familiar. So... it jammed. It will let me move the charging handle a little bit, but you can feel ...

Re: Wreckless Driver

Never had snow tires myself. I just keep all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive cars. I have driven in a car with snow tires though. It was a front wheel drive jetta and it stuck like glue. Although I have heard that changing the tires out twice a year can be a bit expensive. In addition, I have also hear...

Re: Cheap security alarm

Set up one of the outside motion censer lights inside aimed at the door, replace the light bulb with a plug and plug in a radio turned up to full That is a nice idea, but there is wildlife around my house. The last thing I want is to have a squirrel setting of the system and me grabbing my gun and ...

Re: Wreckless Driver

I was on a straight away and I had more than enough time to pass before the curve. The truck coming at me closed that gap quickly. Also, the propane truck wasn't on my right at the time, it was on my right and behind me. If I would have slammed on the breaks it would have been a problem. I wasn't tr...

Re: Cheap security alarm

I already have motion activated lights on my house. The problem is they go off all the time when people drive down the road (I have to readjust the sensor) and the wildlife like deer, elk and coyotes set them off as well, which makes them not so good for security. I will look at some of the non moni...

Wreckless Driver

This happened to me a few weeks ago. I don't really think there is a correct answer because it happened so fast. I am driving to work, there are 2 lanes on my side of the road, one on the other. It is cold and there is a slight amount of frost on the road. It is in the mountains so to my right is a ...

Cheap security alarm

I do not want to spend the monthly fees for an expensive security alarm for my home. What I would like to do is have a system that will give me some sort of warning if someone comes through one of my doors in the middle of the night. I would just like to have the extra few seconds to load my gun, ge...

Re: This Person Won't Stop Texting Me

It doesn't sound like this is the case, but If he keeps texting you with the exact same message, it could be stuck in his outbox. I once sent the same message to someone about 100 times because it was stuck in my outbox.

Re: Home invasion.... Where did this guy go wrong?

2. He kept it unloaded? Only him and his girlfriend lived in the home. Maybe he could have told her "Hey its loaded" and left it that way. I don't know if I would say that was a mistake, I don't keep my gun loaded in the home. In fact I have never chambered a live round in my home (I have trained a...

Re: Bug In Scenario

If there was someone in charge, great, it means some sort of law and order. I am fine with that so long as law and order does not involve taking my stuff. If it does, I have a way to keep my supplies relatively well hidden. I would probably find a place in whatever society emerges due to my engineer...
