Re: Anyone ever give up on a caliber?

quit 5.7x28 when i realized it was an even more expensive .22mag and 50rd magazines made me spend too much. 45acp when i realized it sucks as a cartridge. (flame away i know) not strong enough to stop everything in the woods but expensive/heavy enough to make buying/shooting not that fun so i switch...

Re: What would you do...with your tax return?!

i already got my return and received $4200. first year since 2008 i had a full time job the whole year (college/part time/laid off since) so have since adjusted my withholdings so i'll get about $100 more net per paycheck and about 1/4 the return at the end of the year. if my calculations are right....

Just catching up and awesome story!! Can't wait for more! Going back a couple posts though just had to include the fact that other than the paycheck, I'd MUCH rather be a CSM than a major! Lol. Keep it up sir!

Re: Is there any more gun that I "Need"?

An AR15 with a .22 bolt is the best investment IMO for tons of reasons. 30 seconds to go from 5.56 to .22 and only s few more oz of weight for the conversion plus a mag or 2 and ammo. Plus great for training without spending .50 every trigger pull. Conversions with a single 25 rd mag are about $150

I hope he reconsiders "picking up" a glock, or any gun for that matter. Someone that careless shouldnt be allowed to own one IMO. There are no second chances with guns.

So what's better? Glock or 1911?

Think we need a new thread.

Couldnt help but LOL at the line "......at your local saddle shop....." I live on the edge of nowhere and have to drive 15 mins to see any kind of civilization and never once have i seen a saddle shop. ;-) Anyway, for $40 that seems like a hell of a deal for a custom made to you and your gun carry r...

Maybe coulda done something different but I'd say you handled it just fine. And good on you for not only having a gun in the house but also carrying while home. SOO many people I have talked to don't and think they're safe at home and no need to walk around with it on.

Re: Alternatives to raising animals in PAW?

I'll try and answer the questions that were raised. I'm definitely not a vegetarian. I could eat 3 different types of chicken for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Steak on occassion, fish and seafood only if at a restaraunt, pork when money is tight. I have no issue buying from the grocery. And I like ...

Re: Alternatives to raising animals in PAW?

Not sure about a local butcher being available and being able to handle it if there was. I can barely cut up and grill a 3lb tri tip but they're quite tasty when I muster the courage! ALl the butchers I know are in grocery stores and I already have a pretty good job. But trading is a good id...

Alternatives to raising animals in PAW?

I've lurked here for a long time and learned tons. Just wanted to say thanks first of all. But I have a very real concern that I've battled with for awhile. I'm not a "hard core" prepper by any means but want to be when resources allow. I have about 4 months worth of food if rationed properly for my...

Re: Black Ops 2

I may be alone but I thought the whole game was beyond lame. HUGE let down from the last one. Great ideas, horrible execution. Choosing your own adventure so to speak in campaign was an awesome idea but didnt' affect the story much. I don't like the zombie modes but loved the survival/missions on MW...

Re: what revolvers do you own?

LCR 357 (best ankle gun ever)
S&W Mod19-4 4inch 357mag (only gun I've brought home wife ever got excited about so that's never going anywhere)
Ruger Redhawk 44mag 7.5in stainless (kill anything on earth)

I don't care for revolvers much but these are each very purposeful.

Re: WINTERGEDDON XIII: Choose Your Fate

I would love to do this but have a few questions. 1) At best I'd be able to come out Friday evening/saturday morning and would have to leave Sunday afternoon. Is there an option for late arrivals/early leavers? 2) Are we renting a campsite or roughing it in the woods? 3) What day are we shooting and...

Re: Limiting your Cache to Three Calibers...

Tried this exercise. Didn't work. Easier because you gave 3 calibers instead of 3 guns so thinking while typing: .22lr of course. This covers my .22 upper on my AR, 10/22s, Walther P22 suppressed for ninja missions, and buckmark for longer ranged pistol shooting where a rifle isn't used for whatever...
