Re: Stay in city or attempt the wilderness?

... Fiat 500 is just an apocalyptically bad apocalypse vehicle... Nice! :D No I know, but my credit is as apocalyptic, so until it's paid off, it's what I got. (And it's a PERFECT Portland, OR car as parking around here is a daily apocalyptically abysmal affair, and streets so narrow anything wider...

Re: Stay in city or attempt the wilderness?

Did a quick scan and couldn't find this exactly topic elsewhere... Question: Should I stay in my home in the middle of the metropolis, or try to make it in the wilderness? Search for "Bug in or Bug out" etc. The discussion on ZS is almost as great as Pie vs Cake, or AK vs AR. Do you have family liv...

Re: Condor Pistol Magazine Pouch

I have several Tactical Tailor Magna pouches. They have Velcro straps for extra retention, but I usually run them with the straps folded out of the way, as the magnets are usually enough to keep most metal pistol mags secure... https://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af242/boomslang45/TT-Magna_001.jpg...

Is that one of those prefab sheds, who new they were made from non fire resistant plastic? Why do they need so much bracing and internal support on an arch, maybe trade the support costs for a less flammable and more solid roofing material. Was there a second building that burned? https://i.imgur.co...

6 Underground Saw this post yesterday after I had already read the synopsis and skipped over the movie. Thought I could make it to at least 25 minutes as a challenge, so I watched it last night. LOL The whole thing, it was entertaining. There were certain things they did with editing that I hated th...

How’s that expression go? “If a rifle is an option, a rifle is usually the answer.” What ideas from the hive mind? I like, "I just don't want to get killed for lack of shootin' back." https://youtu.be/PE9RDQw9ZL0?t=41 Please not Boaty Mac Boatface. Didn't you already build one named Jimmy...

Re: Repair Wins

Was the hot-side port on the old cartridge clogged with scale or something? I had a similar issue once, except that the cold-side port was plugged and the shower would only go full hot! EDIT: I like the fishing rod idea...I'll have to keep that in mind for the future. :) No, none of the port...

Re: Repair Wins

Fixed two different issues with one parts replacement. Last week the masterbath shower faucet started dripping. Needed a new valve cartridge to fix the leak. So I eyeballed the existing one and went to HomeDepot. I bought two models, right size but slightly differing config on the gaskets. Moen 1200...

With the vertical foregrip the MP5 could be declared a SBR. Civilian version? no stock with less than 16" barrel. It would be NFA regulated, but its a pistol with a VFG. That's an AOW. Over 16" bbl, w/ or w/out stock, Not regulated. Permanent stock, less than 16" bbl. but 26" OAL, SBR stamp. But it...

Rereading this thread. It's quite interesting. Jeepercreeper (Or maybe it was Rickoshea that posted them?)- I was looking at those pics. And wondering. Are PSA's AR10's DPMS style? I assume DPMS AR10's are DPMS style. On the cheap end which of those two would be a better rifle do you think? Assumin...

Re: Where to get a flashlight repaired?

Here's a cheap 1" diameter tailcap, $5 with coupon on amazon right now. It says it fits Surefire so should fit 1" lights. Don't know what the shipping or lead time would be. I have no experience with this tailcap. It's probably NOT a momentary on button. https://www.amazon.com/Flashlight-Switch-Butt...

Re: Where to get a flashlight repaired?

I found my second Fenix E21 that works. I swapped tail caps and the broken one worked. So I took the bad tail cap apart. And found this. I can't seem to get it back together. After a light cleaning to get the corrosion out. I assume I need a new tail cap button (center in the pic)? Or a whole new t...

Asking nicely...could the name of the thread be changed to perhaps... Electric "Avenue?" I've seen a notice, and more recently heard a report on NPR that the other word is being tied more and more closely to extremists. I am not, so... the center must hold. Wouldn't want people happening upon this ...

Re: 22LR in a rifle, ok for defense?

What I'm hearing is "I need a .22 to be my weekend bullet hose." For that purpose, I would consider a 10/22 or some other dedicated .22 AR style rifle. The reason being you really want something you can shoot a lot, shoot fast, and won't quit on you in the middle of a mag. The Ruger 10/22 has a goo...
