Re: Baofeng UV 5R Trick to cover exposed metal on extend cable.

If you have an extend cable like this one it has shiny metal exposed on the antenna and radio connection points like this. Shiny metal is not good. I've seen guys use electrical tape to hide and protect these connections. I didn't like that idea though. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Found out I can't get my head down enough to see through the red dot with my full face respirator on. I'd like to patch this issue with a rail or mlok mounted laser. Is anyone aware of a really small laser-only package other than the LaserMax Uni-Max? Aren't there lots of pistol lasers? Do you thin...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I'm contemplating selling a couple of my empty ammo cans to fund other firearms related purchases. I've got a plastic 25mm ammo can I'm not using right now (used to just hold a couple Mosin ammo pouches) and I'm figuring that one might be an easy sell since it can be multi-purpose. I also figure I'...

Re: Post COVID, Poor Maintenance and Cumulative Disrepair

I loved this series called, "Life After People", so much so I got the boxed DVD set for Christmas a few years ago. They go in-depth into all types of systems, environmental, mechanical, nuclear, solar, structural, etc etc, and how long until they fail, or revert back to nature if one day all people ...

Re: Lets Talk: Air Rifles!

It's a little tougher than a standard pump pellet rifle. Filling it up from zero takes about 80 pumps. It will take about four or five pumps after each shot if you want to get it back up to the 3500 PSI mark. There is an integrated pressure gauge on the side that allows you to see what you pumped u...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

A little off topic; can anyone recommend a stocking Tasmanian Tiger dealer in the states? Looking at a new bug out bag, no one seems to have it in Canada and none of the dealers I've contacted have gotten back to me. I've heard one good review on ordering direct, that may be the way I go, but consi...

Re: Lets Talk: Air Rifles!

I recently picked up the Seneca Aspen in 22 caliber. I'd liked it for several reasons. 1) Price- Around $300 it's not bad at all for a PCP air rifle 2) Self-contained- this PCP actually pumps up like your standard over-the-counter Crosman type air rifle, eliminating the need for bulky pumps or air ...

Re: Baofeng UV 5R

Finally got an external mic for my HT on which the earphone jack is live and works. By Mirkit . I had previously bought a Baofeng and then a Pofung PTT speaker mic, each had the port for the jack but they weren't live or didn't work. Third try is the charm. I have to say that the former two didn't s...

Custom Moral Patches just came in. They're embroidered velcro so I can take them off if I want to go grey.

Amazon @ ~$4 each. Looks like they came from Germany, but originated in Thailand. Probably embroidered/assembled in DE.

An underground plan should include a minimum of 5 locations. 4 in separate 90 degree sections of longitude and one on the south pole, as near misses would destroy too much underground. Where did you come across this info? Thru previous knowledge of the details of the Yucatan peninsula strike which ...

reminded me of 2012 'cause of govt secret bunkers for the select elite, and getting your family on/into that arc. Deep Impact too I guess for the same story arc for certain characters. Wonder why Greenland. An underground plan should include a minimum of 5 locations. 4 in separate 90 degree sections...

Re: Best Rite in the Rain pen?

The only purposefully purchased pen I currently carry is a SureFire. Expensive and heavy clicker type tactical pen, comes with an excellent Easyflow 9000 ink cartridge, but it might not write underwater or on wet paper. Mine is at least 10 years old now and I've EDC'd it in my left front pants pocke...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

So I found out something interesting today about my AR. I installed an ambi safety selector on it the other day and today I decided to do a functions check on it. You guys ever watch the lock picking lawyer on YTube? He goes thru gun safes and gun locks like they weren't even there.
So does a circular saw with a metal cutting blade. 8-)
He uses phase shifting IIRC. :awesome:

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I think I'm going to convert my gun safe to at least a dual-action electrical/mechanical combo lock. The safe itself is fine, and the lock's OK...when it's got a working 9v battery. However, it's the only thing I have which requires one of those, and the spare battery (in the fridge) is also dead. ...

Is it just me, or is having a pic rail parallel with the muzzle device a bad idea? [snip...] It might be a compensator and so there's no slot on the bottom in this case. Not really, just don't put your hand up that way. I see a lot of lights even with the blast zone on a muzzle device these days. I...
