Re: New BOV

Congrats on both the new (to you) BOV and on the color! I'm a firm believer that vehicles should not blend into bad weather (wet pavement, fog, snow, etc). So I guess you like Ford's new "Saber" color? That ain't blending into anything. (Actually, despite my usual--and to my artist mother's disgust...

Re: Keychain Flashlight Needed - picky specifics

I have a Nitecore Tube of which I'm very fond. Actually, I have two; one on my keychain, one in my EDC bag. Click on, but firm enough I've never had it turn on by accident. It also has the peculiar, though dubiously useful, characteristic of acting like a power outage light. That is, if you turn it...

Re: Keychain Flashlight Needed - picky specifics

Just for shits & giggles, I bought one of the Lumintop AAA lights so I could do a direct comparison between it and its larger cousin the AA Tool 2.0 http://i.imgur.com/LWGy9GCl.jpg AAA Tool on the top, AA Tool 2.0 on the bottom, pretty standard house key (to a place I don't own anymore) in the middl...

I actually found these, and may buy half a dozen blocks. They are cheaper than the ground Himalayan salt from Costco and would easily be stacked/stored for future use. Plus salt slab trout/salmon is amazing!

I look forward to hearing your tale of success trading fish, shells and salt at fort Halfpint via the evening drums story hour or the morning smoke signal
So, you won't be on the evening ham net or have a ham in your community? :(

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

I just had an, "Oh shit!" moment here when I came back in from spray painting my steel targets and some parts for the lights that needed a coat of paint. Yesterday, while working on the lights in the garage, I was wearing my Nebo Rebel headlamp and I earlier been recharging it on my desk in my offic...

Re: Keychain Flashlight Needed - picky specifics

I cannot praise the quality of this particular brand more than to say they are freaking awesome. I keep one of these on me at all times and have gifted a dozen or more of them to friends over the past two years. At 3.5" it meets your spec, it works best with rechargeable batteries but can also run o...

Re: All Things Salt

The chemical compound potassium iodide (KI) is itself pretty stable provided it's kept dry, which is what you'll want to do with salt anyway. The 5-year number for iodized salt takes into account that the storage conditions probably aren't going to be ideal. However, if you also store KI tablets in ...

Re: Bug Out Gear Deals (Post 'em when you find 'em) I

In what I would call the Deal of the Week Academy Sports is selling the Taurus G2S for $279. With the purchase you get a FREE Rossi RS22 rimfire rifle. Additionally there is a MIR for $30 through July 7th through Taurus on that model. So for $249 + tax you get a decent concealed carry piece plus an...

That is absolutely true. But I’ll guarantee you go talk to the homeless there, over half have been shipped up from out of state and another 10% shipped from within the state. I lived in the ID/Chinatown district not far from a few homeless shelters and assistance places. I saw busses with Nevada, O...

Re: Southern California Earthquake Swarm Takes Unexpected Turn

We’ve been having the same thing happen up here in WA. Lots of mini quakes. Unfortunately we still know only about 2% of earthquakes. NT2C you’re analogy isn’t partially good. The big flakes still cause your scraper to get hung up and needs more force to break free. Those little ones don’t release ...
