Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
I can dig a quad rail, despite my main AR running a Troy Alpha. Some dudes don't have a need, they have a want.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Need an upper to (almost) finish my build. Found two complete ones I really dig. Both come with CH and BCG. 1.) Stag Model 2 upper , 16" Carbine length w/ MI Rear sight for $500. I'd need to shave the FSB, add a Alpha/Bravo rail and get a front sight. Not too expensive... hopefully. Pick up is about...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread
Well I have an AK that jams more than any AR I've ever had. I think its a combination of a tight chamber and lacquer coated ammo. Stuck cases are frequent after shooting 200 rounds or so. I bent my cleaning rod trying to push out this last one, and its still stuck for the time being. I plan on usin...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Acquired my new lower yesterday in a FTF meeting. And today I grabbed up a Spikes milspec tube kit for $40. Now I'm on the lookout for a good stock. At least the hard part is over.

Re: Another optics for an AR-15 Question
I would (and do) go with an ACOG.
I use the TA-47 on my A2 upper. Yeah, it's not variable, but it's 2X and has great eye relief. If you can find a TA-01, I'd go with that. 4X is pretty wicked, and it has a set of "iron sights" on top. Works pretty well inside of 25m.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Just noticed the staking on my gas key screws seemed a bit odd. The opposite side seems fine enough. Seems as if the one side is pressed in, rather than pressed down, if that makes any sense. I know they screws should be locked in place. Unfortunately, I haven't really paid too close attention to th...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
One of these cost almost $30 with shipping. http://www.brownells.com/userdocs/products/l_100004870_3.jpg After studying it, a universal wire loop is almost nothing but steel cable and a cable clip. Thinking I could do almost as good, I went to Lowe's. Picked up a foot of 3/16" steel cable, and a 1/1...

TAG's Banshee Plate Carrier Review
Last July/August, I was in the market for a plate carrier. I had recently been honorably discharged from the Army, and was looking to upgrade some of my gear. I had gone from an IBA to an IOTV, and was ready to get all high speed, like most civilians are. Unfortunately, I was unemployed for a good p...

Re: FAB Defense GL-MAG AR-15 Stock
So, I ordered one of these recoil reducing stocks. I wanted it for my CMMG .22 / M4. Just kidding. I actually didn't order it to counter recoil, I ordered it because I really want the QD points for use with an Ares sling. It was listed for less than other stocks with that feature, and it lo...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread
Just found a dude selling his PK-AS for $300, and since that's the route I'm going, I'm taking it off his hands. Now I just have to have the left side receiver safety selector removed and have a AK side rail installed. http://i.imgur.com/RONRY46l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hgaHKdEl.jpg http://i.imgur.co...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
finally stepping into the Longarms section with my first AR build. i've got an 80% lower that i'm milling in a few weeks and managed to find an lpk. i'm looking to buy a upper assembly in 5.56 and i've read that some of those advertised as 5.56/.223 are actually chambered in .223 which can be damag...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Getting about $600 back for tax return, and I'm thinking of building an upper, piece by piece. My current upper is a fixed A2, and I'm looking at doing a flat-top. What tools will I need to assemble it?

Re: Poor Man's White Light Mount for AR Rifles
I use Makos angled light mount for standard hand guards. I love it. One of the only Mako products I actually will recommend. We'd love a photo of that! I'll have to check it out. On the Ulitmak: -Modify the lower HG to fit first . Modifying and being able to install the lower HG should take place before the Ultimak gas tube is installed (like, slots milled etc) -The (now modded) lower HG should be installed (and the lower portion locked in place) before the top rail (with t...

Re: Kel Tec Rifles
If you can find a Sub-2000 in .40cal for a decent price, I'd recommend it. I owned one for a while and kept it in my back seat. The folding feature was very awesome, and took up minimal space. It was super light, almost like a toy. The heaviest part was the bolt carrier group. I could easily tag a 1...

Until I figure out what exactly is keeping my bolt from racking while using the Ultimak, my Tantal will stay in it's current state. I have a feeling it's the retaining plate, and if that's the case, it'll need a good grinding. http://i.imgur.com/fB89xw6l.jpg Some copy-pasta from sumdood on W@rriort...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread
what exactly is keeping my bolt from racking while using the Ultimak Is the Ultimak pinching the piston? The shim might not be right. Loosen the screws and see if the bolt moves a bit more. The only time it does is when the retaining plate is in place and the lever is up. Other than that, the ultim...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread
Tantal is almost complete. Last step is to file down the handguard retainer just a tad more.

Considering removing the safety selector on the left side and putting a side rail on instead. I'd love to get a PK up on that sucker.
