Re: Testing my preps

Well after 2 months or so I learned a few things. I live in a house with a wife and two daughters, and they absolutely burn through toilet paper like it’s free. I need to put back more as the girls are on summer break so home more. Five and six year old hormel compleats are totally edible although u...

Re: Testing my preps

I have 15 years as a LEO. I also have 8 years in just investigations. I know the muni I’m part time at is hiring in July or August, I just have to wait. I’ve been on their roster for 12 years, even when I was full timing elsewhere. I’m just glad I have a fallback position and some supplies to help. ...

Testing my preps

I was blessed/cursed Thursday. My primary job decided it was time for us to part ways. I was looking to go full time back in to police work at my primary part time gig when they add full time staff next budget cycle anyway, but better to leave on my terms than to be told see ya. I have 6 weeks of ti...

Re: Pay it Forward - Firearm parts and accessories

I have two 13 rd magazines for a large frame EAA witness compact. Never loaded. The gun shop ordered mags supposedly for the wife’s compact 9mm and I was in a hurry so didn’t test fit at the store. The moment the door shut they became mine even though they ordered the wrong ones.

Re: Which Shotgun, Rifle and Four Wheel Drive?

My 04 Quad cab Ram 1500 w/factory off road package (3.92 gears, skid plates, limited slip, bilstein shocks), my beat up Mossberg 500 I received as a gift when I graduated the police academy, my AR with a cheap scope and a flash light I rattle canned into something that blends in to no known environm...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

I was hesitant but once the deal was done I felt good about it. This is the year I start getting serious about preparedness. My 9 year old daughter wanted to make salsa so I told her we would but only if we grew the stuff to do it. Today we bought the seeds to most of what we need to grow

Re: Tips for farmers cheese

Yes old topic. I used it to stuff some pasta shells and it was not bad. Stirred in some garlic powder and a bit of marinara before stuffing the shells. The shells were then baked with some more sauce and the whole dish was pretty good. I did expect it to be more like the hardened cheeses but now my ...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

And today I traded my Xbox 1 for a better plate carrier I can use at work or whenever it would be needed. Part of my health plan is getting rid of bad influences such as games. Instead of getting blasted by angry 12 year olds jacked up on energy drinks in multiplayer I have been walking, jogging, or...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

My wife isn’t 100% into being prepared, but doesn’t mind when she needs a can or jar of something so I can’t go crazy when we go shopping. Today I tubbed up February’s sneaky purchases. 22 cans veggies/fruit 5 pounds flour 4 pounds powdered milk 3 pounds spaghetti 1 canister butter cream frosting 1 ...

Re: Any reviews of the zombie paintball in Millstadt

Was fun but could have been better. The "zombies" just kind of move around by cover taunting you to light them up. 100 rounds goes fast. The guns are also mounted and hard to get into for accuracy. Being 6'8 I just popped one off for windage then guessed. The haunted trail after wasn't bad but no bl...

Re: What gear are are my fellow officers carrying in rural a

I was curious. My other job each car is equipped with AR and three mags, 12 gauge and 5 each of buck and slug, and everyone carries a back up. The rifle mags I have are just because I keep the most of my spares in the pouches on the case. I am quite happy to ditch stuff as it's heavy except for the ...

What gear are are my fellow officers carrying in rural areas

I recently took a part time job in a local town of about 1,500 people in SE Missouri. Upon my first shift I became the most experienced guy there. There is a chief and supposed to be two full time guys with about 8 reserves to round out the roster. There are no full time guys right now. It pays crap...

Tips for farmers cheese

I made my first batch Monday. I wasn't expecting tons of flavor so I added a jalapeño while it was draining in the colander. When it was done unless you chewed on jalapeño it was the most tasteless thing I've ever had. I added it to scrambled eggs and it even sucked the taste out of them. I used lem...

Re: What did you today for your BOV/how did you prepare your

Changed fluid in the diffs, started soaking bolts to make it easier for the 3 inch lift that came in to be installed this weekend. Temp dropped over the weekend (finally) so I also checked all the tire pressures. When it's on the lift for the lift kit I'll grease everything and check the u joints. I...

Storm in SE Missouri

Yesterday at approximately 4:30pm we got hit by a pretty decent storm. Power went out right away so I moved some frozen 2L bottles of water into the refrigerator just in case. My wife and 8 year old were out of town so it was just me, the 2 year old, and the dog. We played some games and I got out t...

Re: My first AR

For the class I ran irons. I'm not overly experienced with rifles but it did well. To pass, everything had to be in the 8 ring or better and that wasn't a problem. My instructor is a retired Marine and he also tore it down and shot it. He liked it and said it was good. I did add a cheap red dot afte...

Re: My first AR

Ran it through patrol rifle yesterday. Other than needing 18 clicks on the front site and 22 on the rear to get zero it was great. No issues with cheap ammo, no surprises other than I actually shot well with it. I'm 6'8 and I have a hard time getting in tight on stocks but the 6 position it came wit...

My first AR

I have been trying to justify buying an AR. I was window shopping and found a a Del-Ton DT sport for $399. It was brand new and had no rear sight and shipped with 2 mags. I added a $20 sight to the order. I stripped it down and lubed it today. I'm not overly familiar with the platform but this one s...
