Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Was out at Randolph AFB picking up some extra magazines for my wife’s handgun class tomorrow (got her a couple hours private instruction at our local range for Christmas), and saw one of the SPs hanging out at the gun counter handling one of these monstrosities : https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i...

My Dane ancestors would roll over in their graves if they knew I went to Norway armed and didn't loot and pillage. Best if I stay home.

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

With enough gears you can pull a freight train with a washing machine motor, so the trigger weight might not be horrific, but you can see that bolt start going back as his finger starts pulling, and at about the same rate of movement, so I'm thinking it's a series of levers pulling the bolt back. Y...

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Okay, so it's pretty evident that each trigger pull extracts the previous round, cycles the bolt and fires the next. Gotta be a hellishly long, heavy trigger pull. I'm curious about pull weight, if they're playing games like a gas return setting a preload spring on the bolt, instead of cycling the ...

I'm going to just leave this here, along with a soft reminder about our politics rules. We should be able to discuss this without violating those rules. You guys have always been good about doing that and I applaud you for it.

Re: Religious & Ethinc Groups Take CERT to New Level

If the Jews are allowed their own private patrols why not the Muslims? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shomrim_(neighborhood_watch_group) I see this as reducing faith and trust in the State - people shifting their primary loyalty. Some Shomrim members in the United States have been convicted of assau...

Re: Religious & Ethinc Groups Take CERT to New Level

Good point That said this one is doing what I suggest as far as the name goes. It is going by the name of Brooklyn South Safety Patrol and down playing the religious affiliation. https://s3.amazonaws.com/bklyner/bklyner/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/boro-park-shomrim.jpg If you want to help your commu...

Re: High gain AM/FM automotive antenna mast?

Because of the wavelengths involved with broadcast band (both AM and FM) radio you really can't compare them well to CB. The frequencies are too far apart to have more than very general characteristics in common. There's a lot of other differences between the two that make it a poor comparison. The ...

Wasn't sure what to make of all this. Trying to picture a Christian Community Patrol group wandering the streets trying to look like the local police without push back and was having trouble picturing that. Those issues aside maybe some New Yorkers could weigh in on this. https://nypost.com/2018/12...

Re: SHTF and you can only have one gun

Thus, the ideal single gun would be a tri-barrel shotty with the center barrel being .22 WMR (which I believe will work with .22 LR too) That's a negative: .22WMR is longer and wider-bodied than .22LR. You may be thinking of the old .22XL, which was a longer .22LR, but AFAIK didn't actual...

Re: SHTF and you can only have one gun

Well, to be honest, I hate the 9x19mm and the jam prone AR15/M16 (the U.S. military claims to have fixed the jam issues with every iteration, yet at gen 4 it still is a jam prone rifle/carbine platform, and the M855.SS109 rounds punch a narrow, little, thru and thru .22 caliber hole that requires m...

Re: SHTF and you can only have one gun

Man, that's a thinker. I guess an high quality AKM with a folding stock, LED tac light and laser sight combo if the scenario is full on WROL, a Glock 21 with laser and light combo on the accessory rails if there is still a military/National Guard presence. And plenty of high capacity mags for both....

I already own what I'd carry if I had to bug. It would be a tough choice, but probably: Pistol : Glock 21 .45 ACP with laser sight/LED tac light combo or H&K USP .45 (full size. I have more extra mags for the Glock and the G21 carries an extra round per mag :13 +1 vs 12 +1) Rifle One of my AKMs (I ...
