Re: Watches for long-term survival off the grid

I bought a cheep (<$100) model G-Shock with a solar face about 4-5 years ago. I've never needed to do anything to it and it has never not worked. My only complaints are the annoying wrist band and the crappy LED light.

Re: Experiences with automatic knives?

I have a Microtech Combat Trodden like this https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTSWFbID81_Wsg4gr4ZkjnmuEFcoK3XedjpMK8PDYjd_yT08DWcqQ It is utterly impractical but extremely fun to play with and satisfying to own. If you are planning on getting one make sure you have strong thumbs, ...

I love my KHHI Max and want one of their Bowies next. I really like the idea of them stepping up the heat treat and can't wait to get another knife from them.

Cool vids. Keep them coming.

Re: Lasers

Any laser capable of burning through a human head in under a second requires a lot of energy. Add to that the stipulation that it has to do this over and over again and you need a power source with a tremendous amount of stored energy. Any such weapon small enough to carry would ostensibly be a bomb.

If I were starving and I knew someone that had food, I like to think I'd look elsewhere instead of turning to violence. However, I have two daughters, and if they were starving, there isn't much I wouldn't do to get them fed. Desperate, well armed parents are probably the biggest source of potential...

EOD Robotics Breacher Bar http://countycomm.com/eodrtool.html About the size of a medium fixed blade knife. I've pried opened doors around the house with one (damn kids) and am confident that it could open the front door of most houses. It's tough, cheep, and not hard to carry. Only thing is that it...

I used to carry a Gerber 600 and a Spyderco Native but I recently switched them both out for a Leatherman Wave. So far I'm happy with the results.

Re: I have an AR. I also have lions and tigers and bears. Oh

I've got two things to add. 1) As I understand it, most African elephant poaching is done with AK47's. If an AK can reliably bring down an elephant, than I would assume that an AR could reliably bring down a bear. 2) I don't think the bears are really the biggest problem. From what I've heard bears ...

I got one of those Ace SOCOM stocks around 8 years ago. I hated it. The buffer shot out every time I opened my rifle and I could never attach a sling in a comfortable position. Magpul stocks ever since. Regardless of the stock used, if the buffer shot out when open something was wrong with your buf...

I just went and found that knife and it is still pretty fucking cool. Super fun to play with. Totally impractical, but awesome anyway.

But then, I am drunk again. You probably shouldn't listen to me.

Re: cant stop thinking about buying a switchblade

A few years ago I got drunk and bought a microtech combat troodon for like $450. It was cool for a few days. Now I don't even know or care where it is.

Don't do it. Not worth it.
