Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I'm thinking of getting a bayonet for my AR, but mine is a 16 inch barrel carbine and everything I'm finding is designed for 20 inch barrel rifles. I know there's adapters, but everywhere I check is either sold out or backordered by months. Ah well, it's not really necessary, just something I thoug...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

This ammo shortage must be hitting folks harder than I thought..... TFB - The Bayonet Mount from Geissele Automatics If you have five Picatinny rail sections left Geissele Automatics now has a solution for you, called the “Super Stabby Bayonet Mount“, or SSBM for short – the name gives an idea of h...

I found one. And I bought it. The last one.

Handy, because I actually only needed the one.

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

This last week I completely stripped down my "American Enfield" Winchester, U.S. Rifle, .30 Cal. Model of 1917 (I just love that sentence for a name) to its constituent parts, cleaned the metal and set it in a new (to me) stock and set of handguards. I mentioned this rifle in the longarms subforum ...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Oh, ok. Looks like I'll be storing my 870 with an empty chamber now. Lots of people, including myself, keep their pump shotguns in what's sometimes called "cruiser ready", meaning loaded, unchambered, safety off. Prevents accidents and is quick to deploy if needed. I didn't realize there was a name...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I have been interested in a lever action as a fun gun for a while, but they are spendy enough that I have a hard time justifying them to myself. Some day. If I were to get a Mare's Leg style lever gun I think I'd like to get a Henry Axe. If Winchester would make a replica of their Model 1895 Russia...

Re: 2020 Hurricane Season

Helps a good bit that it's been pretty dry most of the summer. Ground soaks up a lot more of the rain.

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

So looks like Palmetto State Armory is buying Remington. I didn't see that coming. [edited for clarification] The company that owns PSA and a couple other gun related companies has put in an attractive bid to buy Remington's Ammo side of the house. The deal hasn't been inked yet but it looks to be ...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

I am surprised no one seems to be talking about the possibillity (Very strong likelyhood) that the protests and riots are being actively encuraged by Russia who are really good at "influence operations"... They (and putin) have a vested interest in making USA as weak as possible, and if you are to ...

From the looks of some of the mags, at least one of his ARs was 7.62x39. Also note the tactical dirt colored one seems to have an AWB-compliant stock on it.

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

I wonder if something along the lines of Google Cardboard with old phones could be used as a quick defense against laser attacks? Not quick in the sense of something to be assembled on site, but quick in the sense that it is easily available existing tech that would be relatively inexpensive. I kno...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

Here's something that could kick things off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK8liiYOYmQ Personally, I feel officers should be issued mirrors and start teaching these fools that lasers are two-way. (and someone needs to create a smart munition that homes on laser beams and zaps it) If I was a smarte...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)

In spite of all of the above, I don't ever recall elected Federal officials being subject to repeated public harassment, physical attacks and shootings (Representative Scalise) until very recently in my life. A lack of trust and a lack of respect in/for our system of government seems to be at play ...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I listed a Glock 23 I bought used a number of years ago and never shot much on Armslist for just a bit higher than msrp of a new one. I had 15 offers to buy in 8 hours. This market is nuts. And I have one less .40 in my safe. :-) I really only listed it that high so people could haggle, which peopl...

Re: 2020 Hurricane Season

This morning, I was pretty solidly in the right side of the cone for Marco, and on the edge of the left side for Laura. Now, who knows.

Although it's looking like Louisiana, and New Orleans in particular, did something to annoy the big guy in the sky. Again.

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I have a decent stock but I'm a believer in Clint Smith's way of looking at things. "No one ever complained about having too much ammo in a gunfight." That may be, but I definitely had too much ammo when it was time to move. See also bullets. That stuff weighs a ton. This was my problem. I was in t...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

One thing I noticed yesterday, looking at Ammoseek, at least for 9mm, is that you have to get down the list a bit to find the combination of a seller that I've heard of selling a brand that I've heard of. In this case, it's BulkMunitions, selling PMC 124gr FMJ at $0.659 per round if you buy a case. ...

If you've got an M1 carbine, the RoK surplus cans of 1080 rounds on strippers are still going for reasonable prices.

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I went to my local Academy last night. The only thing on the shelves in the ammo aisle was a ton of bird shot (and pallets in the aisles - dove, duck, etc seasons coming; I guess that stuff was already in the warehouse before the panic hit) and a few lonely boxes of .22 WMR. Not even any .22 LR. I ...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Random question: has anyone actually seen a Dan Wesson DWX pistol in the wild yet? On a distantly related note, I see the CZ Custom has the 10mm CZ-97s they showed off at SHOT listed on their website. https://czcustom.com/new-firearms/cz-pistols-custom.html/ Base -97B version: https://czcustom.com/n...
