Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

I haven't been able to find anything after probably 30-45 minutes of searching, but does anyone know if there was a transit case for M1 rifles? All I could find were a couple display cases, and soft cases. It's basically just for shits and giggles so I could just copy and modify a generic or Enfiel...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

So, a while back, I got myself a PSA KS-47. For those not familiar with PSA's terminology, that's their 7.62x39 AR that uses AK mags. Why? Because why not? So far, I've taken it to the range, and it's had some serious reliability issues. First time, put 100 rounds through it. Toward the end, things ...

I can't find it anywhere that will let me embed the image, but always remember the Oxford comma.

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

I'll keep saying it till I'm blue in the face; social capital is vital, and cannot be emphasized enough. I fully agree. I've repeatedly read how small gangs during breakdowns quickly grew into very large organizations as people flocked to anyone with the slightest semblance of strength, organizatio...

I just assume... Texas... Deer lease... 500 yard range. That seemed to be the norm when I was there. Well, sure...but I can deer hunt for free at my parents' place, it's just a bit too far to drive for a casual Saturday afternoon shoot. Might as well drop the $1k for the local tacticool club. :| I ...

The MagPul BUIS were in the parts box. The scope is on the "When I have more $$$" list. This was just to get the irons zeroed and function check the rifle. (Korean surplus (PMC) M80 ball. Not expecting sub-MOA). There is a range suitable for stretching, but it's like 40 minutes or so away. And cost...

My AR-10s have scopes and 45 degree offset BUIS. They are not really "BU", but more for close range shots. The 308 has legs, stretch them out. The MagPul BUIS were in the parts box. Mental note: that thing the drill sergeants teach you, about putting your nose to the charging handle (to ensure consistent eye placement) when shooting the M-16 or M-4?

Not advised when shooting an AR-10.

But if they're going to hold the guns as evidence, they have to have a warrant to take them, which means you need to have probable cause to believe that each of those specific guns is connected to a specific crime, signed off by a judge. And they can only hold them indefinitely if they can establish...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Looks like Smith and Wesson released a M&P 2.0 Subcompact... basically the old M&P9c but in 2.0 fashion... Color me interested. But people are mad it is not a SIG 365 or SA Hellcat competitor. I guess you can't please everyone The 2.0 is too big IMO. It is almost the same size as a full size. I ima...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

There was a time in this country where shooting a fleeing burglar in the back was frowned upon but accepted. That time has passed. May depend on local law. There are provisions in the Texas code where, if someone is fleeing with your property, you may use the level of force necessary to recover/pre...

But it ceased being a standard issue front line combat rifle for the ground services ~1968. Unless you were in the brown water Navy in Vietnam, those rifles in the arms locker on the USS Whatever were not really combat weapons anymore.

Re: 2019 - Current Battle Rifles in 7.62x51

I'm not sure where you're getting that 1958-1968 date from but I don't think it's correct, based on the fact that my command was issued M14 rifles in March of 1975, most Navy ships still have a number of them in the ship's armory, and they're still in limited use as designated marksman rifles today...

Re: 2019 - Current Battle Rifles in 7.62x51

The Army (and probably the Marines) did pull a lot of them out of storage during the GWOT because of the need for something with better power at range than the M-16 or M-4, and the M-14s were available NOW, without having to go through even SOCOMs abbreviated procurement channels. They have since be...

Re: 2019 - Current Battle Rifles in 7.62x51

Thoughts on the actual battle rifles in the bunch, or the NATO ones at least: M-14: there are good reasons that the U.S. military is the only ones to have ever actually bought M-14s (the only other countries that used them got them for free from Uncle Sugar), and that the M-14 had the shortest servi...

With the NYT now openly expressing the opinion that they are now part of the rebellion the 4th Estate has pretty much lost it's collective mind.
