Re: Have you had to draw your concealed carry, and why?

My wife just reminded me of one incident that happened a year or two back. We have two driveways on one end of our property, a paved one that comes up to the two-car garage that's attached to the house, and a gravel one that branches off of that and leads off to my shed (which the previous owner/re...

I repaired my security camera system. It got zapped by an electrical storm knocking out the power supply to the cameras.
Same thing happened to the PS on one of my rear yard cameras. I now keep two spares in the house.

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Saw this as a ad before a youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unp4PaMKezY Am I the only one cringing seeing steel being shot at what seems like too close range? I would suspect they are shooting frangible ammo. It turns to powder when it hits steel. Likely so. Still makes me cringe though.

Re: Questions about power inverters

A nice 100 amp+ alternator hookup from the car would be nice to have....all that is required is an appropriate set of jumper cables...and enough gas for an hour of run time every day. They are cheaper and easier to hook up than an extra solar panel....just sayin. True enough but we have to be caref...

Re: Questions about power inverters

Did a little bit of interneting. On inverters the timing is often off due to the square wave form. It was suggested that an induction motor on the same load might slow the edges of the modified sine wave making it sync it more with the motor and therefore be more smooth. This would then smooth out ...

Re: Questions about power inverters

Corded power tools is the #1 reason for adding one of these to a vehicle in the past, but that was when battery-operated tools didn't have the advantages of modern battery chemistry. Back in the days of 12v (or less) Ni-Cad battery packs things like battery-powered drills were very light duty and th...

I always think of Escape to Athena When I see a C96. That movie made me actually want one with the little stock. Up until three years ago when I suffered some serious nerve damage that left me disabled, I was a very active member of the local ham radio community and the county EmComm team (part of fire & rescue). Twice, both back when I was young and stupid, neither of which I can talk about here because both times I was carrying illegally (damn near impossible to get a carry permit in NYC, then or now) and we have strict rules here about discussing illegal activities. Installed the final new lock on the hose and I have all the locks keyed alike to a key with very good bitting. When we move the locks will all be rekeyed to a brand new set of keys and those will be given to the person who buys the house, through their agent. We'll also be leaving behind a "Welcome ...

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

" illegally manufactured and sold" I'm going to guess it involved an 80% or some other sort of homebuilt lower with no serial #. You can home build all you want for personal use, but you can't sell the resulting firearms. And you can't manufacture any guns for sale without an 07 FFL. And anything y...
