Re: The Coming Civil War

Not everyone should have access to guns — domestic abusers, for example, have proven by their actions that they cannot be trusted with that kind of responsibility — and not everyone needs it. No one without a significant amount of training should be handling a firearm at all, which is why I think d...

Re: Updating my Zombie Squad AR.

OK, I really like that stock for a project that's pops in and out of my head. Not to threadjack, but it would be a shootable AR built to look as much as possible as a Blastech A280. (Rebel commando rifle from Return of the Jedi.)

But the lawsuit being won simply doesn't make sense.
Lawsuits like this are won because the jury feels sorry for the family of the "victim" and they figure the state (in this case) or the defendant/the defendant's insurance company can pay out the $$$ and not miss it.

Randomly wondering if there was something in that area that was actually a target, or a damaged bomber dumping its load to try to get home, or just dumped because they couldn't find the target, or what?

How did it come to be there?

She broke her leg and tore a meniscus. But only after three days of wandering. In her defense (can't believe I'm defending any aspect of her experience), in dense forest an untrained person will walk in circles even when they think they're walking in a straight line. Of course rule number one is th...

If the front sight is too wide for your taste, you can always replace it with a National Match version. https://www.ammogarand.com/m1-garand-m1 ... 14062.html

You're lucky...I tried to go to my local outdoor range and it was closed because all the rain over the last week or so (on top of an extremely wet fall and winter) has turned everything to mud out there. First the Russians engage in info ops during the election. Then they send raputitsa to Texas. W...

The other big thing more development does is cover up dirt with pavement and buildings - i.e. non-porous surfaces. Which means more runoff going into streams and rivers, instead of soaking in. I live in Brazos County, about 2 hours north of Houston metro, between the Brazos and Navasota rivers. We'v...

Re: Projection of extended blackouts for CA this summer

The power shut downs will be to wild fire prone areas during times with high winds. This after the Camp Fire last year was caused by wind taking down a transmission line, causing sparks in a dry area. Urban areas aren't generally wild fire prone. Now, if transmission lines from power plants TO urban...

They've got 1000 rounds of American Eagle 5.56 55gr with 10 PMags for $359.99 at the moment.

No idea what kind of a deal that is, since I don't know the going price for AE 55gr.

Add me to the list of folks who want to be able to buy a chunk of land big enough that I can shoot at least some guns without having to go to the range. Tier 1: with a berm, 25m for pistols and .22s. Tier 2: rifles (with berm probably) out to 100m, shotguns Tier 3: rifles 150m+ There are plots that ...

I visited the area near Verdun, and the Verdun museum, when I was stationed in Germany. The ground in a lot of the areas deemed to dangerous to use is still crenelated from the shelling.

If a pregnant women turns zombie...why would the baby be born at all?

Zombies are dead. Or undead, anyway. But they're not growing/aging/changing, so the baby/fetus would just remain as it was, where it was - inside the mother. At least that's what makes the most sense to me.

Do a web search for "iron harvest." They're still ploughing up shells from WWI by the ton a century later - and may be for another 400 years, by one estimate.

Most of those old bolters are quite sturdy (especially the Mauser based ones). Of which I prefer the (substitute standard) M1917 to the M1903. (I have 2 of the former)

I bought an M1903A3 from the CMP back when they had them. It's still in the plastic bag, encased in enough cosmoline to survive in a Soviet Russian Siberian arms stash for another 100 years. The two Italian-return M1 carbines I bought were clean and ready to go (except for the rear sight on one of t...

And how much of that is self-induced? Lack of new resevior capacity added (basically since Jerry's dad was governor), resevoirs below capacity because of maintenance reasons, and use (dumping) of water for 'environmental' reasons (delta smelt, etc)?

Is lusting after enough space to set up my reloading gear (my Dillon 550 has been in a box since I PCSed to Fort Bragg in 2007, and my 3rd kid was born shortly thereafter) and time to use same considered 'firearms related'?
