Re: Nasty surprise today

I'd go with a pro on this one. It could be HUGE, and you could just endanger your family.

Re: Nasty surprise today

by the way, for a hornet stink instant relief came from the snuff my grandma was chewing at the time. She packed some on top of the sting/bite and it started to feel cool and not hurt as much. OT: As far as the nest, I think going early in the morning and spraying it is your best bet. Gas, fire stre...

Re: Nasty surprise today

Growing up, my grandparents had a crab apple tree (tiny green, sour apples) that we used to pick up the rotten ones to knock down good ones from the tree. After about 3 apples my brother, cousin, and me all got to experience what hornets do when their nest gets knocked out of a tree. We didn't even ...

Re: Closest Call

When I was very young (like 5 or 6 years old), I got some kind of diarrheal disease from drinking bad water. The bad water in question was from my grandmother's vacation home well, which was only used a few months a year, and apparently had some kind of snails in it. None of the adults got sick, bu...

Re: home chemistry in the paw

vinegar and baking soda makes a gas that's fairly safe Yep. It's CO2. Same as the bubbles in your soda. Don't have lots of time at work tonight, but here is one. Soak wood ash in water. Let stand for a few days and drain off liquid. You will have a common (potassium hydrox) lye. Evaporate off (or b...

great post.

Is there anything you should do to help with bugs/eggs that are already in some of the items, or will the O2 packets help with this?

what an example of how things can get out of hand from both sides. I'm praying for the families there and hope this ends soon. I am learning from this situation however.

I voted pistol because if alone, I need to be able to grab my child and still fire if needed. If my wife is involved as well I will have my rifle.

Re: "Self Defense Tip: Don’t Use a Rifle"

The one argument that shotguns for HD have going for them is that they're cheap. You can find pump shotguns for $150 all day long. I even remember when people could find Saiga 12's for less that $200. AR's usually start around $600 and the better semi pistols usually start around $450 and work thei...

Our home defense plan is for my wife to have a pistol, but its so she can carry our child as I cover with a rifle.

I think we have to be careful of how we picture gangs. We think of the young punks on the front line in the street. There are people in gangs who are smart, experienced, and deadly. Just because the "face" of gangs are stupid kids who don't know how to hold their firearm doesn't mean that is the onl...

Re: Survive the zombie apocalypse AMISH STYLE

I am kind of spoiled living less than an hour away from Lancaster PA, but I can tell you that the Amish ain't dumb either. Buying tools and stuff directly from them isn't cheap. I used to live in Western Pa, very close to two "rival" sects of Amish, but every year they cam together and had a gigant...

Quote from the site: "Lehman's was started to serve the local Amish. Today, you'll find that several of our vendors are Amish craftsmen." Lehman's does NOT claim to be Amish. They "sell low-tech items in a high-tech world." This is their YouTube channel URL. - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAS5v...

It would actually be cool if they added encryption functions to this device. You can set your own key inside the device and text back and forth over a secure channel. Would add usefulness to a marginal idea.

Re: What side are you on?

I"m saying sometimes we don't have good choices. At least, that is what I think and what I see around me. I believe I understand better now. In your example of rewiring our brains, and killing others/those close to us for survival, it's either everyone dies or at least one can survive. But to me, s...

Re: What side are you on?

Well, we all make choices. Some live and die by principals. Sometimes we (human beings) are given a machete or knife and told to kill our father/mother/sister/brother. Then given a rifle and told to follow. Something happens to the brain when we (human beings) make sacrifices like that in order to ...

Re: What side are you on?

But in your example, my freedom of choice to not pick a side is enough for me to die for. Will I win, no I won't, but some things are worse than death. I have some convictions that I will go against the whole world for if I have to, and not think twice about it. If my family is threatened to be rap...
