Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

They lost the .mil M16 and M4 contracts to FN-USA, who operates out of SC, a lower cost (and gun friendly) location, with a newer plant, probably a younger work force, and almost certainly none of the retiree expenses that Colt has.

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

A big part of why the XM8 died was that the Army tried to get cute and sidestep the bid solicitation process for a new rifle/carbine. HK got the R&D cntract for the OICW. What became the XM8 was originally the carbine part of that whole system, which the Army had HK develop separately when it became...

Re: The Coming Civil War

The whole piece is interesting, but what stuck out to me most was the close: The most trenchant lesson for the modern age is one that also seems increasingly relevant to the West: When political adversaries are no longer fellow citizens to live with but rather enemies to be crushed, we all lose. Har...

Re: The Coming Civil War

Any attorneys on here care to posit if the NRA has a case for slander? I am not an attorney, didn't ever play one on TV, and it's been years since I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. That being said, I am an NRA member and I would be more than happy to join the rest of my so-called "terrorist" broth...

AAI Corporation/Textron Systems in Hunt Valley, Maryland; General Dynamics-OTS Inc. in Williston, Vermont; and Sig Sauer in Newington, New Hampshire.
One of the not-SiG teams will be using the cased telescoping ammo. Can't recall which it is off the top of my head.

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

" illegally manufactured and sold" I'm going to guess it involved an 80% or some other sort of homebuilt lower with no serial #. You can home build all you want for personal use, but you can't sell the resulting firearms. And you can't manufacture any guns for sale without an 07 FFL. And anything yo...

Except .223 is used for hunting. Makes prairie dogs blow up real nice. Also useful for ground hogs, coyotes, and similar sized critters.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I have an AR project. Not going for any specific use, the sole purpose is to be the most 'triggering' AR-15 I can manage to build. The criteria I have chosen as 'triggering' are this: how many AWB features can I manage to stick on a single rifle? So far, I have the lower pretty well sorted out. I ha...

About the only thing I buy there is my kids' underwear. And car batteries.

I may go see if they have any WWB .308 when my AR-10 upper gets here. But only because Academy is like 12 miles away and WalMart is on my way to and from the gym.

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

I need advice. My dad and I were shooting. He is getting to where he has a hard time seeing the sights when shooting squared up to the target. Re: The Coming Civil War

Just one more reason I've tried to convince my USCIS officer wife to get her carry permit and at least carry in her purse. It wouldn't hurt but she likely would be better off if they improve the security at her work place since she can't carry there anyway. If I am correct the attacks from the dera...

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

So, wait, this suit/vest/whatever, is going to be emitting lasers? Good luck getting any front line soldier to wear that, once the enemy figures out how to retrofit NVGs to see whatever wavelength those lasers are emitting.

It'll be like walking around wearing a big neon "Shoot Me" sign.

Oh I get it, he is shooting a lever gun. Uh-hun. Not doing something dirty.
My university baseball team uses that clip (slightly extended) when a home pitcher notches a strike out.

Yesterday was budget AR day for me at the range. https://i.imgur.com/finkAh1.jpg?2 Both rifles are built with PSA kits on TN Arms lowers. Not including the rear irons and the red dot, both cost lest than $325. (If built with the PSA kit parts, which the pink one obviously wasn't.) Pink rifle is a PS...

Re: Firearms Chat 6: Year of the 10mm

Most officers that I know don't turn their body cams on when driving - that's what the car's much bigger camera system, with more data storage and drawing power from the car, is for. Depending on the car's camera system, it may or may not record the actions of the driver and/or front seat passengers...

Not everyone should have access to guns — domestic abusers, for example, have proven by their actions that they cannot be trusted with that kind of responsibility — and not everyone needs it. No one without a significant amount of training should be handling a firearm at all, which is why I think d...

OK, I really like that stock for a project that's pops in and out of my head. Not to threadjack, but it would be a shootable AR built to look as much as possible as a Blastech A280. (Rebel commando rifle from Return of the Jedi.)
