Re: Responsibility and Accountability in a SHTF Situation

I'l relate a short story... South Africa has deteriorated since the advent of "democracy". Infrastructure is not what it used to be and emergency services are really lacking. Average response time for police is usually dismal, especially on farms (where some of the worst crimes are committed). Aroun...

Re: Anyone have experience with 5.56 AKs?

I may have mentioned this before... I owned 2 converted Saiga's in .223. They were very accurate and reliable...depending on magazines! I think the major shortcoming of .223/ 5.56 AK's in the US, are magazines. I was about to start work on my Saiga's to accept Galil mags, when I realized I'm going t...

Re: Anyone have experience with 5.56 AKs?

Not sure about the twist rate on the Arsenals...but results may have been affected if you ran too heavy ammunition through it. 77gr will not produce wonderful results in a 1/12 barrel.
Sorry to hear you didn't like it though. Arsenal has always had a solid reputation.

Ditch the electrical tape for duct tape. Poncho. Single wall stainless water bottle. Lifestraw. Way to make fire. Swap the tools for a good multi tool. Petzl headlamp. Mora fixed blade knife. Paracord, fishing line IFAK and booboo kit. Knowledge above all. Your brain is your best survival tool. Sent...

Re: Ideas on best bug out firearms?

I've gone back and forth on this issue for many years. Started out with a Sub2k in 9mm to match my Edc Glock. Then tried AK, AR and shotguns...came to the conclusion that I don't want to leave guns in a bag or car, so only going either my Edc now. If I HAD to keep a long gun of some sort, it would b...

Re: If you could only have one...

Will go check it out. I don't want to be limited either, but based on my experience living under very strict gun control where you were licensed for a specific serial number and caliber and often limited to one rifle, one shotgun, one pistol (depending on how much money you have and thus what licens...

Re: The best minimalist PAW rifle?

Ha yes. I also learned to shoot on the Savage 24. In fact first thing I shot with it was a wild rabbit in a potato field. Followed by mamba and rinkhals (Mozambique cobra). Remember those days well as my grandparents took care of me at that point. Was too dangerous to live with my parents in the cit...

If you could only have one...

This has been done before, specifically in regards to caliber. I've been reading and doing research over the past week. I'm going to start collecting parts for a 12.5" AR pistol in 6.5G. The ballistics are imreasive to say the least! Even out if a stubby barrel... I'll report back once it's done and...

Re: The best minimalist PAW rifle?

So I was looking around and realized Chiappa makes a really winner. My wife even loves it and....basically...gave me permission to buy one. Once she gets more trigger time she is thinking she would like one for herself. I"m all over that. I"ve been thinking this would do nicely in a PAW with .22 LR...

Re: Anyone have experience with 5.56 AKs?

So I have two complete AR15s and another complete lower, Im pretty much trying to decide if I want another AR or the AK, any opinions? Whats the pros and cons of going with the 5.56 AK over another AR15? Mag compatibility, easy of mounting optics, manual of arms, parts availability. If I lived outs...

Re: Anyone have experience with 5.56 AKs?

Isnt there a company that does conversions so you can use AR15 mags in 5.56 AKs? There are a few mag conversions out there. I never got to the point of getting one of them, but I know they are out there. Sorry, can't remember the names of any of them. With that said, the Galil mags (while expensive...

Will be hard to beat a marlin 60 or a ruger 10-22 for that money. If you don't plan on getting more look ongoing guns, maybe a Mossberg 500 or maverick 88 in 12 gauge onstead?

Re: What higher end RDS is on your "goto" rifle?

Primary Arms Advanced on secondary rifles. Primary runs Aimpoint H1.
The primary arms dots are great, but the trust isn't there yet.
The Aimpoint is rock solid reliable. Proven and I'm going on 2 years on the same battery at medium intensity.

Re: Anyone have experience with 5.56 AKs?

MAGS MAGS MAGS! I started off in the US with 2 converted 223 Saigas. They both ran great and the best thing I did was set them up to it use Galil mags. Plastic mags are ok for the range when you run AK, but steel locking lugs are what you need for reliability. I never had any issues with my saigas a...

Re: Concealed Carry choice

I'd say Smith. There are some steals out there now. Then look at the Ruger LCR. Yes it is light, but it is reliable and affordable. The colts are super spendy and I would trust a kimber revolver yet... With all that said, get a LCP Custom. Real sights, decent trigger, flat profile and about as much ...

Re: Reasonable Force vs Necessary Force

- A mugging when confronted on the street with a mugger armed with an impact weapon or knife - You encounter a burglar in your home unsuspectingly who is carrying something in his hand that may or may not be a gun - A man breaking in to your car at 3am sets your car alarm off. He has a shiny gun in...

Would be a perfect zombie BOL! I mean it's an island with very few people on it. Pretty much completely self sustaining as far as food and water goes. I'd have gone for it for sure!

Re: Anybody here into SPRs or Recce AR15s?

I went down that road of worrying Stainless Steel barrels and barrel life when I did my "marksman style" AR... Basically, if you want SS, get it. It does get a smaller barrel life, but by the time you spend that much ammo to burn a barrel out, the cost of a new barrel will be negligible. I would sa...

A Scar H. My buddy has one all ninja'd out with a Trijicon VCOG,He let me shoot it quite a bit and it was pretty freaking awesome...too rich for my taste(4k in rifle+2k in optic) but I might've developed a weird somewhat romantic feeling for that rifle and set up.
