Re: Women's Guns

What are your favorite handguns if you're a woman, or your wife/girlfriend.. And why? Boo just got this for her concealed carry. We have a 9mm Semi (CZ) but she has a bit of arthritis and it is hard for her to pull the slide back. This is a 38 Special and with +P loads it makes a great close quarte...

Re: hunting, going from suburban, urban to rural on foot

Ive been wondering about this forever. If I bug out I had the idea I would be possibly hunting small game along the way. If I had to trek long way. Many people say the game will dissappear (from over-hunting?). Im not sure I believe that. There are hoards of squirrel in my area. And I know where th...

It's starting (again).....

Bud's gun shop had to send an email out to its customer base explaining how swamped they have been: "After spending the first six weeks of 2012 attending various firearms industry shows, including the NSSF Shot Show in Las Vegas with the highest dealer attendance of record, there was one obvious rec...

Re: How Much Ammo?

Boo, Just curious as the the reasoning for the non-AR stipulation. The query isn't to talk you into it, it's because of the commonality of the rifle and the ready supply of parts, as well as caliber choices. I'm looking at the Ruger Gunsight Scout. I have a friend, that has a friend who owns one. H...

...I've read you can get started fairly simply for a couple of hundred bucks or less in equipment and your first dies. I guess it is the reloading speed you want to achieve that ups the price on stuff.... You've heard correctly. You don't have to go with a Dillon Progressive Press to start. A Lee S...

from AKFTW: "22LR speaks for itself- you must own a .22LR firearm, and if you do not you must drop whatever you are doing and acquire one. Now. No but seriously, .22LR is basically the only rimfire caliber that is worth stocking- you can get good small game loads, stock DEEP and CHEAP in bricks for ...

from BullonParade: "Any interest in reloading? If you talked about it already, I must have missed it, and I'm sorry. Re: How Much Ammo?

Narrow down your ammo calibers. All those hunting calibers serve a purpose, but one common caliber would be a greater resource. Get a general LR caliber that can be used for SD and hunting. 30-06 os the most common hunting caliber in the US followed by 308. In the military a basic load is 7 mags ri...

Re: How Much Ammo?

I see you mentioned .20 pellet for practice... Do you mean for an air rifle? I ask, because I am familiar with .22 and .177, but have never heard of .20. Yes for air gun practice and plinking. The .20 pellet is not used in as many rifles/pistols as the others but it has some advantages...especially...

Re: How Much Ammo?

As a serious metric: many professional training classes will expect you to shoot on the order of 500-750 rounds per day. You should have enough on hand to do a 4 day class. That is 2000-3000 rounds of training level ammo. For 9mm runs around $600, and 556 runs under $1000. Keep that on hand; replac...

UndeadInfidel "Ammo stores are great, but I think guns and ammo are somewhat of a false sense of security. The Big Boo are you talking about things going to hell in a handcart or specifically an incident that would result in increased gun regulation in the US. That is a pretty good goal. I am set on ammo all except for my stock pile of 7.62x25. Just waiting for the wife's ok before I buy 2 800 round tins  . Re: How Much Ammo?

As you stated in the OP, I'd prefer to consolidate my ammo types by being selective in my firearms purchases. I personally stock 22lr(5000~), 45acp(600), .223/5.56(3500), and 12ga(350). I also own a 30-30 and 357mag, but those aren't priority on my list for stock. Yes, I want as much ammo as I can ...

I think you're 7.62x39 levels should go up, but so should mine  I'm having trouble finding my ammo in stock lately. Election season buying is in the upswing. Also, increase your AK count, and maybe diversify it. I've got 2 SGL21's and want to add SGL31's in 5.45 to get better range. Those two ...

Building the inventory for a variety of scenarios: Hunting/Defense/Practise. I also have lots of calibers in use. Re: How to double your food supply at minimal cost

Question, maybe some one can help with. Is there a way to get a rough guesstimate of ounces of food needed to sustain, say a 200 lb male? The closest I can come up with is a food exchange list. The problem is many foods are not listed by ounces but by serving which can be a volume measure (cup of m...

I bought an unfired Winchester 94, 1966 centennial edition. I'm going to shoot it and love it. I also ordered a set of solid brass peep sights for it, because I hate the stock sights and these will look oh so sexy with the gold receiver. I am just getting into lever actions afters years of bolt act...

Dropped cash on Rossi 44mag 16" carbine. Oh, I <3 this rifle. Will be my only lever gun. And 200 rds of 9mm from PSA for my day with Doc66. Please do us a short range report and some pics on that .44. I've been jonesing for a Rossi.357 lever but haven't had the opportunity to put my hand on one yet...
